Using 'Daddy' in a sex context

JellyPopz · 20/10/2023 21:55

It's always made me uncomfortable, Daddy is what my kids call their father and not what I would ever call a lover.

Starting the 'This Morning Show' and ep 2 the PA comes in and tries to seduce her senior that she is in a relationship with using a baby voice and calling him Daddy.

I'm hoping the whole 'Yes Daddy', 'Give it to me Daddy' nods to something else and isn't fuelling a very sick fantasy?!

Sidenote: pleased to say I have never had a man who requested this.

Can someone enlighten me? It's not like this show was filmed many years ago, it's base story is around Me Too!

This plus the prevalence of incest porn & stepchild porn & schoolchild porn makes me feel sick. I think a lot of people are defective.

You're referencing 'child abuse images' not 'porn'.

The words child and porn should not be used together.

Umanresources · 21/10/2023 02:46

I don’t mind hearing Babe, being used, but I’m not keen on hearing Baby. Paul Merton’s wife called him that on the campervan programme they did. I don’t enjoy HIGNFY the same way any more!

Mydogmybestfriend · 21/10/2023 03:01

That's why people changed it to Zaddy

EBearhug · 21/10/2023 03:39

I had a man who wanted me to be his sub. He asked if I'd call him Daddy - I absolutely refused. It would be too weird - it doesn't matter if it's not about incest, because for me it would still have that connotation, and I wouldn't feel turned on at all. Sir or Master I could do, but not Daddy. I also don't like adults being called Babe or Baby.

CurlewKate · 21/10/2023 03:46

There are times when I'm more than happy to kinkshame.

catrescuelady · 21/10/2023 04:01

An ex of mine once asked me to call him daddy. It was that day he became an ex!!! 30 year later and he's in prison. Paedophile. 🤮

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 21/10/2023 04:06

I call my father papa.

Daddy therefore doesn’t have the ring of “that’s my [actual] father” to me. But I still don’t like it!!

just imagine somebody calling you mummy…

I will however say that the usage of papi, mami (etc.) is a lot more fluid in Latin America.

Mrsmulhern · 21/10/2023 04:14

Yeah it’s weird as fuck. Coincidentally though I was talking to my friend about it recently and she says it sometimes/likes it.

I could NOT! She’s actually really close with her dad too so it must be separate we didn’t divulge further cus different strokes for different folks and all that. But it’s a huge NO from me and it definitely comes from porn.

I don’t think that person was referring to child abuse.

all of these are somewhat mainstream porn categories offered by many sex workers / porn actors that are 18+.
”incest porn” is a category that is about performers play acting incest. Same for school girl porn. The „school girl“ may very well be 20+.

it is definitely worth having a conversation about why these categories are so mainstream, societal impact etc.

but this is (luckily!) not the same as child sexual abuse.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 21/10/2023 05:38

I don't believe that the porn industry is that self regulating!

CurlewKate · 21/10/2023 07:09

@PumpkinsAndCoconuts "but this is (luckily!) not the same as child sexual abuse."

You sure of that, hmm?

sparklefresh · 21/10/2023 07:13

It's fucking minging.

CampsieGlamper · 21/10/2023 07:40

Whilst watching "pork"?

Squeal little piggy, squeal.

themothergoose · 21/10/2023 07:44

Why do you care if it's not something you would every do. There are millions of things people get turned on by that I wouldn't even dream of. Doesn't bother me at all.

Brightredglass · 21/10/2023 08:00

JellyPopz · 20/10/2023 22:01

What is that thing?
I'm presuming your saying it's different to paedophilia/incest?

By your thing I meant BDSM. A pp explained it well, it's use is to signify power and control. Different vibe to Sir. But I expect virtually no one to understand and that's fine Smile

What I mean are scenarios with (often well-known) adult porn stars captioned as step-daughter/step-sister/teacher etc.

AllyWindmill · 21/10/2023 08:43

I used to think it was weird too, until I started sleeping with an older man. He is definitely daddy Grin

And no, I'm not fantasising about sleeping with my father!

'Daddy' is an old timey American thing isn't it?
Like "My heart belongs to Daddy" the Cole Porter song. Or "Hey little girl is your daddy home..." (I'm on Fire) / Springsteen. Like Daddy used for lover.

I think it's yuk myself but - depending on context - I don't think it's any different to using "babe/baby", "come to momma", "big boy".

Similarly old-timey US references, but in West Side Story the teenaged Jets sometimes address each other as 'Daddy-o'.

Blanche Barrow (hung out with Bonnie and Clyde, married to Clyde's brother) also famously addressed her husband as 'Daddy' when they were out and about, so I don't think it's just used in the bedroom - PPs have made interesting points about it being more about authority than literal paternity.

I realise my two examples are from the 1950s and 1930s, mind...! 😂

KeratinCan · 21/10/2023 09:18

It is really gross. I cannot believe people do this. Of course there are incestuous connotations.

avocadotofu · 21/10/2023 09:22

Theimpossiblegirl · 20/10/2023 22:21

In America it's not the same as Daddy is not the usual affectionate term for a father figure.

In the UK it's gross.

I'm American and it's definitely common to call your father daddy. And to answer OPs question I think it's a total turn off to call someone daddy. It gives me the ick!

There are a few kinks that reveal an awful lot about a person.

Daddy/Mommy kinks
Nappy wearing kinks

All vile and steeped in paedophillic fantasy.

Considering it's mainly women calling their partners daddy are you suggesting that these women are paedophiles of some sort?

I'm involved in the kink world and it is categorically NOT used as a peadophile sort of thing 🤔

People who call their partner daddy are usually a sub, their daddy is usually the dom. It's about control, being the boss ect and having someone love you and Make you feel cared for

All sorts of fucked up in it's own way but its definetly not paedophile related

nutsnutspistachionuts · 21/10/2023 09:30

It's "a thing" everywhere but definitely more mainstream in the US. In the States it's not even seen as particularly bdsm.

Sorry if this is a bit pseud's corner but I think British society is traditionally more hierarchical so many of us would gravitate more towards a "yes sir" type thing ahead of "daddy"? Whereas USA society is less class-led but perhaps the nuclear family is more culturally dominant, like girls asking their dad's permission to go out etc. I've never seen my dad as any sort of authority figure whatsoever and that's borne out by dad portrayals in the British media - think the nice enough but ineffectual type dads in My Family or Waffle the Wonder-Dog or whatever, vs the archetypal fierce dad who ruled the roost in Clueless or all those American high school movies.

As someone who likes blues, older country, classic rock and folk songs: there seems to be a tradition in many American songs of male and female partners calling themselves and each other 'daddy' and 'mama'. Mississippi John Hurt sang 'Hurry down, sweet daddy, come blowin' your horn/ If you come too late, sweet mama will be gone.' Hank Snow's 'Moving On' includes the lines 'Your true loving daddy ain't coming back' and 'I got a pretty mama in Tennessee'. Lonnie Donegan and others sang 'Don't you rock me Daddy-o'. Pp have already mentioned Boney M and 'Daddy Cool'. There was a well-known Sixties rock band called The Mamas and Papas. Even the British band the Kinks had the song 'Sunny Afternoon' including the line 'I've got a big fat momma trying to break me' - in the context, clearly the character's girlfriend, not his mother. I assume that the usage stems from your partner being the actual or potential father or mother of your children, and does not imply an incestuous relationship.

Exactly. I like blues too but I couldn’t think of any specific lyrics.

MysweetAudrina · 21/10/2023 09:40

Assuming it's pulled pork you are referring to.
