Am I the only person who thinks Victoria Beckham looked better in her early Spice Girl days...

...before all the weight loss, then she has since?

I don't get why she's so celebrated as a style icon for being skinny. She was lovely and had beautiful facial features in her early fame days

If VB was trying to lead a life away from the public eye, making money from something that is nothing to do with image & looks I'd have sympathy for those calling to leave her alone and not comment, however, she makes a living from courting this stuff - she needs to take the rough with the smooth.

I think it gets harder for ultra thin to look youthful the other you get. Very few (Vera Wang?) manage it, most look better with an extra bit of fat to plump out sagging and wrinkles.

I personally preferred her original top lip - the current one is becoming ever more Bart Simpson.

Falzarega · 31/10/2023 08:36

Weird thing is, I looked way better twenty years ago than I do now. 🤷‍♀️

She's far too thin on the second pic not healthy.

Far too thin for what?

Peverellshire · 31/10/2023 08:44

Does DB like aristo ‘posh’ woman? The rail thin & tall, Mary C, etc? Model types. Long tousled hair, conservative? RP voice? Cultured. No obvious tattoos. Has VB morphed towards his preferred ‘type’ to some extent?

Mirabai · 31/10/2023 08:50

TorroFerney · 31/10/2023 08:39

Far too thin for what?

Too thin to look healthy.

DarkDarkDark · 31/10/2023 08:52

Why do women feel the need to judge each other like this?

happyl · 31/10/2023 08:53

too thin for what? Well, in my daughters case, too thin to have any energy, too thin to have periods, too thin to think straight (very low body weight plays havoc with your brain)

PeggyPoggleshaw · 31/10/2023 08:54

cookiechipchop · 31/10/2023 07:47

I think she is a beautiful woman either way, truly stunning

Really? She's full of plastic!

Gloriously · 31/10/2023 08:54

@Peverellshire who is Mary C?

DyslexicPoster · 31/10/2023 08:55

But she was younger then? Also it's her choice to be skinny. She seen to be a very consistent weight so in that respect its probably healthy for her.

My son is extremely thin. That's just him. He'd probably look better a better a bit more buff but it's not who he is. He's himself, not a better version of himself. We could all better versions of ourself but the lucky few are happy as they are. She no unattractive or bland looking woman. I'm sure she could walk into anywhere and turn everyone's head even in a sack.

It worries me they they are presented as such successful types. 3 boys left private and expensive education and not a university degree in the offing. Her dress sense classy, her children not so much

So you have to have a university degree to be classy?

I feel sorry for her with the Rebecca Loos being dragged up again, it can't be easy for her being reminded of it all.

As the Beckham's raked it up by doing a documentary they can't be upset that Rebecca Loos has reappeared, they brought it on themselves.

3WildOnes · 31/10/2023 08:57

I think she looks great in both pictures.

OrigamiOwl · 31/10/2023 08:58

Women looks better at 20 then 40... What a shocker!

Yalta · 31/10/2023 08:58

9outof10cats

I will go against the grain of this thread and say I think VB is too skinny - she looks emaciated and older than her years

If VB looks older than her years at nearly 50 what do you think women of that age should look like? I would love to see pictures of all these women who look younger than VB at her age.

There is too much pressure on people today to be skinny - people like VB add to this pressure

If anything being fat is encouraged. Being morbidly obese is celebrated.
Greed which leads to heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes and all the aches and pains that happen as you age and joints are worn out and life limited is apparently great.

All those on here saying 'she looks great' need a reality check - you are part of the problem

Happy to be part of the problem if it saves someone’s life.

Being healthy is being slightly underweight. Being healthy is leaving a meal when you are not quite full.

Most people nowadays would help themselves enormously if they restricted there food intake now and then and left the dining table slightly hungry instead of over eating

Peverellshire · 31/10/2023 09:03

Lady Mary Charteris, @Gloriously , same circles. She’s cultivated a classy image @ClaudiaWankleman @Wolvesart & she’s done it very well. Possibly as it was important re: new career. I think she’s clearly very strong & disciplined & admirable. I like her ‘off duty’ look especially, jeans, white shirt.

SpareHeirOverThere · 31/10/2023 09:03

A thread comparing a woman's appearance in her late 40's to her appearance in her early 20's. And then going on at length about her weight.

Internalised misogyny is alive and well.

Fannyannie · 31/10/2023 09:03

We all look fresher when we were younger of course.

Victoria you look fabulous.

Mirabai · 31/10/2023 09:06

Being healthy is being slightly underweight. Being healthy is leaving a meal when you are not quite full.

Hmm… sounds more like an eating disorder to me.

Mirabai · 31/10/2023 09:11

If OP had titled the thread “Am I the only person who thinks VB looked better with more weight on her” the response would have been different.

There would have been some posters who wanted to make it about age, but more posters would have got the point.

Imo VB looks great now, she doesn’t look that different or even much older than 20 years ago - she does look better with more weight on her though.

Far from being misogynist - fat is a feminist matter. The question is why so many women still feel pressure to be really thin.

DoratheFlora · 31/10/2023 09:11

I don't think about her much. She's not the type of person I would aspire to be. She's looked miserable for years!

ClearConfusion · 31/10/2023 09:12

Well, I’m sure most women looked better at 20, than at nearly 50 after four children. Does it actually matter to anyone but herself, what she looks like?

youboozeyoulose · 31/10/2023 09:12

Being healthy is being slightly underweight? Well there's the stupidest comment I've heard in a while.

Canisaysomething · 31/10/2023 09:13

Everyone who also looked better when they were younger raise your hands 🙋🏻‍♀️

Tatumm · 31/10/2023 09:13

Why can’t we concentrate on what she brings to the world rather than her looks? Depressing thread.
