Astounded by mullets?

I'm on holiday at a very British all inclusive abroad type holiday destination. It's all new to me, I've never had this type of holiday before. I'm astounded by the huge average BMI and lack of clothing of the majority of guests. The entitled poor manners is shameful. One man I was behind in the queue to the bar was aggressive with staff over their lack of understanding of his instruction of "no ice" but the issue was he was too drunk to understand there were 2 bar staff and he thought there was only one. I'm getting used to all of this poor behaviour but what has surprised me the most is the 3 generation family who all have matching mullet hair styles. That's male and female. I've never seen anything like it in real life in the 2000s. AIBU to find this all very unusual?

The ‘modern mullet’ is a thing…

80skid · 01/11/2023 21:34

It was like a 90s comedy sketch. I was transfixed!

omg WHY

You've started a thread just to slag people off. Go and enjoy your holiday instead of looking down your nose at other people

MadamVastra · 01/11/2023 21:45

Bore off!

I don’t know what I did to edit there but I said perms and mullets are very in and some people never leave the AI resorts and it shows, one man got kicked out of turkey for his constant abusive drunken behaviour whilst we were there

RoseBucket · 01/11/2023 21:46

Where are you?

Thighdentitycrisis · 01/11/2023 21:51

Mullets are in

ghostyslovesheets · 01/11/2023 21:52

My daughter has a wolf cut - it's like a shagg/mullet cross - it really suits her and she's beautiful - it's fashion.

Nokoolaidherethanks · 01/11/2023 21:53

I couldn't believe it when I saw my friend's teenage son sporting one but yes, mullets are back in fashion!! 🥴🤯

MissyB1 · 01/11/2023 21:53

Did they travel in shell suits? Do they keep saying “calm down calm down” ? Do they have scouse accents?

Toottooot · 01/11/2023 21:53

Yaaayyy well done you being so superior to the average Brit on holiday - bet yer nae really.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 01/11/2023 21:55

Okay Hyacinth.

Fionaville · 01/11/2023 21:56

Mullets are in. Looking down on people and judging them is out.

Snobbery doesn't really work well, when you are clearly in the same income bracket, to be in the same hotel.

Pussygaloregalapagos · 01/11/2023 21:57

Yeah the mullet reborn! They love em.

brits abroad though….. we are embarrassing. It is true.

Holidayhell22 · 01/11/2023 21:58

Mullets made a come back earlier this year. They are awful.
I too immediately thought of shell suits and big, chunky gold jewellery.

That comparison doesn't really work. It was perms, not mullets.

Okay Hyacinth.

Better to be a Hyacinth than a drunk Onslow! Imo of course.

I have noticed mullets are in too, loads near me. Young girls with great outfits they look really great on.

HamBone · 01/11/2023 22:04

Yes, DD (18) and DS (15) confirm that mullets are back in. Bell bottoms and flares have been back for a while so we’ve got a gorgeous mish-mash of ‘70’s and ‘80’s styles to endure until they go out again. 🤣

And the blokes were called Bah &Teh 🤣🤣

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 01/11/2023 22:05

Mullets are indeed apparently back in.

I went to secondary in the late 90s and there was a dad and son mullet combo. No idea about grandad. I was Shock but mullet boy was lovely and so was his dad.

If you're at a Brit focused resort you're going to be surrounded by people who seek British things. My generation and older definitely has an unhealthy relationship with alcohol (that is vehemently denied by most). I rarely ever drink these days, but I'm unusual. We are also an overweight nation. Where do you live that any of this is a surprise to you? And where have you gone on holiday?

Ap24 · 01/11/2023 22:14

I love a mullet, everyone I've ever met with one has been lovely and good fun.

Certain holidays attract certain people after different experiences. If you book benidorm then don't be surprised when you get stag parties and English bars.

AIstolemylunch · 01/11/2023 22:16

I was at an A level choices evening at my son's all boys school last night and virtually the whole of year 11 has a modern mullet now, including my 16y old who's had one for over a year. It's very much a thing, and not connected to any particular ecomonic demographic either, quite the opposite in fact, at least not in and around London.

Stomacharmeleon · 01/11/2023 23:14

My middle boy has got one! He's
