NIGEL FARAGE ON GB NEWS - WTF???

GB 'News' - when did this start? It's not even news - there's no on the scene reporters. Just dubious characters and selected commentators spewing xenophobic shite.

When all other news channels were reporting the developing situation in Gaza this week, all GB News we're doing was attempting to stir up outrage about today's Pro-Palestinian March.

I couldn't believe what I saw. Farage has his own show to spew his poisonous divisive diatribe. He was showing some random photo of some (white, middle-aged) poppy sellers outside a tube station. There were people from last weekend's Palestinian support march coming out if the tube station. Some had children. Some were non-white (as in any London street). All just walking - nothing to remark about. Farage was saying the photo was definitive evidence that immigration has gone too far and we have brought in too many people "who don't share British values." Wtf! Most if the people in the photo are probably as British as him! Farage is despicable and his language is that of hate and division. I can't believe he gets away with it.

I can only assume Suella Braverman is auditioning for GB News, given her pathetic attempts to incite division this week.

GB News is not a news channel. Its a RW opinion channel where sex offenders, Climate change deniers and Tory MPs are paid to tell us what they think.

It's not all bad though. It has some gems. I love the face Josh Howie does when he speaks the channel's view but doesn't believe a word of it. I'm really enjoying The Dinosaur Hour too.

But mostly it's nasty and hate mongering. What it isn't is a news channel.

@Coveescapee the issue here is that TR and his mates had no need to be near the Cenotaph. The pro Palestine march route wasn't scheduled to go near it, so what were they doing there but stirring up trouble? Who were they protecting it from, the people paying homage?

Farage is actually a fantastic interviewer. One of the best I've seen.

I do find it amusing when extreme left-wingers are suddenly exposed to something that makes them realise not everyone thinks like them, their echo chamber implodes, and this is their reaction... they just can't cope with people having different worldviews. The only way they can rationalise is to brand it with vague labels like "far right" and "xenophobic", reassuring themselves that they're the good, enlightened ones.

I find it distinctly unamusing and worrying when people believe that GB News is a news channel.

What about the BBC? Are you aware that the BBC has been getting its casualty figures from Gaza's Hamas-run health service, which doesn't even distinguish between civilian and military casualties? It depends on your measuring stick, but the BBC certainly isn't a source of reliable, balanced news.

There IS a problem of people holding illiberal, anti-Semitic values in the UK, and this comes in part from the left-wing middle classes and from the more extreme ends of Islamism.

There has been a lot of research into anti-Semitism within certain factions of the Muslim community. If it's ok to talk about, for example, the problem of how gay people have been treated by the Church, it needs to also be ok to talk about how Jewish people are perceived by Muslims. It is a problem and we aren't doing anyone any favours by not talking about it and confronting it. (YES this is a highly nuanced issue, not involving all Muslims, obviously).

You're offended on behalf of people with views who SHOULD be called out. If some of these people have imported their views from countries where Jews are more overtly discriminated against, that does not mean we shouldn't confront it.

'The right' love to moan about how 'the Left' control the media when in fact they have all of the papers bar 2 and now 2 tv channels entirely devoted to spreading absolute Nationalist bollox.

Add to that the fact that MPs aren't allowed to report on news channels but when asked to look into Farage (and now even Boris!) Ofcom insist GB News isn't a news channel, even though it has news in the title and won a news channel award and, well, it's a feckin' enormously sad state of affairs all round, really!

I'm conflicted on GB news. I like the idea of hearing opinions and news from different angles and there is no denying the BBCs left wing bias. However GB news seems to be as right wing as the BBC is left.

It's one of the few channels which tries to air both sides of an argument on the majority of its segments via the guests it has on (regardless of the opinions of its presenters), which very few other channels do.

One of the reasons the BBC has been accused of bias is this - you very often only hear one side of the argument and it becomes an echo chamber. I rather like the Michelle Dewberry slot at 6pm, her guests are always one on the right and one on the left.

@CharingX976 so a dissenting voice, from a Holocaust scholar who is actually Israeli, is an example of xenophobia from the Guardian? Looks to me like some people just want to think the Israeli government are whiter than white, Let's not forget that before Hamas started this current spate of terrorist activity, Israelis were protesting in their tens of thousands against their own government's plans to politicise the justice system and stop it from holding the government to account.

Yes I am aware of this. The BBC make viewers aware of this in their reports. BBC News along with others are quite reliable.

GB News is a right wing opinion channel. It's not a news channel. That's why it gets repetitive and Ofcom investigations.

It's the minimising of the Holocaust that is a problem, and this is widely accepted as being problematic. the Holocaust is a perfectly legitimate reason for Jews to demand their rights to a safe and secure homeland, and to defend it with everything they have.
And you're wrong, I was also very opposed to and concerned about the Israeli governments plans to change the justice system. I'm not justifying everything the Israeli government has done, but I am saying that many mainstream media outlets have demonstrated atrocious reporting on the conflict. Not least because they take their casualty figures from the Hamas-run health ministry.
