Or should tv stop giving Rebecca Loos airtime?

SwiftieGrainger · 30/10/2023 18:36

Disgusted that Rebecca Loos has been invited on Good Morning Britain to comment ( not the first time ) on the Beckham documentary. The Beckham documentary is 1% about the time she popped up in his narrative and its not authentic to make a show like that without including details of something like the affair with Rebecca that made so many headlines at the time. That said both Victoria and David addressed it respectfully, never named her and didn't really say anything remarkable or ground breaking at the time. For her to now be given TV time about how much it annoys her that it was spoken about is despicable. I'd imagine it's worse for his wife to revisit than her, she just seems so very nasty and bitter. Aibu or should this sort of weird media circus not be on television?

Yabu - I really respect how much she's banging on about it instead of reflecting on the hurt she played a part in and staying quiet.
Yanbu - why is this on our television and why are we paying someone with their morals in the gutter to say their bit?

No you're misunderstanding, the issue isn't defending oneself it's building a career off of it, swooning over it and reminiscing on the way the romance began whilst speaking about him like it was the start of a live story and casually mentioning his wife, then all of the intimate details. I'm sorry but Victoria and any wife does not deserve that. I'm not sure why you think that's okay?

You do realise your double standards here, right?
You state their documentary had to have the affair had to include the affair so they are profiting off it but she can’t do the same?

sunglassesonthetable · 31/10/2023 10:27

DB is totally profiting from his Doc. It's building his career.

Her career is a yoga teacher now isn't it?

Gummybear23 · 31/10/2023 10:46

VB should have divorced him.

Trust is lost.

Dont know why she is still in the marriage with the man who cheated.

And not once either.

Dear me OP this is a wind up isn't it? PR stunt?

Can I re write this for you.

Yabu - I really respect how much she's banging on about it instead of reflecting on the hurt she played a part in and staying quiet and I wonder why DB didn't reflect on the hurt he caused instead of deflecting or even staying quiet?

You give alot of credit to DB for barely referencing . But when you control the narrative, as he does, that's called " "avoidance".

I loved the DB doc, very entertaining, and I like the Beckhams. But I can also call a spade a spade. It's no point trying to spin this.

CornishGem1975 · 31/10/2023 11:03

If he actually admitted what happened I would agree with you but he didn't, the program just glossed over it and made out they have a great marriage (which they may well do I have no idea!) but I don't blame RL for being pissed off with it being brought up again.

Agree with @Iloveshoes123. I actually really like the Beckhams but they skirted around the issue knowing they had to address it. Never came out and said it happened. She has every right to tell her side of the story.

PegasusReturns · 31/10/2023 13:30

She wasn't 17, way old enough to know how much that would break his wife to hear. She might have hated David but his wife didn't deserve that

no she wasn’t 17, but she had no press experience, was thrown into a media storm, sacked from her job and had no support, whilst he abused and called a whore and a slut.

good for her making the best of a bad situation.

She had no responsibility to VB, that was on DB.

honestly you sound like the sort of woman that takes her cheating husband back and stands in the street fawning over him whilst scowling at the OW who is just trying to move on from it all.

Media training wouldn't be needed if she hadn't indulged in an affair. Honestly just give up lol. The media storm she created by selling her story for 500k. As for your wild assumption about me you couldn't be more wrong lol I did indeed leave years ago when ex cheated and I am now 17 holidays in with the OW who is bloody lovely and one of my best friends. Our situation was very different though as she truly believed a different narrative about ex. Neither of us ever talk about it, she is a decent person. She also sincerely apologised and we really understood each other at the time

Probably more like media training wouldn't be needed if the affair hadn't been with a superstar footballer, but so what?

It was still a David and Goliath situation in terms of media and support.

Yes, I’m here and happy to talk about it. That wasn’t my point either. Oh well, never mind, it’s not a big deal.

Anyway, twenty years ago two people had an affair. One a married and very rich, famous and powerful man. One an unmarried female employee who spoke to the press about it.

The rich and famous man brings it up again 20 years later in a documentary that they allegedly were paid a huge amount of money for on top of their existing fortune. The woman is deluged by the press and social media again in her normal life. She responds and makes likely a small percentage compared to him. I can’t get upset about that.

You come across as so sarcastic and rude hahahaha. It's not that deep, it's interesting to me go talk about but I don't want you getting worked up about it. I really don't like Rebecca's actions and nothing anyone says on here will change my mind as I don't expect to change yours. On every other forum/post other than mumsnet most people share the same view as me. Its okay to believe different things. I appreciate what you have said but I still stand by the fact that she presents as cruel to me.

Ohdearanotheryear · 31/10/2023 14:59

You say more people in real life share your view. Do people really care that much?

There must be a reason why you are so obsessed with RL. What is it @SwiftieGrainger ?

Whats with all the lol lol and hahaha ha from you - there are a number of MN comments that could be made regarding those. I won't bother though. Perhaps try to forgive RL for having sex with your hero David or maybe hope he keeps it in his pants in future to save you the heartache? Poor bewildered manchild that he is.

sunglassesonthetable · 31/10/2023 15:23

Well I doubt that really.

But are you on all of them checking?🤔

Seriously @SwiftieGrainger you're coming across a bit obsessed.

Which is fine . Each to their own. But not a balanced viewpoint tbh.

cocolocopocos · 31/10/2023 15:31

Rebecca Loos seems more intelligent, interesting, and articulate than either of the Beckhams - I'd certainly rather listen to her talk than either of them.

ArcaneWireless · 31/10/2023 15:41

Well that just sums it up…

Or should tv stop giving Rebecca Loos airtime?
CobwebsAndCauldrons · 31/10/2023 15:42

Media companies don't give anyone airtime - they pay them for content they feel will increase viewership. Anyone looking to media companies to the be moral judge and only allocate airtime based on deservability, is on a hiding to nothing.

CobwebsAndCauldrons · 31/10/2023 15:43

...plus, if this specifc affair wasn't the biggest example of power inbalance between an employer and employee, I don't know what is.
