Sorry, but I do! He just kept slowly driving through them. I'm heartily tired of the bully boy tactics of Just Stop Oil thinking they can rely on people not to keep driving at them. I'm so glad he called their bluff. Also glad it was Scotland. They are pretty hardy there and take nae shite!

I love the way the protestors seem genuinely outraged at being put at 'risk' even though they are choosing to sit in front of his bus....

Good work that man.
JSO are a bunch of clowns.

Fangisnotacoward · 19/10/2023 22:45

He hardly "rams" them does he?

They are choosing to sit in the road in front of a moving bus.

Time4TERF · 19/10/2023 22:47

He was silly, but I hope he doesn't lose his job.

vernatheraven · 19/10/2023 22:48

If they targeted the Houses of Parliament and inconvenienced our government they'd have more success maybe.

How does targeting the public make any difference except most people thinking they are dickheads.

Can't get past them stopping emergency services. Selfish arseholes the lot of them

Changingnameagain · 19/10/2023 17:32

YABU to advocate for anyone to drive at another human being. JSO aren't protesting the use of a coach- they're protesting the use of the Bibby Stockholm to house refugees.

Aren't they getting a bit mixed up? How is that going to stop Oil?

EssexMan55 · 19/10/2023 22:54

I hope he is. You can’t just go round attempting to run people over, there was no threat to his safety so there is no defence he could use if eg a protestor tripped and was crushed. He will get paid all the same if he had not tried to force his way through.

Time4TERF · 19/10/2023 23:06

This is why JSO get the criticism they do though. In this scenario they try to stop a working class man, who probably isn't being paid very much, from doing his job. That man will probably be fired now and may even get a criminal record. That man likely has children and grand children who rely upon his wage.

Do JSO think about that before they pull these stunts? No. Because they'll never have to do these kind of jobs themselves, will they?

Agree the you tube video I've seen of a mum and taxi driver verifying it that they're taking a baby to hospital and yet STILL they are blocking it is horrendous. Although last thread this was discussed on, a poster said it (the blockade) was justified as it was probably only a routine appointment...

shellyleppard · 19/10/2023 23:10

It was a protest against asylum seekers being housed on a barge.....in Dorset 😏

TheyreEatingThemInNelsonAndTheBluff · 19/10/2023 23:12

I don't understand why you even thought it was Scotland. The description of the video you linked says Dorset, and says it was about the Bibby Stockholm.

I’m not understanding the jso posts either. Confused
I saw the clip on the news earlier, it’s not JSO.

It is. They are identified and quotes saying they are just stop oil.

We the public.

He wasn't silly. He was lawfully going about his job. JSO are stupid.

crumblingschools · 20/10/2023 00:54

Why were JSO involved? Is it because the barge was previously used by oil workers?

SammyScrounge · 20/10/2023 01:13

Sayitaintso33 · 19/10/2023 17:16

I don't think the right to protest should include blocking the highway but I am uncomfortable with coaches being used as weapons.

He didn't assault anyone. He just made them
uncomfortable and made a lot of people's day - including mine.

SammyScrounge · 20/10/2023 01:21

Thebestwaytoscareatory · 19/10/2023 18:18

Did you feel that way when the Hong Kong protests, the occupy Wall Street protests, the Yellow Vest protests, the Indian farmers protests, and the Dakota Access Pipeline protests all blocked roads?

Or is it just protests about things you don't like / that might inconvenience you that get your hump up?

In the early days of protest ambulances couldn't get past these self righteous morons. People desperately in need of hospital attention just had to lie there hoping someone could shift the protesters out of the way. The thing that angered me most was that the police did nothing. They could have made those morons sit on the grass verge instead of the road.

Catsmere · 20/10/2023 01:31

Even saying he rammed them seems an exaggeration. The word implies speed to me, but he drove very slowly. He obviously wasn't trying to hurt these idiots, just to get through.

RLmadmum · 20/10/2023 01:40

I saw a video of them stopping someone driving a Tesla the other day... But let the petrol/diesel cars continue 🙈

MontyJames · 20/10/2023 02:14

@Time4TERF totally agree with you . I support their cause not their tactics and I hate that floating death warehouse thing our country is sticking asylum seekers in. It's vile.

Icepinkeskimo · 20/10/2023 02:32

If you stand in the road you’re asking to get run over, they obviously need to learn the green cross code!

its never a good idea to sit in the road either, it’s no place to have a picnic.

IMarchToADifferentDrummer · 20/10/2023 02:38

Kudos to that driver!! He had a timetable to keep to, as I'm sure some of his passengers had, too!
Those IDIOTS are a danger to themselves and others. Their sponsor has even pulled out, realising it's not working!!!

TheCheerfulNihilist · 20/10/2023 03:09

They are very much relying on people's goodwill here.

At some point, someone is going to snap and people are going to die. If you create a dangerous situation, you can't then whine that it is dangerous.

IsThereABarUpThere · 20/10/2023 04:40

stonedaisy · 19/10/2023 21:11

Some of you are so blood thirsty. You'd love for someone to have been hurt wouldn't you.
I hope the driver gets severely punished by his employer and by the law.

Nah.

If he's raising funds for a lawyer I'd happily donate.

crumblingschools · 20/10/2023 00:54

Because in reality they’re just a bunch of work-shy, entitled, rent-a-protesters. They’ll join in with whatever cause enables them to display their moral superiority. Twats.

blueskybees · 20/10/2023 09:43

stonedaisy · 19/10/2023 20:18

Disagree. The video made me tense and one false move and someone would have gone under the wheels.
Its dangerous driving end of.
Seriously is human life or injury meaningless to you?

I think people should be expected to take reasonable care of themselves.
If you actively choose not to, the consequences are on you.
If you step in front of a moving car without looking, the driver is not responsible for the accident.
I put this in the same category. If you see a moving vehicle and still choose to stand in front of it, it’s on you.

My insurance won’t pay out if I leave my door unlocked as I have not taken reasonable care.
