Is it possible for Mumsnetters to discuss male users of this site without breaking the Talk Guidelines? Or is this a forbidden topic?

You cannot know who is male and female on here.

Multiple posters (mainly women) start fake threads.

If you have an issue with a particular poster or comment then raise it on that thread or report it.

Why not just say what you mean and then we can advise.
If it gets deleted, then it gets deleted but hopefully posters would have seen it before then.

Hang on, wasn't your deleted thread the one telling men to leave the site?

That's not "discussing" men, it's telling site members they're not welcome when you're not in any position to do so. Not entirely surprising that it was deleted really, is it?

Lovemychair · 21/11/2023 17:19

Just spit it out 🙄

A lot of MN threads are ruined for me by people twisting whatever the topic is into a resentment-fueled commentary about males.

Whatever the balance was 15 years ago, when posters sometimes moaned about males, I could take that but now the moaning is relentless & obsessive & makes me actively tell anyone who asks that MN is a very man-hating community.

maybe that's what OP meant to say.

I agree.

I also find it frustrating that 2 posters can have almost identical threads but the comments are completely different depending on the sex of the posters.

There have been threads that have condoned violence because the abuser was female.

There have been multiple but one that I vividly remember was when a women was drunk and kept trying to snog and grope get DP in public but he didn’t want to, so she slapped him. He then walked away and she ran after him and slapped him again.
There were posters actually congratulating her and saying that he was abusive for not snogging her or letting her grope him in public.

She started a thread before this one that got deleted that basically said ‘To the men on MN, go away. Thanks’ so I think she is one of the men haters you are referring to!

idealgift · 21/11/2023 19:13

have you shuffled off red faced OP?

Ibizabar · 21/11/2023 19:21

I don't hate men in general. Just the ones on the sex topic, the ones who mansplain and the ones who troll MN.

The best - or worst, depending on your point of view - example of this is any post where the OP doesn’t specify the gender of the other party involved. Whether the OP is being reasonable or not, you can guarantee that the thread will be dominated by people saying “FFS, just tell us their gender!! All this ‘they’ business is soooo confusing! Do you have two partners?! It’s really hard to read!”

Of course, it’s not in the least bit confusing or hard to read. But certain posters are way more willing to criticise unreasonable behaviour in a man. And woe betide anyone who doesn’t specify their own gender.
