At least once a month! It's gone from jokingly commenting we can't afford the cover to full blown, seriously please don't go on mat leave we wouldn't survive! Very awkward, I can feel myself respond more and more pettily as the audacity of it is kicking in!

Thank you so much for your advice, I’ve only been in business for 30 years I’m so glad you were around to give me that information.

I am bouncing on your message and was adding to it, because people seem to imply that you discriminate: I meant to say regardless of whoever you employ, the employer has to do this and if they go bankrupt well it’s possible they didn’t plan that well.l (which is what you said happened to your acquaintance isn’t it?)

But it’s good to see someone so open minded with a chip on the shoulder who needs to remind us every post that they were in business for 30 years, apparently a huge achievement to at least break even for 30 years for some people.

I can employ whomever I think will enhance my business, what are you failing to understand?

I'm not failing to understand anything. You have basically admitted that your hiring policy is to discriminate against women of childbearing age because apparently despite being in business for 30 years your profits are so small that you can't even afford statutory maternity pay.

Not once have I talked about my profits. I did say a friend of mine lost her tiny little business because both her girls went on maternity leave at the same time ( dog grooming). I have no problems thank you very much probably because I’m very careful who I hire. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder. I can’t see why my comment from a business owners ( which you wouldn’t know anything about) prospective. I wasn’t rude or anything but you’ve felt the need to demonise me. It’s because of people like you I’m very careful who I hire. But I mustn’t be doing too bad as I have over 110 staff, most have been with me over 10 years. Does that upset you even more? I really feel that maybe you should talk to someone. Are your benefits not enough? Bye bye you are boring me now.

Awwwe bless you, do you follow me? My friend had a tiny dog grooming business with three of them, two of them went on maternity and she had to close her little shop. I’m glad you felt the need to belittle her. But on the up side I do have a fabulous business that I’m very proud of, I don’t even have to be there. I know this will incense you do maybe it’s best you block me 😜

Because of people like me?

You mean women of childbearing age who inconvenience business owners by getting pregnant?

Anyone who "loses their business" due to pregnant staff wasn't running a viable business in the first place. Statutory maternity pay is peanuts.

Oh dear what sort of a place do you work for. My girls get full pay for 6 months then it’s up to them.

SecondUsername4me · 29/10/2023 17:35

Can we stop calling women in the workplace girls, its ridiculous.

Pull the other one.

Someone who is "careful about who they hire", meaning careful about not hiring women of childbearing age, doesn't have staff going off on maternity leave and certainly wouldn't be giving them 6 months' full pay if they did.

monsteramunch · 29/10/2023 21:41

@threatmatrix

You have a successful business with over 110 employees and insist on calling the adult women who work for you, presumably including many valued and talented staff, your 'girls'?

You are so fascinated by me aren’t you. To be quite honest I don’t give to fucks what you think as I’m off to Bermuda business class on the 13th so I know I’m doing well. Now off you trot and find someone else to pick on. The opinions of people who haven’t and never will own a business is totally irrelevant to me.

Yes, telling strangers on the internet you're off to Bermuda business class is a sure sign that you don't care what anybody thinks and definitely not a sign that you live in a fantasy land.

I'm out.

Make a jokey comment about how they'll afford the lawsuit. Hopefully that'll nip it in the bud.

Haha!

Seriously, do you have any idea how cringeworthy that is?

Literally, nobody cares where you sit on the plane.

If you can afford to fly business class you can afford not to discriminate against women in your employment practices.

I'm cringeing with secondhand embarrassment for you.

It's literally a toss up between you and the woman who claimed on another thread that she can go to Sainsbury's in her pyjamas because she drives a BMW and "money speaks".

I’m living in a fantasy world ( that’s what you said) I proved I’m not. You really are something else. I’m not at all embarrassed, why should someone be embarrassed about doing well and proving I’m not a liar. You prompted me to prove I’m not and now I’m wrong again. Bless you, did you think I’d just sit back and let you vilify me?
silly woman.

I don’t even remember what this was about 😂

but don’t worry that shows exactly the kind of person you are: maybe can add this achievement to “I managed to not go bankrupt for 30 years”, I enjoy thinking that I make people rage on internet forums … 🤡

@BlueInf I think you have managed to win the internet when @threatmatrix has to resort to accusing you of being a fat old spinster to win their argument.
By the way I’d rather spend some time chatting with you than them regardless of your BMI and marital status as they are clearly a dick.

monsteramunch · 19/11/2023 10:38

@threatmatrix

For someone as happy and successful as you say you are, you aren't half angry and aggressive! Chill out and enjoy yourself rather than getting so cross with strangers, maybe? Life will be a lot nicer 😊

MakingLemonadealways · 19/11/2023 13:33

Thanks everyone for your advice!!! Interesting to hear the different view points… Let the family planning begin! LOL
