I support the underlying message/cause but I just find it gross and crass. 🙄

It's got you all talking so I guess its done its job.

Lets face it, we are killing the planet and a lot of that fault lies with politicians and big businesses. Highlighting that through shock value and getting people talking is the purpose of the ad, because we need to be having this conversation right now.

S x

Surely it's the wrong conversation? The conversation seems to be about how rubbish the approach is!

bellac11 · 11/11/2023 17:20

I don't think business people using private jets are repulsive, there's not enough of them to be making an impact that is much more different than the rest of us. I think disposable nappies are repulsive and have caused a huge impact around the world but no one's talking about that

tsmainsqueeze · 11/11/2023 23:22

I find it repulsive , all i'm thinking when watching it is how i would be recoiling and avoiding those people if they came anywhere near me in that situation.
I get that its probably to do with environmental issues but haven't listened as its so vile.

Battye · 12/11/2023 03:44

I watched in total disbelief .I panicked at first that they all had s**t themselves.
It is disgusting. Why would any channel show something like this?!

JanusP · 13/11/2023 15:58

It's absolutely disgusting, I hate it.

Calamity20 · 13/11/2023 17:41

I've literally just sent a complaint to channel 4. I'm disgusted at this advert. There is no excuse for the vulgar imagery used. I only picked up one message from the advert, 'change channel'. Can the message be conveyed with civility and zero depravity? Angry and disgusted! I'm sorry that I've seen it, I really am.

Di98a · 13/11/2023 18:02

I have already lodged a complaint

Cleo1969 · 13/11/2023 19:35

Yes I was dumbfounded....I get it..it's to shock make you sit up and take notice ..but they have gone too far..I just want to switch off its disgusting and if its the only way they can think to get their message across then it scares me the intelligence of these people...also when u think.back in the day when there were factories everywhere and cities were covered in smog and pollution and waste was dumped in rivers there was nothing about carbon footprint or how it was affecting the planet.. makes you wonder if its just another made up lie to manipulate us to pay more taxes...just my thoughts

UnderstatedElegance · 13/11/2023 21:03

I hate it, it's so crass.

Drewjan · 13/11/2023 22:49

I just made a complaint about this add on the ‘ASA’ website - asa.org.uk. Highly recommend as many people complain as possible if you want this shocking advert taken off the air - like many others I think it’s an important topic, but this is not the way to get people on side!

Rainallnight · 13/11/2023 22:53

It’s horrible, yet here we all are talking about it, so it’s done its job.

Nobody is talking about whatever the message was supposed to be though. They are just talking about the content of the advert.

Correct.

Wolvesart · 14/11/2023 10:58

It’s disgusting and some people who share one of my family surnames in my (Skidmore) will experience a resurgence of name call bullying. It’s also vulgar, which is never a good approach to getting any message across. It’s using slang and near swear words and might normalise. Basically, thoughtless, childish and dim witted marketing

Auntiedons · 14/11/2023 13:10

I find the skid mark ad absolutely disgusting and to be honest I have to look away every time it comes on, especially if I'm eating. Get rid of it along with the bent politicians

Bronzenettle · 14/11/2023 13:14

Yanbu. I don’t watch much tv so saw this for the first time last night. Definitely pre watershed and definitely so revolting that I had to look away and didn’t have a clue what the message was until it appeared again in the next ad break.

Redbushteaforme · 14/11/2023 13:39

A bit over the top and not suitable for pre-watershed viewing but I have seen and heard worse in the way of commercials/trailers, and am interested in watching the TV series it promotes now. The real point is that while many ordinary people are doing their best to help address climate change, the powers-that-be, whether that is in big business or government are not. There is greenwashing wherever you look, and people who are telling us how we should act are not doing it themselves - Rishi Sunak with your private plane to Aberdeen recently, and bl**dy Lorna Slater (Green MSP and Scotgov Minister for reasons which escape most of us) with your private cruise boat journey to Mull, I'm looking at you, and lots of your hypocritical pals.

Bigmarj73 · 14/11/2023 14:13

I have already put in a complaint to the ASA it is the most revolting of all the adverts that have been done recently

Yorkshiremum58 · 14/11/2023 16:12

It's vulgar. Puts me off watching

Calamity20 · 14/11/2023 17:20

Good for you! I complained to c4 and i hope many others do too. It really is sickening. I don't need someone's vulgar idea of a collection of images to convey any message. I continually feel sick at the state of the environment. I was brought up to put rubbish in the bin or bring it home. I pick up my dog poop and feel worried about the world my children will grow up in and like most people, i didn't need to see a vulgar message to put me on the straight and narrow! With all these worries plus life's challenges I don't need to see images in my home, in the evening, that I haven't chosen to watch. The people that need to be reminded of how sickening destruction to the environment by humanity, are most likely the people who won't even notice that there is a message in the midst of a depraved sketch and may even enjoy it! Still livid!

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 15/11/2023 15:02

Urgh, just seen this mid Countdown! Came on here to see if anyone else hated it. I wondered what the heck it was advertising at first. Thought it was adult nappies when they were all bouncing around!

DiscoBeat · 15/11/2023 15:05

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. But it's got people talking...

Dotjones · 15/11/2023 15:18

I hadn't seen it before clicking this. I don't find it particularly objectionable, it kind of confirms my view of those pushing the climate change agenda.

I was the same! I thought I had stumbled across some gross TV show that I didn't mean to surf to. Very rarely am I "Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells" but I am with this. I'm just thinking WTF do C4 think they are doing??
