To think encouraging people to send chocolate secretly is not a good idea?

So Cadbury do this thing where you can send chocolate anonymously to someone. AIBU to think this is not something to be encouraged? I'd be disturbed receiving unexpected chocolate to my home address.

Would you freak out if someome knocked your door too.

Greenshake · 17/11/2023 11:34

The vast majority of people will take this as intended. I really wouldn’t worry about it.

No because it wouldn't be anonymous

I’d be over the moon if this happened to me 😁

Stroopwaffels · 17/11/2023 11:37

I'd be delighted with proper free chocolate, Cadbury's not so much as it's palm oil filled shite.

There are many more creepy things that people might choose to do.

MonsteraMama · 17/11/2023 11:38

...why? Genuinely, why would you find it disturbing to receive chocolate? Do you have a history with someone stalking you?

Like if you don't want the chocolate fair enough, bin it, but in what way is it disturbing?

Grimmz · 17/11/2023 11:38

It's a marketing campaign, not a siege. I think we'll all be okay

Queucumber · 17/11/2023 11:39

You’re right. Cadbury’s is awful now. If it were Tony’s …

ManateeFair · 17/11/2023 11:39

You do realise that if someone knows your address, they can (and have always been able to) send you anything anonymously, at any time?

This isn't something that has only been made possible by Cadbury's. Anyone can put some chocolate in a jiffy bag and post it to you anonymously any time they like. Cadbury's haven't enabled anyone to do anything they couldn't already do before.

Same 😁

GrandHighPoohbah · 17/11/2023 11:40

Feel free to forward any you receive that you find disturbing over to me! 😁

FloatingLog · 17/11/2023 11:41

I wouldn't eat food sent to me anonymously or given by someone I don't trust.

Just because they already know my address, doesn't make it less creepy. I'm hoping Cadbury has the details of the sender if anything goes wrong.

I think sending something anonymously to my home or work place is creepy.
If I were fundraising on an online platform and someone sent me a bg anon donation, great. Even a thank you letter and a voucher or a lottery card.. but some items like food, drink, jewellery, gushing letters...personal things are creepy.

LostThestral · 17/11/2023 11:45

I love the idea but have no idea where to find one of these posters with the code on to send any

BarbaraCadabra · 17/11/2023 11:45

I'm with you @wokbun , I feel uneasy when I see those adverts but I have received anonymous gifts and other creepy behaviours.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 17/11/2023 11:45

@FloatingLog why wouldn't you eat it? It comes direct from the company not the sender. There's an option to add a message but there's not a please add poison tick box

Incey · 17/11/2023 11:46

In theory I suppose people could commit covert harassment via chocolate. But if they want to do that there are a million ways to do it already.

I wouldn’t have a problem with this!

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 17/11/2023 11:48

The three most sinister things you can receive in the post - bullets, anthrax, and Cadbury Fruit & Nut.

😐

saraclara · 17/11/2023 11:49

I don't like anonymous anything. I'm boringly level headed and will answer my door to anyone. But anonymity unnerves me. If you want to send me a card or a gift, please tell me who it's from.

What do you mean by 'if anything goes wrong'? What could go wrong? Why would Cadbury need the sender's details?

What are you anticipating might "go wrong" with someone eating a bar of Dairy Milk? (ordered online, sent direct from teh factory through the post)?

MargaretThursday · 17/11/2023 11:53

Happy to have yours redirected.
I like Borneville fruit and nut if they still do that please.

It's not the same thing at all.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 17/11/2023 11:56

I can see why, if you have backstory with a stalker, weird jealous ex, etc, then receiving anything anonymously would be creepy. But otherwise…no.

widowtwankywashroom · 17/11/2023 11:56

I really do wonder how people get through life! Of all the things to get your knickers in a twist, someone who knows your address and pays to send you a present is not one of them!
Even if Cadburys is not your favourite chocolate, how can it be creepy?
Get a bloody grip

Daftapath · 17/11/2023 11:57

Can you send it to yourself?
