DPD lying yet again

billyt · 22/11/2023 11:45

Fucking DPD lying again.

Expecting delivery this morning. I received a text saying I wasn't in and it would be delivered to a shop for pick up tomorrow.

I have cameras outside, I have a Ring video door bell and a dog that barks if someone passing so much as breathes. And as you have to walk about 30 feet up to our front door he would have definitely reacted.

What is up with these people? Why do they feel the need to not do their prescribed job then lie about it? Laziness? Or is it if they lie about non delivery they can drop a shed load of parcels at the shop and get paid for them all in one drop?

And please don't give me the usual line about how they get paid peanuts. That's not the issue. And neither is the one that gets rolled out as well that they have run out of time. They were due this morning.

Fuckers.

Maybe it's an issue with your particular driver. I don't tend to get many DPD parcels (although NEXT online have started using them instead of Evri so I think that'll soon change), but I often see their van driving around our estate and they seem to go door to door.

GoodnightJude1 · 22/11/2023 12:01

Totally with you on this one.
I cancelled an appointment last week to wait in for a delivery from dpd (it was something DH needed for work) I had a text saying it would be delivered between 10.28am & 11.28am. I was in the kitchen cleaning and preparing dinner for that whole hour. The kitchen door was open and is next to the front door so there’s no way I wouldn’t hear someone knock.
Then I get the text informing me that I wasn’t in and to go online to rearrange delivery 🙄

So not only did I have to rearrange the appointment I’d cancelled, I had to rearrange delivery of a parcel that was now going to delay DH next job.

Thingsthatgo · 22/11/2023 12:02

I've been on Mumsnet too long. I was trying to work out what family member Dpd would be! Grin

BeigeChair · 22/11/2023 12:03

Royal Mail do this to me. They email/message saying “you cancelled or opted to delay your delivery so we didn’t deliver”. I wish they would just fucking say, we’re short staffed and missed your route sorry. We’re the last route and seemingly get missed a couple of days per week and then get a hall or evening delivery. Why they don’t rotate round and miss other routes off and just us is annoying

roseopose · 22/11/2023 12:03

They do this to me all the time. We do live a bit out of the way but there are a couple of drivers who won't even come up my road and will say I wasn't in then dump it at the nearest shop even if it isn't a DPD shop. I found out once they told a pub owner that I had asked to have my parcel left there because I drive past on the way back from work??
I have a safe place saved anyway so if they actually did come to my house and find I was out they should be leaving it. I tried complaining to DPD but they couldn't give a shit.

Deathbyfluffy · 22/11/2023 12:05

They're absolutely terrible.
A shame as they used to be fairly decent (many years ago) - but now they're as bad as Yodel.

sarahc336 · 22/11/2023 12:13

Dpd always lie about trying to deliver, it's a joke really isn't it 🙄

Lackinginspiration1 · 22/11/2023 12:17

Me too! 😝

OldTinHat · 22/11/2023 12:17

I actually like DPD (and funnily enough, they've literally just delivered to me right in the time slot).

I like the tracking so you can see where they are and what number delivery you are. Never had a problem with them. If I'm not in, they'll deliver to my designated safe space.

Evri on the other hand...!

divinededacende · 22/11/2023 12:17

I had this issue this week. I paid for special delivery for two different orders and both ended up with DPD due to arrive the day before we had friends coming round for a gig - we planned on doing a surprise gift for a 30th in the group.

First day I arrived home right at the start of the delivery window. Got a message a few minutes later to tell me I wasn't in. There hadn't been a DPD van in the area. I even want back to the car and drove around to check.

Re-delivery was the day of the gig. I was sat watching the tracking updates telling me he was 20 deliveries and around 30 minutes away. 10 minutes later I got a notification with a photo of our front door taken from a distance. He'd clearly snapped a shot on the way past and hadn't bothered to get out. I didn't even know DPD uploaded photos as proof until the second delivery so the lack of one for the first day makes me thing he didn't even come near us.

Part of me gets it, the companies put ridiculous time pressures on the drivers so I struggle to judge someone who tries to shave a few off their day to make their targets but doing it twice in a row meaning both parcels get returned to sender is too far. He shot himself in the foot though because I had to lodge complaints with the sellers so I didn't get charged for redelivery so he's fucked. Both looked at the evidence and said it's clear he never attempted either delivery so he's probably going to end up in more trouble.

BonjourCrisette · 22/11/2023 12:24

I usually find DPD OK but they failed to deliver something vital to some work we are having done on the house atm yesterday. Supposedly it is arriving today but who knows. Had a very annoying chat with a customer service person who asked if I had any advice to enable the delivery person to find out house and I said 'yes, it is really simple - just go to the correct address and ring the doorbell'. Because it is literally that simple. Our postcode only covers about 50 houses, all on one street, how hard can it be?!

gamerchick · 22/11/2023 12:24

They can't hold on to drivers. This time of year is especially bad because they need more drivers than the rest of the year and the ones who do put up with their shit stop rate and management, couldn't give a toss about the job.

IrritableVowel · 22/11/2023 12:30

I got a message at 8.40 saying your parcel will be delivered between 8 and 9. We weren't home so I clicked option to rearrange. Selected a new date etc. Within 1 min of getting the message.

Got home the next day, neighbours had nicely rescued my huge parcel. It had been left lying on doorstep.

If they hadn't told me, I would still be expecting my delivery tomorrow....

LauritaEvita · 22/11/2023 12:51

Same! I’m new to mumsnet so assumed this was another acronym those in the know use 😂

Raingo · 22/11/2023 12:57

Same happened to me! I was furious, ring doorbell, then up pops, sorry you were out. I bloody wasn’t. Bloody big box I had to carry home too. Item wasn’t that big but very well packaged.
Have safe space and neighbour to deliver too. They used to be brilliant.
Three times lately they have changed delivery window (in delivery window) to change day.

AdultLounge · 22/11/2023 13:02

OMG I spent far too long trying to work out who DPD were?

Dear Pet Dog?

Dear Pretty Daughter?

Then realised ....

Think I'm spending too much time on mumsnet!

Plump82 · 22/11/2023 13:02

This happened to me about 4 years ago. It was delivered to a local shop but I never got the barcode for them to scan and give me my parcel. I went round and round in circles with them saying it wasnt at the shop and to arrange redelivery. I even took a picture of the parcel showing my name on it. Eventually got a refund from the seller. To this day, that parcel is STILL sitting behind the till at the shop. They've said they can't do anything with it.

Me too

MrsToothyBitch · 22/11/2023 13:45

YANBU. They lost 2 of our wedding suits yesterday- they delivered 4/6 and admitted to the shop they couldn't find the other 2- they have no idea what they've done with them. Luckily the hire supplier dispatched 2 speedy replacements which arrived ok!

Jayne35 · 22/11/2023 13:46

I work in a business with a 24 hour manned reception and I have my deliveries to work, the amount of times DPD/EVRI have stated I wasn't in is beyond belief. I think they are just nearly finishing their shift so randomly choose drops to skip.

I have had exactly the same thing this morning ! I was actually sitting looking out at the front when my text arrived saying sorry you were out !! Infuriating.

TinySaltLick · 22/11/2023 13:55

I'm in London - never had an issue with dpd over many years
