Really regretting getting the Covid jab (warning pity party)

FlemCandango · 29/11/2023 12:27

I had my COVID vaccination on Saturday. I have had all the available boosters since lockdown as I have had some health issues that put me in a "slightly vulnerable to COVID" category.

Went to local chemist had the jab and a charity shop mooch, then came home all fine. 10-12 hours later I start feeling ropey. I know I might be in for a rough night as I have been known to react badly. So I had violent chills, followed by feverishness, crazy fever dreams, headache untouched by paracetamol, couldn't get out of bed for a wee without help, joint pain, nausea, loss of appetite ... This went on for 24 hours. I was still a wreck on Monday, so day off work, Tuesday tired but felt better and felt normal by the evening. I expected to be back at work today.

Then in the middle of the night, chills again I was shivering violently, headache returned plus sore throat and a cough. Most likely an opportunistic virus 🦠 but I am wondering why I put myself through all this🙄

Not sure if the net benefit outweighs the massively inconvenient time off work and feeling like shit-ness of it all.

I will think hard before taking the next booster if offered. I have the flu jab every year - never any issues with that one.

I think people really need to stop getting this unnecessary jab now.

Me too, I know someone seriously vaccine damaged 💔 😢

sunglassesonthetable · 30/11/2023 15:24

The number of injuries does not point to it being ultra rare

Nope that's very sweeping. It sort of does.

It also says it in the article you linked to that it's extremely rare. And that it was the vaccine was still the best solution in terms of risk.

you know that scientifically the whole Covid situation was a moving event.

The consensus science was changing. Your were as informed as you could be.

Crikeyalmighty · 30/11/2023 15:26

I have had nasty complications (thankfully seemed to have waned a year later ) I am still pro vax because I am the only one affected in our family and can just see it's the luck of the draw.

However people do need to be aware that although it's not hugely common, you 'may' get issues and decide for themselves if they think it's worth it, especially given the fact that it doesn't stop you getting it-

What isn't ok is to try and say its all rubbish - with many people on the long covid forums some were not vaccinated but many others were and in plenty of cases the issues started post vaccine, not post covid

sunglassesonthetable · 30/11/2023 15:27

Me too, I know someone seriously vaccine damaged 💔 😢

So you'd advise anybody else not to have the vaccine?

I'd advise people not to get Covid because of actual death or Long Covid damage.

Tbh this information has always been available.

And it's not OK to discredit a entire vaccine and recommend not having it, on the basis of personal experience.

Crikeyalmighty · 30/11/2023 15:33

@sunglassesonthetable absolutely-my son and H have all had theirs. I've had 4 . I only hit an issue on 4th

sunglassesonthetable · 30/11/2023 15:35

Really sorry to hear that. Glad to hear you are on the way up now. @Crikeyalmighty

MaturingCheeseball · 30/11/2023 15:36

I have had many covid jabs! The last one, a while ago(Moderna), caused me to swear never to get another - I was ill for a week. But then I remembered (and told by GP) that I might be toast if I catch covid (or other things) so I went for it. Not a tiniest bit of a reaction. Nada.

Jumpingthruhoops · 30/11/2023 15:40

Our Covid gov was a shit show but no one has ever stopped anyone reporting stuff.

That is 100% not true. I know for a fact that OFCOM issued a directive at the start of the pandemic forbidding news outlets from running any coverage that criticised anything to do with the govt's response to Covid: policy, lockdown, jabs etc. As a result, people were only ever given the 'official' narrative... which we're learning now, was about as far away from the actual truth as you can get!

sunglassesonthetable · 30/11/2023 15:49

No one has been stopped reporting their symptoms. @Jumpingthruhoops

How long did this OFCOM directive last? Because I read endless criticism of the Gov ( rightly ) through the pandemic ???!

There have been stories since about how doctors were actively dissuaded from reporting adverse events.

And in terms of the actual press, their hands WERE tied by bodies like OFCOM. Believe it, or don't.

sunglassesonthetable · 30/11/2023 16:04

What "stories ". The internet is full of stories. See this thread.

How do you know for " a fact " OFCOM stopped news outlets criticising GOV response?

It didn't work very well did it? 😂

Yes, information about 'issues' relating to the jab has always been available. Those issues being sore arm, fatigue, flu-like symptoms etc. Not 'issues' like neurological conditions, facial paralysis and myocarditis!

At best, people were told those conditions were rare and that the 'benefits of the jab outweighed the risk'; however, I think we're seeing now that's absolutely not the case.

I'm glad some people finally seem to be acknowledging that - even if you won't.

BethDuttonsTwin · 29/11/2023 13:20

I don’t understand the certainty here. Doesn’t anyone else remember when the first lot were rolled out and pretty much everyone was ill and had side effects afterwards. I know I did. Every member of of my family did - children less affected though. Almost exactly 12 hours after the jab my temperature shot up and I was ill for about three days and then it disappeared. There were warnings that this might be the case when you went for the jab, handed sheets as you left telling you to be aware that it might happen.

Edited

I didn't, neither did my daughter, my brother, my father and my mother and several of my friends. My sons had a fever and aches for a few hours but that's it.

Where are you seeing that? Exactly?

And you didn't answer the OFCOM question?

How do I know? I work in the industry.

But I'm not here to convince you of anything. I'm here to support those highlighting serious health issues, who are STILL being gaslit by the govt, the media... and people on Mumsnet!

Information on adverse events was published and freely available from February 2021 and continued to be published. There is plenty of information out there for people who might be concerned about getting the vaccination. Plus the PILs that are handed out to everyone who has a vaccination.

derxa · 30/11/2023 16:22

I am vaccine injured. I developed severe psoriasis after 2 CV jabs. It's been absolute hell. Finally in remission after biologics

englishsparklingwine · 30/11/2023 16:27

I'm CEV and had my booster last week. I've felt dreadful after every single one (and I've had loads now - 7/8 maybe?) and the reactions have been worse each time, but always involve terrible fever, headache and lethargy. This time I developed a fever about 12 hours after getting the jab which lasted for 48 hours, and I ended up vomiting 3 times. It took me 4 days to get out of bed. This is the second time this year, so ive had 2 separate sickness absences from work just due to the jab!

When I had covid I was fine... mildly unwell for 24 hours.

I'm not sure I can keep having them as my reactions are so extreme, despite doctors telling me I should (I'm on strong immunosuppressants).

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 30/11/2023 16:31

What a lot of drama on this thread. The statistics do not bear out the mass claims of ill health. Classic conspiracy theory. Have it or don't, but stop whining about it.

I don't think one person on this thread has denied that covid and other vaccines can cause serious side effects or even death. But that is the case for probably every single medicine ever produced.

Vegetus · 30/11/2023 16:34

The first one made me feel like shit so I cancelled the second one and never looked back.

If that’s true, then OFCOM is toothless and pointless. I distinctly remember constant criticism and backbiting throughout the entirety of Covid, also constant flip flopping and changes of mind and direction. Criticism there definitely was.

and you know the press were gagged and you want to help people and you're tiddling around on MN?

Give us a break @Jumpingthruhoops

sunglassesonthetable · 30/11/2023 16:47

And this "OFCOM gag on the press " 😉
was probably the most unsuccesful gag ever known.

You're just on here spouting 😆@Jumpingthruhoops and you know what, you're not helping people who have suffered effects from the vaccine one bit.

You entirely discredit them. Stop jumping on their stories.
