To think this card is inappropriate?

Saw this in a supermarket the other day. I find it very distasteful and almost upsetting. Surely if we're condemning sexual violence, we're condemning all sexual violence? Rape jokes are not acceptable, so why is a card joking about serious sexual assault OK?

Nah mate, I get through life just fine. I do have standards of what I find acceptable to joke about and what not. Sexual assault falls squarely into the latter category.

I totally respect your right to be offended, and the OP's. I'm not offended and I didn't read it as sexual assault and I suspect neither did the in house councel at Sainsbury's. But, as I have said in a PPs, it takes all sorts. We are all informed by, shaped by and entitled to be upset by what ever we like. For me, this is a lot of hot smoke over nothing. None the less, I hope you have a lovely weekend and I'm sure we all have more to agree on than not.

Really.looking far too deeply and dare I say woke into this. It's just a joke, I would have read it, picked another one up, not given it a second thought. There are much more sinister and worrying things going on in the real world to be bothered about a card you don't want to buy. No, it doesn't signify male rape, it's about an angry wife thinking about shoving it up his arse, heard the expression ill shove a broom up my arse while I'm doing everything else? Probably not.

Too often bad things are brushed off as a "joke" - bullying, verbal abuse, so posts like "it's just a cartoon/card" caught my attention.

From my point of view, a violent crime is a good hint that extra caution is needed about a "joke". And, in my opinion, the topic of penetration without consent is crossing the line. Too serious, too prevalent, too low rate of sentencing the offenders.
In comparison, I think murder is often less troublesome in jokes, thought I don't remember a (murder) joke that would make sense on a card.
