Do you believe in Mediums?

Some years ago I went (very sceptically) with a friend to see a well renowned Medium. I had waited almost 2 years to see her. I booked the appointment via telephone on a withheld number. I Gave only my first name which isn't unusual and no other information.
As I say, I was a very sceptical and pretty much a non- beleiver, but just went along with a friend to see what it was all about and a giggle. I had previously lost my husband quite young in a very unusual way. The woman seemed to know a lot about this and even specified that it was abroad, an accident and he was surrounded by water, which he was 🤯 she then went on to say he was with her and was trying to tell her a nickname he used to call me so that I would believe he was there. I was completely confused as I couldn't remember any nicknames that he had for me (non to my knowledge). So this is where I had her, or so I thought! I said no, there has never been a nickname. He never called me anything other than my Christian name. She then said she would give me the first letter of the nickname. I just looked at her blankly and said no. She then shot out the nickname and I was completely and utterly blindsided. It was a ridiculous name. I won't say it on here because it's embarrassing and silly 🤣 but it's something in humour that he used to call me when it was just the two of us (and very unusual/not guessable for her AT ALL). I had totally and utterly forgotten about it. So how could she have known this if even I had forgotten and absolutely nobody else knew? I've never to this day been able to understand how she could know. She also went on to say several other things were that were outstandingly accurate and things that nobody else could possibly have known, for example I was in the middle of a private dental claim which she said was legal (I was) and that I would receive a substantial payout very soon (I did). She told my friend she was pregnant (she was, 6 weeks, but had told nobody bar her DH) This one visit to this Medium changed my entire belief system regarding mediums and the spirit world which I never thought would be possible. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Houdini did this with his wife

I was once at a group meeting by a supposedly famous medium (my friend and I were interested in this at the time and our reaction was "Famous? We've never heard of her.") Weren't very impressed with the event, it all smacked of cold reading, until just one moment - she pointed to me and said "There's a man standing beside you, twining a curl of your hair round his finger" and described completely accurately the deceased person in question. This medium was from England and we were in Australia, completely unknown and in a big audience of strangers. Not sure what other explanation there could be for that one.

BubbleBubbleBubbleBubblePop · 03/12/2023 10:18

I do believe that there is more out there than we are aware of, it would be arrogant to believe otherwise.

I've been to maybe 3 or 4 over my lifetime, only 1 blew me away. The others gave very general information that could have applied to anyone eg I was in my 30s and she was talking about an older woman in spirit, possibly a gran. Well duh, I'm in my 30s, I am likely to have a gran that has passed. Another going on about a baby that will cone into the family soon, well obviously, in my 30s, it's likely I'll have siblings/cousins that will be of childbearing age.

One did very much blow me away though.

I think many of them are charlatans but there are the odd genuine one.

Hi
i just wanted to thank you for p.m the relevant infor about the medium 🔮 you saw before.

They pray on the vulnerable and cold read till they get it right. And she could have found your name through your payment method or by your friends name and a bit of research. They are awful people

A true medium will ask you not to speak or give any indication until they've stopped talking. Then they'll ask for one word answers so they can continue. A true medium will receive so much information in one go that it's actually distracting having the person you're reading for commenting after every thing you say.

Charlotins will ask lot of questions and pause to see your reaction.

"A simple bit of research will show you that psychic detectives have been helping find missing people and bodies for many many years."

Slightly more research will show you that this is not true. Plenty of claims. But no facts. Obviously the police have to take such claims seriously in case the person actually knows something through non psychic means. But nope. Nothing.

TheKnittedCharacter · 03/12/2023 10:29

No, they are charlatans who prey on the vulnerable, and some of them are just good at cold reading.

Also not true. 'Psychic Detective' is an actual job role. If they didn't help they wouldn't be a whole role especially for them. 😂 Of course there's no hard facts, there's no hard facts for anything spiritual.

Cold you give me the name and badge number of one of the Psychic Detectives please?

hairbearbunches · 03/12/2023 10:38

I had an uncanny experience with one years ago. She didn't charge either. I was grieving the loss of someone, but only gave my first name and the person I was grieving wasn't from the area so no way of knowing what had happened to him or connections to me.

