Just opened the M&S app and saw the little 1 beside Sparks.

Oh goodie. Will it be free chocolate or percy pigs? Or even 20% off women's clothes?

Nope. It was:

Drum roll.

A free paper bag!!!! Be still my beating heart, I can't contain my excitement.

So, aibu in thinking I have just received the worst ever freebie or can you beat that?

Shameless bumping because I want to see what everyone got. It’s a bit like the advent calendar threads.

I got the choice of a wooden spoon or a tea towel from Ocado earlier and I was bloody delighted at the prospect of either 😂 MUCH better than a paper bag!

The wooden spoon is actually really good from Ocado, although my 3 year old nicked it for baking so i've been relegated to the one that strangely has 10p written on it . I've had that and the tote bag.

GunboatDiplomacy · 31/10/2023 13:56

I now want to do an Ocado order.

Janeyem · 31/10/2023 18:04

I got free apples - very sad but at least it’s not a paper bag. I want Percy’s! 😭

Chubbymummyof2 · 31/10/2023 18:20

Thank you for this thread, just checked and I have a loaf of bread!

I did just win a £10 voucher with sparks.

Jendubai · 31/10/2023 18:30

I got my shopping for free… £25.00 if I would have known I would have done the months shop!!! Lol.. Oh & I got a bar of Swiss chocolate on Saturday!!! Can’t complain. 😁

Openthefloodgates · 31/10/2023 18:49

I had it too

ArielManto43 · 31/10/2023 18:55

My last free gift was a Swiss chocolate Mountain bar, which they never had in stock. So I couldn't claim it. (I think that's worse than getting nothing, which is what I got this time).

TenderDandelions · 31/10/2023 19:01

I have nothing for free! Well, that's a lie, I get a free hot drink. I just have to buy the first 6. I don't go in to an M&S that has a coffee shop, so that's useful.

Otherwise I have 10% of fresh meat (OK, that's pretty good), 50p off when I spent £3 on juice (not sure I've ever bought M&S juice), £1.50 off if I spend £15 on wine (yeah, this one's definitely a bit of me), 10% off cakes (OK, this to) and 10% of ready meals.

So what we can take from this is that I'm a lazy cook that likes wine and cake!

I also rarely actually go in to the shop. I get my shopping from Ocado, but the Sparks deals aren't compatible unfortunately.

S4uk · 31/10/2023 19:15

15% off plants and flowers.
I own a plant nursery…

I once got 50p off a pack of broccoli 🥦 I managed to resist going all the way to M&S to take advantage of that

OchonAgusOchonOh · 31/10/2023 19:21

AIBU for drip feeding that I also have €1 off a medium pumpkin (medium mind, don't go getting notions of a large one) and 20% off a barmbrack (I make my own)?

If I could find another 9 people to get the pumpkins, we could copy the midwives at Royal Oldham Hospital and make dilation pumpkins https://x.com/mokearlyyears/status/1718935689557909879?s=46&t=-NBCZ97x4Vsi5HrGQK0MdQ

I got a free pastry too!! I can't wait for the 12 days of Christmas one!! I loved the threads here last year!!

Pliudev · 31/10/2023 19:23

I hope you noticed there are terms and conditions. Wouldn't want you to be disappointed OP.
I hate those new bags. I used the plastic ones to collect compostable stuff and an assistant insisted they could still be used for that. Result? Three days gungy peelings and egg shells etc. on the kitchen floor.

wizzbitt · 31/10/2023 19:28

I haven’t rtfc yet but it might be worth waiting until the Christmas countdown. Last year I got a bottle of festive gin that had a snow globe effect. It didn’t taste bad either. Also prosecco was on offer. There were some good deals. Shame you have to wait until the end of the year to get it. I have recently missed out on a free hot drink that I also cba to claim 🤷🏿‍♀️

Yes. The "only use once" was pointed out to me. As was the fact they are lethal weapons and if it doesn't kill me I may be able to sue for damages unless the small print says I can't.

The best thing I got was a light up tea lantern which ds promptly appropriated and brought back to his student flat.

That's definitely the worst. Although there are usually a list of things it applies to. I had the same with the Swiss chocolate but one of the other less desirable options was in stock so at least I got a chocolate fix.

I have Percy Pigs. I have never bought Percy Pigs I don't like them. I buy my lunch in there twice a week, a sandwich and a muffin. One of those would be lovely.

I keep getting that, and not collecting it was I’m allergic to gluten. I think it’s my best free gift offer so far 😂

OchonAgusOchonOh · 31/10/2023 20:19

I got the bread a couple of times too. I make my own so didn't bother collecting it.

15% off plants and flowers.

Just checked and I’ve got that one now.

When I buy flowers I like to support my lovely local flower shop.
