To think her attitude stunk?

Went into branch today to get a print of of my statement (needed for new job) and I got told to go to the desk.

Which I did and then the woman serving me was like “we don’t do that at this desk, I’ll do it for you just this time but next time just remember” “I was told to come to this desk?” “Like I said we don’t do it here, like can’t you just use your app and transfer it?”

There was a printer right next to her and she did print it off. I just don’t think such a simple request, needed so much attitude? Honestly her voice is full of annoyance.

I have a problem with the staff member feeling the need to train a customer rather than the previous staff member who sent you to the wrong place .
I don't love being kindly lectured as if I actually worked there.

I've encountered this in bank branches before. Not as rude as in the OP's case, but "you can do that on the self-service machine, let me show you" or "you can do that on our app". I do try and point out that they're making their own roles redundant by doing this.

Some of these responses are absolutely wild. OP made a normal, reasonable request that banks should have no problem fulfilling. I've had statements printed in branch before. It's common for people to have paper statements switched off (in fact, if you don't, every interaction with your bank will include a suggestion that you switch them off). Not everyone has a home printer. Printing statements on an ad hoc basis is a standard branch service.

I dont understand these bank staff. The more people do online, the more branches will be closed and the more of their jobs will be lost. I never understand why they are so rude and surly. They are fasttracking their own reduncancy

I’ve just been employed by a very large bank and I didn’t have to give them a bank statement as proof of address. They managed to do the identity checks and DBS checks without it. Some businesses sound too old fashioned to do it in a better way.

It depends what other ID you have as proof of address and photo ID as you need a combination. I needed the bank statement because I didn’t have some of the other forms of ID on the list. The bank statement had to be stamped and signed from the bank.
