Am I the only person who thinks Victoria Beckham looked better in her early Spice Girl days...

...before all the weight loss, then she has since?

I don't get why she's so celebrated as a style icon for being skinny. She was lovely and had beautiful facial features in her early fame days

Ffs, we all looked much better in the early spice girl days.

God yeah, the glow of youth!

SweetBirdsong · 31/10/2023 00:05

She doesn't look much different. Confused She has barely aged. Her face looks almost the same! She is a bit slimmer now, but most people are slimmer, or less slim at different stages of their life. She looks lovely in both photos. Smile

isittoolatetosay · 30/10/2023 23:54

Gosh, no, quite the opposite. I would love to hear someone say my youthful body was perfect as it was and I didn't need to starve myself to suit other's expectations.

You do you, though,

Post your photos and let’s have at it, then.

I feel sorry for her with the Rebecca Loos being dragged up again, it can't be easy for her being reminded of it all.

They referred to it in the documentary. I don’t feel sorry for her, I feel sorry for Rebecca Loos who’s moved on from it all. There was no need to bring it up again.

Teddy65 · 31/10/2023 00:10

I think she always looks incredible and beautiful now and was also beautiful then.

Not everyone enjoys life through food. I do, though… 🐽

BurbleBumleBleep · 31/10/2023 00:12

Meh. She looks what she is.

Jerri and both Mels look fantastic too.

Rebecca Loos was no victim.

LifesADance · 31/10/2023 00:16

Another thread scrutinising a woman’s appearance. <sigh>

Did you ever stop to think that it’s the constant scrutinising that makes women feel like they’re not good enough and has a big part to play in ‘all the weight loss’. 🙄

Ramalangadingdong · 31/10/2023 00:18

isittoolatetosay · 30/10/2023 23:48

What would be the point of that?

I think she’s trying to say that we all looked better 20 years ago. And I agree with her.

BurbleBumleBleep · 31/10/2023 00:12

Jerri and both Mels look fantastic too.

They can all afford to look good.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 31/10/2023 00:20

I agree with you totally as she was not extremely underweight and she looked lovely. Now she has done her lips and looks weird and her nose also and looks like she has cheek implants. I was shocked at how thin the top of her arms were in the recent documentary. She does not look good and if she was not having regular botox, filler she would look so old. She was lovely in her earlier days. Nothing to do with anyone ageing as she has changed how she looked so much through extreme dieting and procedures.

Yeah, poor women who had her 10 mins of fame because she snagged a married footballer and is now back giving interviews. She's obviously moved on from it all 🙄

EconomyClassRockstar · 31/10/2023 00:22

Although I am going to go against the thread a little and say I think I look WAY better now in my late 40s than I did in my mid 20s. I was a knackered young mum back then with a terrible short hair cut (inspired by bloody Posh Spice) and no time or money to work out.

TomatoSandwiches · 31/10/2023 00:26

I think she looks great back then and now but I am confused about her eyes. They look so much bigger back then, how do they get much smaller, is it just natural ageing or some surgery?

AngeloMysterioso · 31/10/2023 00:26

Have you genuinely started a thread just to bash a woman for (in your opinion) not looking as good at nearly 50 as she did in her 20’s?? Really??

RoseBucket · 31/10/2023 00:36

Body shaming another woman, how delightful. My daughter is the same size and is subject to strangers, lecturers etc saying she needs to out weight on.

She is a size 6, but actually wears some of my size 10 clothes from 25 years ago. They are the same size.

Wolvesart · 30/10/2023 23:52

It worries me they they are presented as such successful types. 3 boys left private and expensive education and not a university degree in the offing. Her dress sense classy, her children not so much

An absurd post! Her children were never going to attend state schools.
University is not for every body. David and Victoria didn't go to university either and they are doing alright. Besides there is plenty of time in the world to attend university.

Branster · 31/10/2023 00:58

@TomatoSandwiches she wears a different, heavier , darker eye makeup nowadays and her eyebrows are a different shape and thicker (and possibly lower because we're 20 years down the line).
Possibly fillers or something to lift/plump cheeks as they appear quite high and detract from her eyes.
The Princess of Wales favours a heavy, dark eye makeup as well which is very noticeable.
Maybe because they get photographed a lot or maybe it's a fashion?

I think Victoria Beckham looks absolutely fine both now and in her Spice Girls era photos.
That glow and natural plumpness of face never lasts beyond 30 years of age at the most.
4 kids and 20 odd years later, anyone would look different and she chose to maintain a lower constant weight but she always looks toned which is not a bad thing.
She is probably very disciplined and committed.

Bobbotgegrinch · 31/10/2023 01:00

Why do women do this to each other?

I never see people on male dominated forums go "Fucking hell, Brad Pitt looks a bit rough these days, why doesn't he look like he did 30 years ago?"

I do see them say it about women, what can I say, my sex are shits. But given that misogyny is so rife, why do women feel the need to stick the boot into each others appearances too?

IMarchToADifferentDrummer · 31/10/2023 01:02

Even if she gorged like a hungry piggy she could still be compared to a stick insect! She leads a busy life so probably doesn't have time to put on weight.
This may, or may not, change in the future but, meanwhile, she seems to be healthy enough and happy with her family and she certainly isn't harming anyone!

justanothermanicmonday1 · 31/10/2023 01:07

Are we still doing this?

She's a grown woman who has aged beautifully, has grown children and a business.

Of course she looks different.

It worries me that some people's only measure of success is whether or not a person has been to university. Good on them for realising that there are more important things in life.

Topsyturvy78 · 31/10/2023 01:16

She's far too thin on the second pic not healthy.

TomatoSandwiches · 31/10/2023 01:17

@Branster that makes a lot of sense tbh, I'm useless with the magic that can be done with make up but I'm sure she knows every trick.
I've got to use up some of my Sisley eye pencils before I'll try her make up range but I've heard good things.

PyongyangKipperbang · 31/10/2023 01:47

I think the OP's point is that she became this "style icon" because she worked to meet the expectations of the fame industry instead of revelling in the beauty she already had.

Just look on Style and Beauty. Women posting that they wont wear skinny jeans if they are not considered fashionable anymore, rather than just wearing what they know looks good on them and what they like. They are more concerned with what other people think of them than anything else.

VB and all the other celebs are doing exactly the same, but to a greater degree and under greater scrutiny.

Most of the A listers do all look the bloody same, and its a shame! They muck about with their bodies and faces to the point where half the time they barely resemble their original selves and its heartbreaking that they feel that they have to do that. And no before someone says, I dont think that they are choosing to do it because they prefer it, I am sure that they are doing it because fame values youth and beauty, preferably skinny youth and beauty.
