I support the underlying message/cause but I just find it gross and crass. 🙄

I thought the new Kleenex and with the snotty tissues was bad enough, but this takes it to another level.
Awful,... to be honest I didn't even twig on to the message, I was too busy being revolted by it.
What is the message ?

myotherkidisacassowary · 24/11/2023 15:00

YANBU, saw it for the first time today and commented to my husband how gross it is. I suppose that’s why it’s effective but I hate it.

tobee · 24/11/2023 15:08

The problem for me is it loses its point and shock value because Channel 4 is endlessly trying to shock. It's just another in a a sea of similar

Candleabra · 24/11/2023 15:11

It’s an awful advert, not just because it’s truly disgusting, but I didn’t understand the message they were trying to convey. Epic fail.

2pence · 29/11/2023 00:29

We should be shocked. We tread carefully (consciously watching our own carbon footprint) while big businesses sh!t out pollution and place profits over reducing consumption (the skid mark analogy).

LegoDeathTrap · 29/11/2023 00:34

Love it.

The ad is not as disgusting as the actual carbon footprint of some of these fuckers. Good for making it explicit.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 29/11/2023 00:44

Whoever came up with that ad probably has a questionable hard drive.

SprinkleOfSunak · 29/11/2023 01:07

I was left open mouthed for the first few seconds, but then couldn’t stop laughing and wondering what was going to happen next. My Husband also had the same reaction.

I thought it was advertising some kind of bizarre comedy channel 4 programme though, and was surprised to see there was a serious message behind it.

I don’t think it should be on before 9pm, as I wouldn’t like my young children to see it, it’s far too sexualised for pre-watershed.

DonnaBanana · 29/11/2023 01:30

Once they started allowing blood in adverts, the floodgates were sure to open for more gross bodily references unfortunately

Shocked by the behaviour of big corporations, yes.

But that’s not what is shocking about this advert. People are seeing sexualised behaviour in soiled underwear before the watershed, and no connection is being made.

An advert that preaches to the choir and repels the potential congregation is a failure.

2pence · 29/11/2023 07:52

You see I don't think it does miss the (skid)mark!

You see it, you feel disgusted. What's it about? Big corporations f'ing us over, doing what they please while the earth's temperatures rise. It's them who could work more sustainably and make the sacrifice in their wallets. Do they? Nah! They continue in their hedonism. Perhaps they do need shaming in their dirty pants?

As for the pearl clutching at showing blood in an advert for menstruation. Seriously, get a grip! We don't bleed blue water!

If people are telling you it has missed the mark, it’s missed the mark. People writhing around in underwear with skid marks is not being associated with the message. It’s turning people off, and discouraging them from watching the programme it’s advertising.

Agree with you on the blood/blue water thing in general, but the sight of body fluids (especially while eating tea, for example) makes some people nauseated, which is nothing to do with pearl clutching.

2pence · 29/11/2023 12:27

Didn't miss the mark for me though @IrresponsiblyCertainAboutSexualDimorphism.

And I'm now engaged and will now watch the programmes.

Your mileage may vary of course.

Yes. That’s my point. You are obviously already engaged, so the advert was not aimed at you.

If the aim of the advert is to please you it has succeeded, but surely the purpose of the advert is to draw the un-engaged in. And it’s done the opposite - all it has done is disgust them.

2pence · 29/11/2023 22:49

How amazing that you know what I think and feel better than I do myself @IrresponsiblyCertainAboutSexualDimorphism!

What am I up to tomorrow, anything good?

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 30/11/2023 11:58

Yes I think it’s disgusting and it’s on at all times of the day too which is highly inappropriate. I have complained to ofcom about it which I’ve never felt I needed to do about anything before.

Jenloy7 · 04/12/2023 15:26

It is vile and on while children can see it, I complained to OFCOM and suggest others do, it's a simple form online. Get this filth airing after the watershed. It's an insult to us all and disrespectful to families with kids .

Jenloy7 · 04/12/2023 15:29

It's also on first thing in the morning where kids can see it. It's disgusting and disrespectful to us all fillbout complaints form on OFCOM site and help get it off or at least after the Watershed.

Deanwayne123 · 10/12/2023 08:58

Disgusting and stupid , what a waste of money .

Newestname002 · 10/12/2023 16:14

I've seen it from start to finish once, and was grossed out enough not to take in whatever message they were trying to put across. The second time I shut it down after a nanosecond and switched channels. I'll willing to bet that's not the reaction the owners of the advert were trying to capture. 🌹

DisabledDemon · 12/12/2023 16:40

I did complain and got a typically meaningless response:
