My husband was a police officer, he came home off duty at 7 am and fell into bed and was quickly asleep. I got up to go to work getting dressed in the dark so as not to disturb him. I had identical style shoes in navy and black and guess what, I went to work with a blue shoe and a black shoe. Thirty five years later I still seem to be able to manage so if it was the start of some terrible decline it is a really slow one. Even if she really did wear odd shoes I don't think it means much but maybe I'm too invested in the situation.

This is a really nasty thread, tearing apart a woman who has worked hard for many unheard communities for decades. She doesn't support the genocide of the Palestinian people and believes in free speech. More than a hint of something here, as seen in the tabloid press reporting on her for years.

I don't really think it matters where a person's sympathies lie, they are allowed to protest without losing their job.

The train driver should not have been sharing his political views on a train. His job is driving a train, not giving his political opinion. He could have done that after work.

I agree @Namechangeagain2023 and I would also have agreed if he had led a “stand with Israel chant”. He is there to drive the train not air his views. I’m so over being bombarded with politicised views by shops and businesses.

I’ve been getting on tubes almost daily for 49 plus years and the only thing tube tannoy announcements are for is to give passengers information related to their tube journey or the wider tube network and that is it. They are to explain delays, tell people what is happening on the line they are on and to remind people to get off if applicable. Sometimes you get drivers telling people not to lean on the doors and not to run to catch tubes as they might slip and that vaping is not allowed.
that is it . Anything else is irrelevant and not appropriate. Drivers have no idea who is on their train and there could be hundreds of people using their train over the course of a tube line.

I want businesses to be good at what they do and get on with providing the goods/services to a high standard.

I don't want them pushing political views, latest lobby agendas, or some knee jerk reaction to complex world events.

I am pro Israel and the UK has chosen to expand its population with people from some countries which are very anti Jewish so I suppose we have reaped what we sowed. However I am also in favour of free speech so DA can tweet that if she likes. I don't agree with her analogy.

She is fading out of public life and her time is almost over, so I’m not too worried about Diane Abbott. She’s of that ill of the Left who never evolved from student politics of the 70s & 80s. No nuance, no intelligent opinion, just knew-jerk viva la revolucion stuff without a scooby about the complexity of the situation in which they pronounce.