She 'made contact' with him and it was helpful for closure etc. She took an item of jewellery I'd worn for a long time - it was a ring - and played with it as she spoke with me. Won't go into details on this bit, but...

she also said she could see me very clearly connected with a hospital but in her image I wasn't wearing a fob watch or a uniform. She could see the building, it was a quad with a clock above the entrance. So far, so meh, could be any building anywhere. I wrote down as much as I could remember when I left and forgot all about it. Fast forward 8 months and I was in the 1st year at university, having gone through clearing, in halls that I'd managed to secure just a few days before term started. It was an old hospital and we were in nurses accom due to be upgraded, and main building was a quad, big clock above the entrance. I admit to getting goosebumps when I wandered in to make a phone call one day, noticed the clock and remembered her words. Probably all a load of generic rubbish though and she got lucky, who knows?

A friend, who was with me when I had my reading, acquiesced to having her tarot cards read. She was really quite frightened of the whole thing, as I remember. Anyways, she pulled out Death, burst into tears and ran out. Still makes me giggle to this day.

i don’t know whether I’m touched or horrified that such naïveté exists in someone old enough to be able to read and write and have access to the internet.

There are precisely zero credible accounts of cases of missing persons where a ‘psychic’ has given information that solved a case.

I'm not sure I'm bothered what you are really. 😉 You can believe what you like. I really don't care.

The universe is full of things that no one will ever understand completely. I personally like it that way. I don't go through life needing to know everything. I know what i experience and that's enough.

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 03/12/2023 10:49

I believe enough to leave well alone tbh.

@PurpleUnicornSparkles "The universe is full of things that no one will ever understand completely. I personally like it that way. I don't go through life needing to know everything. I know what i experience and that's enough."

Fair enough. I like to think of it as "things we don't understand yet."

But you can't feel as you do and ALSO say things like "psychic detective is a job title" without being able to name one"

cerisepanther73 · 03/12/2023 11:11

@Digestivechocolate

Hi
Thanks for putting up your post here,

really intrigued 🤔 how you first got involved with police work in regards of helping to find the missing link with people who have gone missing ect

Do you also help find people find their missing pets and sentimental personal items?

i am hoping that one day i could do this kind of work myself too.

cerisepanther73 · 03/12/2023 11:15

@Digestivechocolate

Any particularly interesting mediumistic work have you done with the police in the past then?

Just out of curiosity,

Can you tell me what my favorite colour is ?

I can also be inuitive, susprisly very at times too

'Things we don't understand yet' is also a good way to look at it, I would like to think that one day we will understand more, I'm just saying I'm happy understanding what I do right now. ☺️

Firefighter is a job title but I don't personally know any so I can't name one, I definitely wouldn't be able to give their credentials. Psychic detectives do exist and if I searched I could probably find some of their names at least but I don't really see the point in that. I'm not saying they help solve all crimes but there are cases where they've helped. The general public help with missing people, that doesn't mean they've solved it but their help is still valuable.

Psychic detectives aren't my thing, it wasn't me that brought them up. Mediums are my thing as that's what I am. I've never helped solve a crime lol although that would be nice to do one day.

Just thinking 🤔 out of curiosity about your very intriguing recent post here,

you mentioned about other mediums doing the kind of mediumistic, pschic work of helping to find sentimental valuable objects, writing historical biographies or books,

I am just wondering 🤔 how these kinds of mediums have in the first place got involved in this type of work,
had these quite fascinating opportunities,?

as i can be very inuitive at times too,
i would like to have these kinds of opportunities come my way too,

also do mediums asked to be involved in archeology sites in the world too,

or and dowsing too.

It's wasn't me that brought that kind of work up, especially writing historical books etc lol I was just replying to the person that did, to say that psychic detective is a job role.

Those kinds of jobs do exist. I wouldn't personally know how to go about getting one of those roles as I've never looked into it.

I wouldn't call them opportunities. A medium would have to look long and hard to find a career in that field and they'd need to convince a lot of people that they're genuine before being taken seriously.

Mediumship isn't easy and the judgment and doubt from others makes many hide away from it. The con artists claiming to be mediums have also made it extremely difficult and quite frightening for genuine mediums to admit to people that they can talk to spirit.

SiennaMillar · 03/12/2023 11:36

When you booked, did she take your card details? She would then have your name and could have done homework on you.

Itsbritneybitch22 · 03/12/2023 11:38

Send me her details please ❤️

EveryKneeShallBow · 03/12/2023 11:42

While I can see the appeal of clairvoyance, I’m struggling with the appeal of going to a medium and them telling you stuff you already know, regardless of how they know it.
