Sorry, but I do! He just kept slowly driving through them. I'm heartily tired of the bully boy tactics of Just Stop Oil thinking they can rely on people not to keep driving at them. I'm so glad he called their bluff. Also glad it was Scotland. They are pretty hardy there and take nae shite!

I love the way the protestors seem genuinely outraged at being put at 'risk' even though they are choosing to sit in front of his bus....

Quick way to solve that @NoRealChange they move?

I am not supporting the protestors at all. What I am saying is that the driver could ruin his own life by ending up in prison, sentenced by a judge. I don’t think he would get off lightly if a protestor was injured, as he is the one driving and had the chance to avoid them. He would fall foul of the legal system, despite it being the protestors’ ‘fault’.

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 19/10/2023 20:12

Has the driver been arrested (and if so is he raising funds for a lawyer?)
All those saying 'poor protestors' what would you do if someone blocked you getting out of your drive permanently? Smile and let them get on with it as long as they want and do nothing?

stonedaisy · 19/10/2023 20:18

Disagree. The video made me tense and one false move and someone would have gone under the wheels.
Its dangerous driving end of.
Seriously is human life or injury meaningless to you?

caringcarer · 19/10/2023 20:25

I think he's a hero. Just slowly drove along making the Numpty's move out the way. JSO are always causing vehicles a problem. I wish they'd get arrested.

They put themselves at risk. There's protesting then there's being an idiot forcing people to delay their journey
They made that choice
No sympathy

Absolutely
Arrogant twats every one of them.

TimeForBedSaidZebadee · 19/10/2023 20:47

Love someone calling the driver an idiot.
The idiots are those standing in front of a moving bus and complaining that "someone could be killed"

If anyone got hurt it was completely their own fault.

MidnightOnceMore · 19/10/2023 20:57

I don't support the driver.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 19/10/2023 21:03

The coach driver should get a bonus - top work.

Time4TERF · 19/10/2023 21:06

"Everyone just sit down in front of it," says the man stood ten feet away who doesn't sit down?!?

stonedaisy · 19/10/2023 21:11

Some of you are so blood thirsty. You'd love for someone to have been hurt wouldn't you.
I hope the driver gets severely punished by his employer and by the law.

MBeat · 19/10/2023 21:12

I think the confusion is they were Just Stop oil protestors (they identified as them) but we’re in this case stopping a coach to the Bibby Stockholm.
Driving wise the driver has spotters at the front walking as he proceeds very carefully , he does brake briefly in response. He’s at walking speed with lookouts at the windscreen. The risk is low. Apparently they were also damaging the coach. Police were near. Maybe on balance extremely slow driving as a bit safer than being mobbed and damage occurring.
As much as they were protesting, being on that coach - which was getting there either way- must have been unnerving with damage, shouting and crowds. The end of a rough and inevitable journey.
I totally support the protestors who May their voices heard with welcome placards, cheers and clapping to welcome the migrants as their action. That was a good thing

cardibach · 19/10/2023 21:52

LetMeGoogleThat · 19/10/2023 17:44

Even the name Just stop Oil has a brattish feel about it, in my head I add 'or I will scream and scream, until I'm sick'

That says more about your head than JSO.

cardibach · 19/10/2023 21:53

blueskybees · 19/10/2023 17:48

I stand by people not standing in front of vehicles going about their legitimate business.
I stand by said people not being outraged when said vehicles don't obligingly facilitate their protest by stopping for them.

If this is JSO - like it says it is - I also think this is a good example of how groups should keep focused on their core mission and not get diverted off into other areas.

I don’t think taking people to live on a barge which the Fire Safety people have said isn’t safe is ‘legitimate business’ though. So that deals with that.

I wouldn’t drive over them I don’t think. I’d probably call the police and wait for a legal resolution. The options aren’t run them over or do nothing at all.

They do get arrested. Frequently. So he could have waited for that to happen instead of escalating the situation.

All they had to do was not sit in front of a lorry.

It isn't in Scotland, it's in Dorset. Although it's still not ok to risk someone's life and the bus driver should lose his licence. You can't put someone's life at risk just because they inconvenience or annoy you

MoochingAbout · 19/10/2023 22:32

What a bunch of utter, time wasting idiots.

I completely support the poor coach driver.

call the police? It's not normally advisable to take the law into your own hands.

There are often threads on here about school run mums who block driveways. Would it be ok to run them over too?

They did it to themselves. Morons.

Gothambutnotahamster · 19/10/2023 22:35

YANBU Op - I fully support the bus driver too. You're right about them being bullies and needing people to stand up to them!

sleepyscientist · 19/10/2023 22:38

@WillowCraft they put their lives at risk standing in front of a bus. They could have protested at the side of the road or outside number 10. Don't agree with him driving at them but if someone wants to pick them up and move them that would be fair
