I support the underlying message/cause but I just find it gross and crass. 🙄

Oh my gosh, that is horrific!!! Disgusting and needlessly sexual. Awful

Deecheetham · 09/11/2023 16:47

This ad made me feel sick . Its disgusting and vile . I would hate to think kids would see it ! Yes we have a huge environmental problem but this is definitely not helping anyone . It's degrading and way over the top . It's not decent , it's gross and horrific .

funbags3 · 09/11/2023 16:48

I think I'm the only one that actually likes it.😜

CaptainMyCaptain · 09/11/2023 16:49

It's horrible. I can't see it influencing anybody who isn't currently on board.

PurplePositivity · 09/11/2023 17:01

Wow!

I agree with the underlying message but what's with the dry humping, I did watch with no sound but it's very odd, we've come along way since Mary Whitehouse & not in a good way!

YANBU

LittleMooli · 09/11/2023 17:07

They could have conveyed the message in that article much better and got people talking about the issues more. Instead they've just grossed people out

EvilElsa · 09/11/2023 17:14

I thought it was some kind of ad for a fetish documentary at first.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 09/11/2023 17:17

Nothing like a Mumsnet competitive outrage thread for a bit of ridiculous hyperbole.

If you watched that and were stunned, left open-mouthed, rendered speechless etc, then you must have lead an extremely sheltered existence to this point.

It's tacky and bizarre, but it sticks in the mind and gets people talking. Can't see anything remotely shocking or disgusting about it. Some fully clothed people gyrating a bit and fake soiling themselves. Seen far worse at closing time down the local.

Busephalus · 09/11/2023 17:19

It's doing what it set out to do

Busephalus · 09/11/2023 17:20

If its so offensive to little kids, turn the TV off before school, I'd never seen it before here

OneTC · 09/11/2023 17:25

needlessly sexual

Crikey

LittleMooli · 09/11/2023 17:27

It's a bit off. For a channel usually so good with disability I'm not sure why they appear to be mocking faecal incontinence.

Lulu1919 · 09/11/2023 17:29

Terrible....I watched it not understanding what it was just that I didn't like it ....some very sexualised moves I feel.

NovemberRain23 · 09/11/2023 17:33

Appalling.
And hypocritical. A lot of carbon got wasted on that bunch of nonsense.

JL690 · 09/11/2023 17:34

It's repulsive. It might get people talking, but only about how vomit inducing it is, not about the issue it's about.

Nellieinthebarn · 09/11/2023 17:34

Its absolutely gross, but I guess that is the point they're attempting to make. I don't think its effective in getting the message across though, it certainly wouldn't make me think 'Ooh that looks like a well researched and important programme, I must watch that' Which is what this issue needs.

Nineteendays · 09/11/2023 17:37

It’s a shit advert

literally

mogsrus · 09/11/2023 17:38

Absolutely gross by any stretch of imagination 💭

ManateeFair · 09/11/2023 17:38

It's supposed to be shocking and gross. That's the entire point of the advert.

It has to a) get your attention, b) make you associate environmental damage with something disgusting and c) imply that the people at the top are behaving immorally and hedonistically while the planet's dying, like Nero playing his fiddle while Rome burns.

As for 'not suitable for children', well, I'm sure your children are adults and having a miserable quality of life in world fucked up by climate change, they'll be really grateful that you wanted to ban a hard-hitting advert against carbon consumption because it had some dirty pants in it.

"Thank god Mummy had her priorities right," they'll say as their homes are overwhelmed by tidal waves and their bread ration is halved for the second time that year, "she could have spent her time and energy complaining about the environmental negligence of big business and Western governments that ended up destroying my future, but instead she made it her mission to protect me from a satirical allusion to poo on Channel 4"

ssd · 09/11/2023 17:38

Its sooo bad i hate it

CaptainMyCaptain · 09/11/2023 17:41

Busephalus · 09/11/2023 17:19

It's doing what it set out to do

Is it though? Or is it preaching to the converted and putting anybody else off watching. It has a few people discussing the ad on MN is that really what it set out to do?

NovemberRain23 · 09/11/2023 17:44

Busephalus · 09/11/2023 17:19

It's doing what it set out to do

Does it?
I mean we’re talking about the trailer not the issue. I’ve immediately assumed the programme, whatever it was, was over produced, biased, crap ( at least that stuck in my head).

I’ve never actually seen a skid mark in real life. Everyone I know including the kids can wipe their arses.

RubyWinehouse · 09/11/2023 18:11

Partner said is it meant to depict everyone shitting themselves over global warming!

Nah, it just looks like a bunch of Tories who were sold cocaine laced with Orlistat at one of the lockdown 'meetings'.

Charms23 · 09/11/2023 18:24

Think this advert should be banned it's not suitable to be aired when children around and tbh I think it's distasteful. My grandson asked me why they were undressing and why did they soil in their pants as they are adults ? He's 6 ?
surely they could come up with a better ad than that 🤔
