They look amazing on the young, slender, highly toned women they're intended for. A bit startling to the unaccustomed eye, but more "Wow!" than "Urgh!"

On everybody else, they look ... revealing, not in a good way 😂

I really don't agree. This isn't a question of tone. It is a question of the disgusting scrunch effect on the bottom crack, which just looks dirty. I have a 'toned' smallish bottom and am a size 8. I would not be seen dead in these.

EtiennePalmiere · 25/10/2023 22:15

This thread comes up a lot on MN, everyone seems to be in agreement. Today I saw a woman whose skirt was so short you could actually see "everything" in the front (wearing skin colored tights, thank god).

Restingbitch2 · 25/10/2023 22:16

I’m sure it’s been said but this thread is arguably gold for someone with an “arsecrack leggings” fetish… 🙈

MovingAround90 · 25/10/2023 22:17

The first time I saw someone wear a flesh coloured version of these was in a restaurant, and as she was walking out I noticed what was either sweat or discharge leaking through to create a wet patch all up her fanny.

Probably not her best look.

CheshireDing · 25/10/2023 22:17

Well today I have learnt something new ! I have seen these leggings on the school run and often wondered - does the wearer have a good bum, are they wearing some kind of tummy /butt control underwear, how does their bum look like that when they have really big thighs, is it an optical illusion with the pattern/fabric etc? These are just some of the thoughts I have had when often seeing these. Now I know there is a name for them ! And it’s mostly to do with padding and ruching by the looks of it !

also why do people wear them in flesh colours (horrendous) with white tennis socks pulled up over the top ?

wishes I had an arse that looked like that 🤔

I don’t think anyone looks good in any leggings really.

A lot of the SAHM/WFM mums wear them in our (apparently) top 10 richest towns in the UK. Average dress size (apparently) is a 10. They look good in them - and I do too

Those up your bum leggings aren't great though, I've noticed a few stains.

justasking111 · 25/10/2023 22:18

I bought a pair of thongs once. I was in pain within a couple of hours. Honestly felt so sore. I went to the loos whipped them off and stuffed them in my handbag. I'd get thrush wearing these leggings

4timesthefun · 25/10/2023 22:20

On an individual level, I don’t care what women wear. On a societal level, I hate the idea that women’s clothing has morphed to needing to accentuate and draw attention to the anus, like some kind of baboon mating call. There doesn’t seem any such need for men to draw attention to their anus and rounded butt cheeks. We might kid ourselves that wearing what we want is empowering, and our arse exercises more effectively on display, but I hate that so many young women are essentially willing to buy into their own objectification by big corporates.

Restingbitch2 · 25/10/2023 22:20

This thread is making me chuckle.

I take it back about banning PJs at breakfast (see slobdom thread) in hotels. What if they all wear these instead, in protest? 😱

TravellingSpoon · 25/10/2023 21:53

Not in my gym, these monstrosities are definitely in the minority. They are usually worn by those who use the stairmaster.

Not in mine either.

whynotwhatknot · 25/10/2023 22:25

i dont get any of it-why would you want to show that i hate nude leggings aswell with a thng

whatisheupto · 25/10/2023 22:25

Baboons spring to mind. David Attenborough needs to do his next documentary in Pure Gym.

Spendonsend · 25/10/2023 20:38

I think they look nice.

Said no one ever

Faircastle · 25/10/2023 22:26

I think it's the ruched effect that makes them look so... anatomical.

CesareBorgia · 25/10/2023 22:28

It's true that these leggings will show every lump and wobble, but from a revealing standpoint, they are no more revealing than swimwear.

Dunno about you but I don't do my weekly shop in my bikini

Don't normally stick up for men, but tbh, I can't think of many that would agree to wear something so ridiculous, naked and uncomfortable looking.

Hmm. Plenty of men's cycling gear comes in translucent white and/or with high-contrast bum padding. Let the guys have their moment, too 😂

Robotalkingrubbish · 25/10/2023 22:31

I honestly thought a woman bending forward to put her child in the car seat, was naked from the waist down. But no, it was skin coloured scrunch bum leggings. WTAF?

shockwaze · 25/10/2023 22:07

Sometimes a bit of body shaming is needed

Just wow!

Mumsnet really has got nasty.

I’ll assume it’s jealousy and that you couldn’t wear something so skin tight.

theduchessofspork · 25/10/2023 22:32

Nowherenew · 25/10/2023 21:25

As with most things it depends on who’s wearing them.

Sometimes they look good, sometimes they don’t.

It doesn’t

It’s just degrees of ridiculous

No one looks good when it appears their clothing is being sucked up their arsehole

smooththecat · 25/10/2023 22:33

More than once I’ve done a brief double take, fuck, that woman forgot to put her trousers on! There was one in particular leaning into a car. Idk, I can’t get too worked up about it, the arse hanging out of the bottom of shorts look can be a bit confronting/bit more than I was expecting to see. Tbh though, a lot of shirtless men are really pushing it and most don’t have the bod, and being fully half undressed is a lot more flesh to have to take in and compute. The wobbling semi-naked man on an e-scooter is a new phenomenon that I never saw coming.

Faircastle · 25/10/2023 22:26

Yeah they look like you can see your actual arsehole.

inamarina · 25/10/2023 22:33

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 25/10/2023 20:37

I find them a bit obscene but weirdly fascinating. I marvel at the women who want to display their arse crack so prominently.

That’s how I feel about them too!

CesareBorgia · 25/10/2023 22:34

shockwaze · 25/10/2023 22:29

You're missing my point - that, whether you would personally wear a bikini or not, most people don't think anything of seeing them worn inn public places - beach, swimming pool, even sunbathing in a park, for example.

What is it about the supermarket, as opposed to any of the above public places, that induces your disgust?

Either we say women (and men) should cover up in all places that are used by the general public, or we don't. There is no logic to saying beach = fine, Sainsburys = unacceptable.

Consideringachange2023 · 25/10/2023 22:35

The super obvious scrunch leggings are a bit much for me but pulling your leggings up in the thigh and bum area is infinitely more flattering than a saggy mono-bum where you’ve just got a flat square arse.

Just pull your leggings up ever so slightly for a bit of definition. Makes the bum look so much better, no wedgies needed!
