I love getting advice from Mumsnet, but TWO threads about airfryers in Active??

To add to all the rest of them....

Just please Google what you are interested in and add "Mumsnet". It works. I've done it for years. Saves you starting a new thread and clogging up the internet. Thanks.

If you Google to check if there is already a mumsnet thread that will answer your question, you may as well Google the question. The answer will be somewhere. But then there would be no more mumsnet

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 26/11/2023 09:14

It's ok, the Internet has a spare drawer for shoving extra threads in.

KissTheRains · 26/11/2023 09:17

Yes EVERYONE should Google before they start a thread to see if one like it has been done before.

EVERYONE no exceptions.

To ask people to Google before stating a thread?
ACynicalDad · 26/11/2023 09:18

Did you google this before starting it?

BarbaraofSeville · 26/11/2023 09:19

I disagree about there being no more Mumsnet, just there would be less repetition, fewer threads where it would have been quicker to look on the relevant 'source' website for the answer to a factual question (shop opening times, airline luggage allowances, best way to make a simple journey) and less of the nonsense 'survey' threads which simply show how disproportionately affluent the MN demographic is, the 'AIBU to ask you to tell me about your massive house that you bought with a huge mortgage that you pay for out of your ginormous salary' thread being a case in point.

It would still leave endless other topics to talk about where it can be useful to discuss different choices or issues with (mostly) like minded people.

Tread policing is never the great look you think it is op.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 26/11/2023 10:20

All joking aside, can the Internet become full?? I don't really understand what it is, who controls it? Is there a massive mainframe somewhere? I know it needs cables but who installed and owns them? So many questions!! Thanks for raising this OP I might start a new thread on it, in AIBU and chat to maximise traffic.

And loads of suggestions for using up unwanted threads:

How to Upcycle Your Scrap Threads — Agy Textile Artist

Free motion embroidery creates a lot of scrap threads. I don’t throw them out and incorporate them in my art work. Here are a few tips on how to reuse them.

Always remember that people are on online forums to talk to other people. Yes, people could Google things, but sometimes they want a conversation or some kind of interaction with actual people.

These people could be living alone, living alone with a baby, and desperately craving human interaction. Don't deny them that.

If you're not interested in a thread, it's easy to move on. If it winds you up so badly, forums may not be for you.

Who put you in charge?

Clogging up the internet gives people jobs though.

Clogging up the internet gives people jobs though.

Which jobs? Clogging it up or declogging it? I would absolutely love to declog the internet and I'm pretty sure i know where I would start the deletions.

Kitten and other cute animal videos would be automatically spared.

funbags3 · 26/11/2023 17:19

@LittleGreenDragons You have to have a certain set of skills to clog the internet with Kittens.

WeeSleekitCowrinTimrousBeastie · 26/11/2023 17:34

It's a chat forum. 😳

People can chat about anything they want to. Ask questions about anything they like.

Don't like it. Don't click.

BeigeChair · 26/11/2023 17:36

I hate the just google it brigaid. If someone wants to post and ask for help it might be that they like the social interaction or find doing things overwhelmingly people like posting and being helpful. If it’s not your thing you don’t read and reply, simples.
