All this from not wearing a coat? What have I done to myself?!

Went out without a coat today, rushing to get in the car. Went to a high street so lots of time outside. I was probably outside 15 mins in total, in and out of shops, with a bra and thin jumper on. I felt so cold we had to go back to the car. I have been shivering now for hours. Heating is on, still not warm. Had a warm drink. Is this normal? What have I done?

No sympathy here. Idiotic OP. Its the end of November - a WINTER month!! Why on earth would you be out without a coat?! Is it Fashion? How pathetic can you be and then to ask on MN rollseyeballs

Cornettoninja · 27/11/2023 20:49

Its the end of November - a WINTER month!!

Technically November is Autumn.

After Samhain is winter to me

Cornettoninja · 27/11/2023 20:56

@Pipistrellus i always expect it to get colder after bonfire night, doesn’t change the fact November isn’t winter.

I think if you’re going to have a pop at someone you should at least get your facts straight 🤷‍♀️

Pipistrellus · 27/11/2023 21:09

@Cornettoninja A pop, do you always view a reply like that? I'm just expressing my viewpoint and agreeing with the previous poster. It will be midwinter in less than four weeks.

Cornettoninja · 27/11/2023 21:41

I was referring to @Mumof3PrettyBoys. I wasn’t using ‘you’ as a specific reference to yourself.

LindorDoubleChoc · 28/11/2023 08:49

@Mumof3PrettyBoys reply is disgraceful. Perfect example of MN "going to the dogs".

Point out where someone has gone wrong - fine (although not needed on a thread as long as this with numerous replies), call them an idiot and shout at them - just rude, crude and unnecessary.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 28/11/2023 16:53

I'm glad you're back to normal now
Put socks on your Christmas list
You'll notice a big difference

Mirabai · 28/11/2023 18:20

And a hot water bottle.

Here I am. Its WINTER hence the school kiddies all wearing hats and coats and gloves to school, hence the icy particles on my windscreen that needs defrosting in the mornings. I said what I said. Put a cornetto in it "ninja" 🤣🤣🤣

A lot like your comment! Unwanted and i'm unbothered what you think! What idiot goes out on a cold day and posts about shivvering 🤔 haha! Stay well everyone and wear a coat out!! Its WINTERRRR. Oh and for the other idiot saying its not winter, i bet you any money they've put the heating back on because its cold 😂😂😂 as i said, No Sympathy!!

RampantIvy · 29/11/2023 06:12

Regardless of whether it is autumn or winter it is cold.
Today's maximum temperature is 1 degree 🧊🥶

Meep2024 · 29/11/2023 08:28

Only way to warm up is to warm yourself through. Hot drink, hot (not too hot) bath then a hot meal in that order. Plenty of blankets when you go to bed. We went out for a meal one day last year in the Winter and the restaurant didn't have any sort of heating on whatsoever. It was cold and pouring with rain outside and there was no way to warm up properly when inside. DD was still shivering hours later once home with the heating cranked up. Plenty of blankets and she was fine by the morning.

DonnaBanana · 29/11/2023 09:05

gamerchick · 25/11/2023 14:22

You need to heat from the inside out. Could you run a bath maybe?

What does this even mean? About the only way you could do that is by being microwaved. A hot bath still obviously heats from the outside in just like any heat source

Well done??

Is it just ‘owning’ people on the internet you have as a pointless hobby or do you shadow box too?

The weather doesn’t make a difference to what season it is. As I said, technically it’s not winter. Make sure you’ve got your facts straight before shitting on other people like you’re superior for just having a thought in your head is the only point I’m making.

BananaPalm · 29/11/2023 11:46

This must be one of the most idiotic threads on MN 😂😂😂

RampantIvy · 29/11/2023 12:28

Indeed @BananaPalm.
It's cold outside. The OP goes out wearing insufficient clothing then is surprised that she is cold 🤔

Who’s facts?
I have lived in several different (Northern Hemisphere) places and have heard several different versions of when seasons start and finish.
-English version - December, January and February are winter, March, April and May are Spring, June, July, August are Summer and September, October and November are winter.
-My Irish friends assure me that the English version is one month out. Winter is November to January, Spring is February to April, Summer is May to July, Autumn is August to October.
-My French friends tell me everything goes by the equinoxes and soltices, so Winter starts on the 21st of December. Spring starts on the Equinox around the 21st of March, Summer starts on the 21st of June and Autumn starts ok the equinox on the 21st ish of September.

There’s a full half a season difference between the French and the Irish versions. - basically the Irish take is that the soltices are the middle of winter and summer and the French version is that they mark the beginning of the season. The Irish version follows the light patterns better, the French version follows the temperature patterns better. So again, who’s facts are we talking about?

Pipistrellus · 29/11/2023 12:55

@GwenGhost Exactly, I dont think there is consensus. Winter solstice, or midwinter being the middle of winter makes the most sense to me. The darkest and shortest days are winter. Temperature doesn't seem that reliable as it can be rather variable. Then when the snowdrops come out and lambs are being born then it starts to feel like spring.

And fuck your technicalities!!

Cornettoninja · 29/11/2023 13:35

@Mumof3PrettyBoys what are you even talking about? What’s so wrong with YOUR life that you have to come on here and pick fights and/or just be massively unpleasant?

I haven’t reported you, I don’t CARE enough about you to report you. Your posts are nothing more than an angry oddity to me. I’ll admit I was tempted but thought I’d let your batshittery stand and speak for itself tbh.

And you’re still WRONG.

Cornettoninja · 29/11/2023 13:38

@GwenGhost, it’s unreasonable to presume that the OP is likely residing is the same hemisphere and time zone the UK is located in??

GwenGhost · 29/11/2023 14:39

@Cornettoninja Ireland and France are in the same hemisphere as the UK. Time zones have nothing to do with seasons. Latitude does but Longitude is irrelevant.
I only mentioned hemispheres because obviously the seasons are reversed in the southern hemisphere. So November isn’t winter in Argentina, Chile, Australia or New Zealand.

Cornettoninja · 29/11/2023 16:05

@GwenGhost, interesting. Thanks.

even so I’m pretty confident the OP is in this hemisphere and follows the pattern of seasons in the UK.
