Of 745,000 people a year isn’t what the 17 million people who voted for Brexit in 2016 thought they were voting for?

YABU = Yes, this is what Leave supporters voted for.

YANBI = No, they didn’t vote for this.

Its very gratifying to watch the Brexiters get poorer and poorer due to the Brexit they voted for.

Keep it coming.

How poor are you hoping for?

HannibalHeyes · 23/11/2023 21:18

Hopefully poorer than the rest of us that they dragged down with them due to their ignorance and racism...

Presumably you are poor yourself? Bad luck.

HannibalHeyes · 23/11/2023 21:24

We're all poorer than we were before the referendum. Unless you're a hedge fund manager or Tory donor, of course, then you're raking it in...

youngones1 · 23/11/2023 21:25

The reality is that our welfare system is too generous. Hunt should have raised the limit before income tax is payable and reduced benefits so that more unemployed people get a job, even if it means being a carer or picking fruit.

Bad idea to wish for it. Even if it feels gratifying for a moment.

HannibalHeyes · 23/11/2023 21:27

I didn't wish for it. You voted for it...

Speak for yourself - dh has had two promotions since 2016 and our property is worth considerably more.

HannibalHeyes · 23/11/2023 21:27

Joy unconfined...

HannibalHeyes · 23/11/2023 21:28

You're still poorer in self respect, but I don't imagine that you've noticed that...

High immigration has meant wages have stayed low and we have little housing and 7m on NHS waiting lists.
High immigration for North London Tory and Labour politicians means they can get cleaners and other servants easily therefore they only see positive effects.

Bloody hell I don't know where you live but cleaners are like gold dust round here and they're on £18 per hour, so hardly slave wages. I'm in the South West. And I don't know any who aren't white British either.

Who did? Brexiters? If you are saying you know you’ve got it wrong.

And you did wish for it. You’ve just said you want them to be poorer 🤷‍♂️

It’s a careful what you wish for thing, even if spite is main driver

The U.K. is hardly the only place getting so many immigrants. However, it seems to be the favourite destination once they get to Europe. The benefits are a big incentive and the tolerance of the British people. Well let’s see where it takes us. I hope to be out of here very soon.

Or comes illegally into the country on a small boat from France.

Despite rumours to the contrary it is actually perfectly legal to enter the UK by boat, small or large from France, in fact I have done it myself a number of times.

BouncingJAS · 23/11/2023 21:36

I am quite well off.

Still have to pay a lot of tax (close to £50k) due to fiscal drag.

But I warned the Brexiters many times that EU migration would be replaced by massive non-EU migration. They chose to ignore the warnings.

It was super obvious to me (and people with actual intelligence) this would happen due to labour shortages.

So now the Brexiters will feel the full consequences of their vote.

And I zero problems with this. They deserve it.

In the interests of factual accuracy I would like to point out that by some estimates there are a million empty homes in England alone.

I feel like immigration threads and AI threads need to talk to each other

There was a very good director of an Oxford institute (on population stuff) saying the same on R4 the other day

With or without a passport? Without would not be legal.

In the interests of factual accuracy I would like to point out that the following European countries had more net migrants per 1000 of the population than the UK in 2022. Luxemburg, Cyprus, San Marino, Malta, Leichtenstein, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Norway and Ireland.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_by_net_migration_rate

Also in many of those countries migrants recieve greater benefits than they do in the UK.

If you hope to be out of here very soon, does that mean you are going to become a migrant?
I find this somewhat confusing because the rest of your post suggests you dont like migrants?
