Nigel Farage in IACGMOOH anyone else not watching this year because he's in it??

I'm not going to watch, vote or engage with their social media. I plan to turn my back the same way he did to teenage musicians. I nothing would make me happier than seeing IACGMOFH veiwing figures collaps because of him.

So, AIBU or not?

He’s a champion grifter. The media doesn’t learn. They gave Boris a platform on HIGNFY to promote himself as being a loveable rogue, which helped him become PM, and now this.

Farage is the architect of this country’s descent into poverty. I don’t find him humorous in any way. I hope this backfires on ITV.

this.i won't watch it.i didn't watch Matt Hancock either. I really hope people just ignore him so he doesn't do trials .

Throwhandsupintheair · 17/11/2023 08:56

You can just imagine the coked up executive meeting where this idea was pitched: ‘I know who would be controversial and boost ratings!…’.

Next year they’ll have Tommy Robinson on.

None of the people involved in this decision give a shit about this country.

Kendodd · 17/11/2023 08:35

Thing is, as I understand it, the more trials you do and the longer you stay, the more money you get paid.

Nothing could be further from the truth. They get a set amount for appearance and that’s it. Noel Edmond’s got £600,000 for about ten days.

I think that myth comes from the idea that the longer they stay and the more trials they do, the more it raises their profile and therefore work offers when they come out.

And yes, I’m 100% watching. Can’t abide cancel culture.

Dontmesswiththeyakult · 17/11/2023 09:01

I quite like NG. I've not watched the show before, but I might this time round.

If you don't want to watch, fair enough. That's what the off button is for.

Dontmesswiththeyakult · 17/11/2023 09:02

That should have read NF not NG. Where's an edit button when you need one...

MinnieCauldwell · 17/11/2023 09:03

Farage gets to trouser 1.5 million quid regardless of how long he stays, expect he will be more than happy to go out first. I am disgusted that Boy George made light of his 'court case' .

FestiveSandman · 17/11/2023 09:04

YABU. The figures won’t collapse because of him, they will go UP because of him.

You understand wrong. They get the same amount no matter how long they stay.

How is people saying they don’t want to watch something on telly ‘cancel culture’?

For all the cries of cancel culture, I’ve never actually seen anyone cancelled. Even Kevin Spacey’s got a new movie out and I fully expect to see Russell Brand on telly again within the next couple of years.

And in any case Farage is impervious to cancellation. He’s had more BBC appearances than any elected politician. He’s like s turd that won’t flush or a dose of the clap. He won’t go away.

Also forcing yourself to watch something you don’t really want to watch due to your opposition to ‘cancel culture’ is quite silly.

peachescariad · 17/11/2023 09:08

Love him or hate him, he's still quite a charismatic, eloquent and intelligent character....no one cares if you watch it or not.
I never watch it but I think I will this year 😆

wited · 17/11/2023 09:11

The fee is arranged beforehand. You don't get more for staying in longer.

I never watch usually but I will this year so I will cancel out you not watching. I think more will watch than usual.

Lorrymum · 17/11/2023 09:12

I must be getting old because I only recognise a couple of the "celebrities."

YaWeeFurryBastard · 17/11/2023 09:14

I don’t usually watch but I will be watching because he’s in it and I know others feel the same.

I don’t like or agree with him, but I’ll still be watching.

andymary · 17/11/2023 09:16

"Nigel Farage in IACGMOOH anyone else not watching this year because he's in it??"

I don't watch it anyway, but being as I'm an adult and not a child, if I did, I'd still watch it.
Just because one person is in something who you may not like, doesn't mean to say that you can't not watch said thing.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 17/11/2023 09:17

I don't understand what there is to be angry about him being on I'm a Celeb. It isn't going to rehabilitate his political career. The opposite. It's confirmation that he now accepts his true calling as freaky Z list narcissist.
Politicians on a downwards trajectory who go on the show usually make noises about using it to get their views across in the popular culture sphere. But nobody really believes that, do they?

2dogsandabudgie · 17/11/2023 09:17

Throwhandsupintheair - It's an entertainment programme, it's not a serious political debate. Of course they want celebrities who get people talking about the show and boost viewing figures.

I used to watch it, but haven't for quite a few years as I now find it boring and predictable, so I won't be watching it this year, nothing to do with NF though

k then you watch it and enjoy 😃

Plisco · 17/11/2023 09:20

I wouldn't watch it anyway.

What I'd really like is if they just swapped him over with that "loneliest sheep" who's been in the news. The sheep gets airlifted out and Farage gets put on the inaccessible beach on his own with a supply of food. I really feel like they've missed an opportunity there. I mean, I would't watch that either, but it would be nice to know he was out of the way.

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/11/2023 09:21

Seen about 10 minutes of the rubbish, years ago. That was more than enough.

People are saying they don’t want to watch it because Farage is on it. This implying if he wasn’t, they’d watch. That’s cancel culture.

if you’ve never seen anyone being cancelled I suggest you google Graham Lineham.

Xmaswomble · 17/11/2023 09:22

It sickens me tbh. It’s a play for power - he’ll go on and show ‘what a jolly good guy he is’, waltz out and then - he hopes - into PM.

it’s insidious. He’s a nasty racist looking to divide this country. As they say abusers aren’t nasty 100% of the time or no-one would like them. I thought people might have learn with Boris but apparently not. All a bit of a laugh innit 🙄

InvisibleDuck · 17/11/2023 09:22

YANBU not to watch a TV show if you don't want to.
YABU to want 'don't watch' social media campaigns.

Watch or don't. Leave other people alone to make their own decisions.

I have never watched this show and won't start now. I watched Celebrity SAS featuring Matt Hancock, although I despise Matt Hancock, because I enjoy the show and it wasn't all about him.

If someone else hates Hancock or Farage enough that they can't bear to even see them on screen, I think it's a bit weird, but not my problem. Watch what you want.

Libertass · 17/11/2023 09:25

I don’t watch I’m a celeb anyway, but if Farage is in the show I might give it a try. Whether I agree with him or not, (and I don’t), I acknowledge that he is the most influential British politician since Thatcher, so I would be interested to see how he gets on. I suspect he will do well.

it isn't cancel culture its like not watching Graham Norton because you don't like a guest or the line up. I'm not "canceling " the guest I just don't want to listen to what they are flogging!

No that’s not cancel culture. The man is still on the telly. If ITV announced he would no longer be on the show due to viewers demanding he be removed, and he never got a tv or media gig following this, and we never heard from him again, that would be a cancellation.

A few thousand viewers deciding they don’t want to watch the programme is not cancellation.

Do we all have to watch and read everything to prevent being accused of cancelling someone?

There are some celebs I don’t want to watch like Claudia Winkleman, so I don’t watch her shows. That doesn’t mean she’s been ‘cancelled’. It’s not that hard to grasp.
