DPD lying yet again

billyt · 22/11/2023 11:45

Fucking DPD lying again.

Expecting delivery this morning. I received a text saying I wasn't in and it would be delivered to a shop for pick up tomorrow.

I have cameras outside, I have a Ring video door bell and a dog that barks if someone passing so much as breathes. And as you have to walk about 30 feet up to our front door he would have definitely reacted.

What is up with these people? Why do they feel the need to not do their prescribed job then lie about it? Laziness? Or is it if they lie about non delivery they can drop a shed load of parcels at the shop and get paid for them all in one drop?

And please don't give me the usual line about how they get paid peanuts. That's not the issue. And neither is the one that gets rolled out as well that they have run out of time. They were due this morning.

Fuckers.

I'm in London - never had an issue with dpd over many years

🙄

maximist · 22/11/2023 14:19

I've never had a problem with DPD, stuff comes when it says, including a parcel from IKEA this morning.

ginasevern · 22/11/2023 15:27

I thought DPD was a new relationship acronym until I started to read the thread.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 22/11/2023 15:31

I didn't realise that DPD did anything other than lie, all the flipping time.

They mis-delivered a parcel (expensive item), said that they'd delivered it and we'd signed for it. They hadn't and we hadn't signed. I took it up with Diptyque who took it up with DPD and almost immediately, our next door neighbour contacted us to say they'd taken it in.

The following week, DPD delivered a parcel to our deceased neighbour's garden. Said they'd got a signature. I can't imagine who would have signed? We retrieved the parcel.

I always check with sellers now who their courier is. If it's DPD then I don't buy.

I've been on Mumsnet too long. I was trying to work out what family member Dpd would be! Grin

And me😹

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 22/11/2023 15:32

DPD = Dreadful Parcel Diversions

or pick any that fit your own experiences.

Tdcp · 22/11/2023 15:36

I used to rave about DPD but my work trialled with them recently and my god they are worse than TNT and that's saying something 😂

Ezzee · 22/11/2023 15:43

Not had a problem so far with my DPD man, always the same guy.
Evri man is fab too.
Yodel absolute wanker, I was on a call and saw him through my office window ( he can also see me) smiled at him and after my call went to collect parcel ... it wasn't there, the fucker put on the delivery note I wasn't home!
He said to me when I tackled him that unless I answer the door he won't deliver despite my delivery instructions, complaints etc I can't answer the door as I'm a therapist and can't leave a client on the call.
Might have called him a incompetent prick.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 22/11/2023 15:45

DPD drive me mad.
I've had 3 collections booked and each time they've said I've told them the parcel isn't ready for collection 😑.

No sign of them on the cctv so they definitely haven't tried. Complained several times and it gets nowhere. Lost count of how many time the 'warehouse manager' will be calling me. Seems they can't find the phone as well as the address.
As another company makes the collection request, dpd won't accept a formal complaint from me.

HardcoreLadyType · 22/11/2023 15:53

I normally find DPD are okay, but I’ve also had “we were unable to deliver” when we were definitely in (we work from home, and it is very rare that both DH and I will be out at the same time, in any case).

My pet grudge is we have a parcel box. It is left open, but if you close the door, it locks, so it is secure for parcels, once they’ve been delivered. So often, the driver will place the parcel in the box and leave it open. (And I really don’t mind them using it, even if we are in. I know they’re always pushed for time.)

Ponoka7 · 22/11/2023 18:48

Paid £4.99 for a weekend delivery, never showed up. Now they are offering a delivery time exactly the same as my original one.

OMG I spent far too long trying to work out who DPD were?

Dear Pet Dog?

Dear Pretty Daughter?

Then realised ....

Think I'm spending too much time on mumsnet!

Me too. I got to Dear Partners Daughter!

Ha! Glad I wasn't the only one.

Peacheroo · 22/11/2023 20:42

On the whole, I think dpd are one of the better ones. Perhaps a few bad eggs but they are quickly replaced in my experience. Did you have something theftworthy? I also have a dog that sits in my bay window guarding - says more about the size of the window than the dog. He's a giant guardian breed. Two delivery men have worked out how to deliver without antagonising him - they are born delivery artists. One is really old so I don't think he is seen as a threat.

