NIGEL FARAGE ON GB NEWS - WTF???

hideoushideoushideous · 11/11/2023 17:38

GB 'News' - when did this start? It's not even news - there's no on the scene reporters. Just dubious characters and selected commentators spewing xenophobic shite.

When all other news channels were reporting the developing situation in Gaza this week, all GB News we're doing was attempting to stir up outrage about today's Pro-Palestinian March.

I couldn't believe what I saw. Farage has his own show to spew his poisonous divisive diatribe. He was showing some random photo of some (white, middle-aged) poppy sellers outside a tube station. There were people from last weekend's Palestinian support march coming out if the tube station. Some had children. Some were non-white (as in any London street). All just walking - nothing to remark about. Farage was saying the photo was definitive evidence that immigration has gone too far and we have brought in too many people "who don't share British values." Wtf! Most if the people in the photo are probably as British as him! Farage is despicable and his language is that of hate and division. I can't believe he gets away with it.

I can only assume Suella Braverman is auditioning for GB News, given her pathetic attempts to incite division this week.

Well NF and SB - looks like your vile narrative has backfired. Who were the ones arrested for disorder today? The Far Right morons (what GB News would equate with the 'Great British Public').

NF (and SB) need to go. They are dangerous. Enough is enough. AIBU.

These people are irrelevant and pointless. That's why they have created their channel to spout their irrelevant bollocks on that nobody watches, apart from thick knuckle dragging incels or slutty 'one of the boys' narcissistic women

‘Irrelevant bollocks’ that nobody watches and yet they consistently beat Sky news and BBC news with their viewing figures. Oh dear, there must be more knuckle dragging incels and sluts around than you thought, hey? 🙄

No they don't. Their numbers are nowhere near other News channels.

OP, he's been on GB News (or GB Views to reflect it's content) for a while.

As for Jacob Rees-Mogg, I don't know how he squared his religious convictions with being in Boris Johnson's government. Or being prepared to ask the late Queen to do what Charles I did which led to his execution in 1649.

I said at Prime time they have similar figures to Sky news and BBC and have often beaten them, anyway not bad going for a channel that’s only been around a couple of years.

It’ll be interesting to see figures as it progresses, I can’t see why they won’t go up. People are irritated and see it as an alternative

It’s not really my thing (I don’t watch news anyway I listen) but I do think the BBC has to work harder to maintain non bias. And that’s shown in falling fee payers

TooBigForMyBoots · 12/11/2023 17:11

You said they consistently beat Sky News and BBC News with their viewing figures. That's not true @WinterWaffle . You're either wishful thinking or blindly believing the shite GB News claim is Fact.

CaramacFiend · 12/11/2023 17:21

As our public services become ever more dysfunctional I think we'll see an increasing number of people taking up anti immigration stances.

lljkk · 12/11/2023 18:02

Immigrants are the people propping up British services (bus drivers, tube staff, NHS, bin men, social care staff, etc). Public services would be in a much more dire state without the immigrants.

But these are people that have presumably done it the official way. No doubt some people have prejudice against them too but this isn't really where the debate seems to lie. Most of the angry right wing people are banging on about the government spending millions a day on hotels etc.

lljkk · 12/11/2023 18:12

Honestly, speaking as a well-educated immigrant on approved visa (never illegal), when Michael Howard banged on about horrible asylum seekers in the 1990s or early 00s, I thought he meant me. The anti-immigrant sentiment was what I understood.

If he had said refugee I might have thought he maybe didn't mean me, but not sure. "Asylum seeker" is such jargon that it confused me, but the part I understood was "too much net immigration"

MorningHood · 12/11/2023 18:14

Gawdsake, there is so much crap being peddled on this thread about both ‘sides’ it’s no wonder there is so much polarisation and that GB news exists tbh.

The sheer ignorance😅

It reminds me of the Brexit debate. Anyone who supported leave was frequently tarred as a nasty intolerant thick racist. The worst intolerance I have ever seen is that from that small % of remainers who still recoil with visceral horror when you tell them you voted to leave. They never want a debate they just want to vent bile.

