DD is 15, shes had a few issues with people, got into a few arguments, nothing major and mainly over whatsapp etc, she does seem to get involved in the drama. But a lot of her friends are similar and there are often fallings out but then friends again the next week.

I just had a message from dd at school. she said two girls who she used to be friends with have waited outside her lesson for her and followed her. once she was on her own they put a coat over her head and started punching her in the head and pulling her hair and dragging her about.

she has told school and she said the girls are currently in isolation, I have called school who said they're investigating now and will call me back shortly.

I have never dealt with anything like this before. I just want to know what to expect and how seriously they should take it.

Phone the police. Your poor dd, I hope she is okay.

bumblefeline · 06/11/2023 12:32

Call the police, I hope your dd is ok.

NugsNotDrugs · 06/11/2023 12:32

I would go to the school right now.
you need to check on your poor Dd.

IfKipling · 06/11/2023 12:34

Yep I’d go to the school myself. If she was seriously injured or the school were not handling it expeditiously and very strongly I’d phone the police.

RainInNovember · 06/11/2023 12:38

thank you. DD is ok i think . she is messaging me shes on her lunch. she wants to stay at school i think the teachers keep coming and talking to her to find out whats happened.

I will speak to school and if i dont feel like theyre taking it seriously then i will escalate it.

will they be able to tell me what consequenses there will be for the girls?

Sounds like an assault to me, and the culprits are over the age of criminal responsibility. Regardless of what the school intend to do, I’d report it to the police.

Maxus · 06/11/2023 12:38

You need to involve the police. This is assault.

ThisIsntThe80sPat · 06/11/2023 12:38

Police. Little thugs. I hope your DD is ok op

Hermittrismegistus · 06/11/2023 12:38

Phone the police like you would if it happened outside of school. A punch to the head can kill.

ccvv · 06/11/2023 12:40

call the police

yellowlane · 06/11/2023 12:44

If you can I'd go to the school now and find out face to face from my dd what happened and make sure she doesn't need medical help.

RainInNovember · 06/11/2023 12:44

I will hear what school have to say and find out properly what happened and then i will contact the police. i have never had to contact police, is it 101 number or do i call local police or??

DD said a lot of people saw and have told teachers they were really going for her

Call the police

If some of my colleagues waited outside the office to pull my coat over my head, punched my head, pulled my hair and dragged me around I wouldn't wait for HR to sort it out I would call the police for assault.

This is essentially the same

RainInNovember · 06/11/2023 12:45

thanks, she said she isnt in any physical pain. she said the hair pulling was the worst but the punches wernt too bad especially as she had a coat over her

OP posts:
Tonia16 · 06/11/2023 12:48

Definitely call the police. School can only put the girls in isolation, which is not a serious consequence for a physical attack.
They need to face real consequences.

IfKipling · 06/11/2023 12:48

I really don’t think that you should leave her at school alone dealing with this, it is way beyond the skill level of a 15 year old to handle. I get that you are shocked, very shocked, I’d imagine but this is something you have to react too. It is very serious.

BodenCardiganNot · 06/11/2023 12:49

You need to ask if it has been filmed.

ExtraOnions · 06/11/2023 12:50

I imagine school will have CCTV, and will be taking witness statements, why not see what that tells you first.

19lottie82 · 06/11/2023 12:51

Definitely call the police. I don’t imagine the school will.

RainInNovember · 06/11/2023 12:52

thanks yes i will wait to hear what school have said before i take it further but im going to get her now

@RainInNovember

Check that the attack wasn't recorded on mobile phones

Dd was attacked a few years ago, and we later found out that they had recorded and shared it on Social Media

Change4321 · 06/11/2023 12:54

Phone the police....I'm sure you would if that happened outside of school?

Absolutely! These shitty bullies need to have a kick up the arse, get frightened by the police and bloody behave like humans, not scavenging creatures - disgusting .. no doubt the school will try damage limitation approach

RainInNovember · 06/11/2023 12:57

i absolutley wont let it get brushed under the carpet. im horrified

OP posts:
TeenDivided · 06/11/2023 13:02

It isn't being brushed under the carpet.

The girls are already in isolation, the school is investigating. This means they will be taking statements from your DD, the other girls and any 3rd part witnesses.

Let the school have time to do their job before going down demanding action.
