I support the underlying message/cause but I just find it gross and crass. 🙄

direct your complaints to the ASA
channel 4 will brush them under the carpet

Isn't its whole point to give feelings of disgust?

I'd say if it gives you the ick then it's been a successful campaign.

Industry and big businesses should be held accountable for their carbon footprints. Sometimes you need something visceral to wake you up and see how revolting their actions actually are. As an effective metaphor that meets its brief, the ads are spot on.

Again it’s a stupidly expensive trailer that wastes a lot of time, money and effort in its making. That’s hypocrisy.
Are C4 known for being eco friendly? I mean they pay their execs stupid amounts of money so living frugally isn’t encouraged.

The advert itself is disgusting. So disgusting that whatever message it was trying to give, whatever parallels it was trying to draw, were lost.

I don’t understand why some people on this thread think it’s a success. No-one is talking about disgust at big business - they are disgusted at the content of the advert, especially the sexualised aspect which just makes it seem like a fetish video. Fine if you like that kind of thing, but don’t be broadcasting it into people’s living rooms.

I've made a complaint to the advertising agency. It's disgraceful

Aggietours · 17/11/2023 09:23

I’m so glad I am not the only one who watched this open mouthed. It’s appalling! I’ve made a complaint to channel 4 but I’m not sure I left it in right place. I can’t even watch it!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/11/2023 09:36

I was gobsmacked watching this. Just gross.

Milsey17 · 18/11/2023 09:57

I felt the same, but I think it's the point! It makes us feel uncomfortable and grossed out which is what these elites are doing to our environment!

Jac41 · 18/11/2023 14:27

I complained directly to advertising standards

Staged · 19/11/2023 17:50

This advert is turned off everyone's television that I know.Gross Gross 😝 😝 😝 😝 😝 Gross__

Happyface246 · 19/11/2023 18:39

How do you complain to ofcom? I hate the advert!

Cookingdoesntgettougher · 19/11/2023 19:02

Really don’t like that.
I think if it was an advert by a campaign group then the object might be to disgust me enough to take action.

However as a trailer the object is to get you interested enough to watch the programmes. In my case it has failed.

Im sure there are important arguments about business and politics and the environment, maybe in the series but I’ll only watch if I happen to catch it, not going to look out for it on the strength of the trailer. It feels like a series biased to one view, putting me off, at the start even if the actual shows are more nuanced.

Americano75 · 19/11/2023 19:25

I don't suppose anyone knows what the music they're using is? It's literally the only good thing about it. 😆

Steve51 · 20/11/2023 09:55

My wife and I think you are totally reasonable in your thoughts. This advert is gross and disgusting and should never be allowed to be aired on TV. Yes something needs to happen but not this way.

Jac41 · 20/11/2023 13:07

I reported it to advertising agency. Its appalling

LadyBevvy · 20/11/2023 16:53

It's very ugly, not just the subject matter but the way it's shot and the aesthetics, the way the actors move, facial expressions. It's like a Hieronymous Bosch triptych. So, yeah, just even on the look and feel, it's jarring and ugly. I saw it in the conema with dd and we were both like wtf???

Doone22 · 21/11/2023 18:00

It's vile and unnecessary and I complained. They don't need to be showing that every 5 mins at teatime

SueDee · 23/11/2023 13:09

I did complain to channel 4 about this dreadful advert. It's so shocking it totally loses the message it's trying to portray. The man in his underpants moving his hips is so revolting, especially being shown at tea time.

Libda · 23/11/2023 21:17

I immediately got in touch with the ASA but nothing has happened to take it off the TV .. it's absolutely disgusting and in such bad taste! How did this get past the authorities .. obviously nothing is now too low a subject for the advertisers to made their money!!!

Libda · 23/11/2023 21:21

I won't watch it so change channels every time it comes on .. it won't get by viewing votes for the advertisers .. it disgusting and a disgrace that this got past the advertising authority .. obviously money means more than decency now!!!

Mouldyfoodhelp · 23/11/2023 21:22

I was certainly surprised by the advert but find some of the histrionic language in here OTT.

I do think the message gets lost somewhat which is a shame as we should be holding these people to a standard.

Channel 4 are also the sodding elites! , Their employees earn an absolute fortune. This ad cost an absolute fortune. Where do think all that money goes - yes, on consumerism.
I bet you anything you want, the people that thought up the ad, the production team and the people in the ad aren’t doing all they can for the environment either.

GSXR · 24/11/2023 14:29

Everybody should complain to Ch 4 and tell them how gross it is.

HikingforScenery · 24/11/2023 14:33

i don’t watch live tv so bad never seen or heard about this advert. I didn’t finish watching the link either. Disgusting.