My husband and I went to top universities, are both from very ordinary families and have people of many faiths and ethnicities in our lives. That is not inconsistent with being someone who voted Leave or who thinks GB news is quite good.
Don’t agree with the opinion of everyone who’s on GB news, but same goes for BBC. As Nigel Farage so frequently points out on his show - it’s about having a reasonable debate.

Debate becomes impossible as soon as nasty labels are thrown.

Couldn't agree more.
I switched it on this morning to avoid football and sport on other channels and saw an interview with an ex-KGB agent giving his views on Putin, Russia, the Ukraine conflict and NATO. His views were interesting, qualified by his own experience and, sometimes, different to those I had heard before. The interviewer said at the end "Well there's something I haven't heard before but it doesn't do us any harm to hear something new to think about". That is why I like dipping into GB News - you hear unexpectedly different views and open discussion, it isn't just the right wing propaganda you expect.
Sounds like the OP might benefit from a more open outlook rather than such closed and fixed views

TooBigForMyBoots · 12/11/2023 23:43

If you tune in more often, you'll hear more of the same @QueenOfHiraeth. It's called KGB News for a reason.😆

I though that sentence was going to end in the opposite direction. That we would see more and more immigration to prop up services.

I'm guessing you didn't look at Vote Leave on Facebook. Populated with the most hideous racism, post after post. There were even posts on there celebrating the Grenfell fire and they would get hundreds and hundreds of likes. I think they had 2 million followers.

I would also point out that every racist group in the UK supported Leave, not a single one of them supported Remain. So, EDL, BNP, National Action, Britain First, Patriotic Alternative, that football supporters one, the lot. The accusations of racism didn't come from nowhere.

Adamfromgirls · 13/11/2023 10:28

ITV should also be ashamed for having NF on I'm a Celebrity just to increase their viewing figures. TBH I think it's much worse than GB news.

Adamfromgirls · 13/11/2023 10:28

And to be clear I think that's a pile of shit.

hideoushideoushideous · 13/11/2023 10:55

That vile woman is SACKED! 👏

Looks like there's some grain of sense left in the world after all.

Regarding vote leave - a couple of black friends voted leave for various reasons (quite a few people of colour did). They were mortified to realise they shared the vote with racists. Even more mortified to witness that leaving the EU has been of no benefit whatsoever and that the vote saw the unleashing of unprecedented racism in this country.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 15/11/2023 10:01

I'm disgusted to see Farage on a news show. Although unsurprisingly to see him on that particular show, seeing that it is an advert for the right. And frankly I was not happy on Monday when the BBC seemed to think the people to ask about the reshuffle were Nadine Dorries and Suella Braverman-one sacked and both disgraced.

Abhannmor · 15/11/2023 10:42

I had the misfortune to watch a bit of GBH News last time I was in the UK. Farage who has done such harm to Britain despite never being elected. And even being beaten by a man in a dolphin costume on one occasion.

Then Arlene Foster who seemed to think Brexit would wreck the Good Friday Agreement and take Northern Ireland back to a one party state with her lot in charge.

A bit like Fox News , where a plethora of shroud waving lunatics interview each other. One of my English relations had it on 24/7. Though I noticed he rarely watched it. More of a comfort blanket?

Jitterybugs · 15/11/2023 13:29

When Farage is home from the jungle I suspect he’ll secure a job for Braverman with the rest of the right wing has beens on GB news.

Dotjones · 15/11/2023 13:36

I watch GB news from time to time for about ten minutes. It's an alternative perspective on the news. All news presenters are biased, every outlet and every individual has an angle they are pushing - even if it's not overt, there is a reason why topics are covered or not, or what order they are covered in. People notice GB News because it's not left or centre-left like the BBC, ITN, Sky etc. It's no more biased than the others, it's just biased to the right instead of left.

That is true. Best to recognise bias of any outlet

GB News is not news.

It's not a news channel.

It's whole ethos is to deceive the gullible.

Nope. Even on Sky there is some attempt at balance and objectivity. GBN is a straight up propaganda outlet. When I watched there was a constant barrage of adverts proclaiming : Nigel Farage is on your side! Quite bizarre.

I mean you don't get lectured on how great Kay Burkey or Kirsty Wark are. Thank god. Their job is to present the bloody news , not make it up.
