Why? Please please stop. Thank you.

OP posts:

Irritating.
Especially when the OP is a bloody essay.
Its getting to the point where I tend to assume that these super long OP's are AI generated tosh.

What, you mean like this?

Personally I find it more irritating that people think they make the rules that everyone else must abide by.

How is asking and saying "please" making rules for other people?

Yes it is definitely worse if it's a massive (first) post! And as the OP said, quoting it when it's the first post after the OP is just bonkers! 😜

You must lead a very boring life if it’s such an issue for you. Just scroll past if you don’t like it …. Simple

Quoting very long posts makes scrolling extremely tedious.

I like the selective quoting, as suggested by Passepartoute; copying and pasting in bold the specific bit one is referencing from either the OP's or a PP's posts. Feels more precise.

It annoys me too, especially if it's a really long post. Even more so when posters continue to repost the entire post.
There was a thread recently where a poster replied to a post with a post that took up half of the page and several others quoted the entire post, one of the pages was nothing but that pissing post being quoted!
Why not just use the @ followed by the posters name, rather than quoting the entire post.

On the webpage (even from my phone) the quote of a quote is collapsed, so it doesn't take that much space. If the app doesn't do it, ditch the app.

What is the value of tagging people? It doesn't show the context, it doesn't link to the post, no-one knows what you are replying to. Totally useless.