That being said, I have a funny story about dpd. A delivery man asked if I would take in a parcel for number 7 as they weren't in. I obliged but looked and said I can, but this is for number 6 and I can see they are in. He said "well I've said you've taken it now so..." and then asked me to take it round. He didn't last long. My neighbour is an absolute sweetheart so we laughed about it.

NoTango · 22/11/2023 20:45

I avoid DPD at all costs. They are awful! We had one delivery driver say they'd tried to deliver and no one was home, and take a photo of the back of our property (which has no access). They couldn't even be arsed to find the front.
I have decided against ordering stuff in the past because it would be a DPD delivery. They are the worst.

b0zza1 · 22/11/2023 21:08

Dpd are awful. Saturday, I wasn't in even when I was. Mon and Tues I was surely out. Today I was sat by my front window, note to the driver taped to my front door and got a message 15 mins into the delivery window that I wasn't in 🤬

Tattyhabits · 22/11/2023 23:12

I think it depends on your local depot, I think they're franchised. Our company used them for years until they closed our well run little depot and transferred us to another larger one. The service went to shit immediately. All our regular drivers disappeared and were replaced with subcontracted drivers in their own vans. They regularly failed to collect our shipments, if they did manage to turn up our parcels languished at the depot for up to 3 days causing huge problems for us with our customers. We kicked them into touch over a year ago but unfortunately some of our suppliers still use them and we're still regularly getting the 'unable to deliver, you were out' lie.
DPD do seem to be waking up to this though. I've been approached twice in the last few weeks by them asking why we stopped using them and attempting to win us back. They won't of course but I was glad of the opportunity to give them frank and honest feedback!

Royal Mail do this to me. They email/message saying “you cancelled or opted to delay your delivery so we didn’t deliver”. I wish they would just fucking say, we’re short staffed and missed your route sorry. We’re the last route and seemingly get missed a couple of days per week and then get a hall or evening delivery. Why they don’t rotate round and miss other routes off and just us is annoying

I had them chasing their tail for a week over this when I demanded to see the proof that I requested mail not to be delivered to my address. The usual stock emails came first, then I quite rightly told them that if someone was posing as me to delay deliveries it needed investigating and should they fail to show me the proof I’d put in a SAR for it. They apologised, admitted it’s what they did when understaffed and sent me a book of stamps. Small wins. If they’d said ‘hey we can’t deliver today because we’re so understaffed’ I would have understood, but don’t lie to me.

DPD once said they couldn’t find my address because it was raining and the driver didn’t want to walk up the drive with a large parcel. I sent them the cctv of him sat in the end of my driveway considering his options, then marking address not found on his PDA before driving off. They sent him back 😂

ManchesterLu · 22/11/2023 23:26

My DPD man (Jordan!) is and always has been wonderful, and the guy before him was wonderful, too. I wouldn't say they were all the same to be honest, sounds like you've got a bad one, who should be reported (like our Royal Mail guy who was stealing birthday cards for cash a few decades back).

Are you me? 😂 I also said I was concerned that someone was pretending to be me and this was a serious matter. I didn’t push it hard enough to get stamps though!
Exactly, just say sorry we were short staffed and I would be fine with it. I also have CCTV And it’s the “you weren’t in” “requested not to be delivered” when I’m sat in the living room window that is stupid.

billyt · 23/11/2023 14:16

I meant to also say I work from home and I can see the approach to our front door on the monitor.

Anyway, I went and collected the parcel. Shopkeeper wasn't impressed. Before I even showed him the QR code he said "DPD?' sounding fed up.

A whole corner of his, not overly large, shop stacked with boxes.😒Said he's had people in all day saying DPD claimed they weren't in.

APC Overnight are just as bad. They have had a parcel that should have been delivered next day since the 20th. It still wasn't loaded onto the van this morning for delivery today as apparently 'the scanning gun ran out of charge so they couldn't scan it'. They did kindly say that I could drive the hour and a half to collect it from the depot myself though. Complaints to customers service get you no where as they are just disinterested and rude.

MassageForLife · 23/11/2023 14:23

I've never experienced this.

Until yesterday. It wasn't DPD, it was DX Express I've never heard of them before). But it's bloody infuriating!!
