First it was the dressing gown of doom. I now offer you 'the sigh'

So it used to be the shuffling in the dressing gown when your fella was ill. My husband doesn't have the dressing gown, but he does have 'the sigh'. He stands up, he sigh's. He goes the loo...he sighs. Hhhphhhh. He sneezes WACHOOOOOOO. He sighs.

My DD said we need to change his name to sighmon

I may strangle if I hear 'the sigh' once more.

Send this to the DM immediately. You'll probably get MN of the Year from them

@ManAboutTown

Hit a raw nerve did I? 😆

And was there really any need to quote the entire (long) post I put on? It was literally the one right before yours! 😂

Well if you join a forum that’s 95+% women, you just have to accept that there will be light hearted threads taking the piss out of blokes.

If you want to redress the balance, I’m sure there are dozens of male forums that say far, far worse things about women.

Exactly this. Women take the piss out of men, and on here we women are basically telling the truth about what our men are like.

Men do far FAR worse things to women! As Margaret Atwood said — 'Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them.'

Could equally say the same back

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 04/11/2023 12:38

Most recent ex used to have to TEXT me to tell me all his symptoms. He did it once too often - I was just out of hospital having had a major operation and he started texting me minute-by-minute updates about a rash on his leg.

He had to go. It was either split up or club him to death, so I chose the more humane option. He also had the 'shuffle of poorlyhood'.

Err, no you couldn't 'equally say the same back.' 😆 Your post I quoted was very short - AND my post quoting your post was half an hour, and quite a number of posts after yours! 😂

Nothing to say about the Margaret Atwood post from you though. Interesting................. Wink

Yes I can and you seem to have started on the wine a bit early

SweetFemaleAttitude · 04/11/2023 13:27

What's the female equivalent - maybe in trackpants taking breaks from Tricia to do the same sort of thing on here

Tricia? 😂. Wow.

When we start talking about fun ways to make men feel scared for their life just for the lols, or raping and killing men cos they don't fancy us, then you can compare Mumsnet to an incel forum.

There's always some miserable twat who comes along to piss on ya chips 🙄

I'm laughing too much to respond to this

Essenceofpetunia · 04/11/2023 13:30

@ManAboutTown are you feeling a bit under the weather? 😕🎻

SplendidUtterly · 04/11/2023 13:45

Some of you must have patients of a saint putting up with this man baby shite😂
The one time this happened to me i offered to drive him A&E and sit with him for as long as it took to be seen because i was so DONE with the moaning and mutters of "I'm going to end up a hospital case soon enough or dead in my bed" dramatics.
He just had a cold and tonsillitis FFS!!
(He declined my offer of the A&E visit btw and didn't end up dead in bed after all)

Well you obviously weren't 'laughing too much to respond', because you did, in fact, respond.

Quite - there's a stereotype of Incels sitting in their Mum's cellar in stained underpants taking a break from Pornhub and typing misogynistic or racist comments on websites.

Point whizzes over my head

What is Tricia?

Trash weekday morning TV in the 90s

He needs to think of some modern day cultural references tbh. Even Jeremy Kyle would have made more sense and that went off air years ago.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 04/11/2023 18:10

Mine is actually the heroic type, though it took me years to notice that when I had a cold or flu, I'd sleep on one of the big Habitat sofas downstairs, and if he was ill I'd sleep on one of the big Habitat sofas downstairs...

Katemax82 · 05/11/2023 00:40

My husband does silly ghost noises or gross coughing which does my head right in

Rifalo · 05/11/2023 00:59

Mine tends to repeatedly loudly clear his throat and then look at me to see if I've noticed he's poorly.....

Boymumma1 · 07/11/2023 09:25

My OH was curled up on the sofa in a blanket sighing at the weekend as he was ‘so unwell’, funny that we all seemed to have the same cold but me & kids cracked on with life as normal 😂😅

RedbrickOrNoBrick · 07/11/2023 09:33

The pistol shot sneeze. Can be heard two streets away

Catsmere · 07/11/2023 10:01

My last boss had the 1812 Overture cannon of sneezes. We worked in a tiny room where everything reverberated, and every time I heard him draw breath to sneeze (he had hay fever, so this was often) I dropped whatever I was doing to stick my fingers in my ears!

Essenceofpetunia · 07/11/2023 12:38

Ah, now despite being a woman, I am guilty of very loud and robust sneezes- I’m afraid I don’t seem to be able to sneeze quietly. (I don’t have a DGofD though, nor do I sigh or shuffle about if I have a cold.)

frenchfries111 · 07/11/2023 13:02

I’m lucky that DH used to try and talk about ‘having the sniffles’ all the time which he inherited from his mother. Literally that if you needed to blow your nose it meant you must be dreadfully unwell and sit about talking about it for hours.
Luckily a doctor friend explained it wasn’t a thing and put a stop to it.

I have loud sneezes too - but they couldn't compare with my boss's! 😆
