Not to feel sorry for David Walliams?

And to think that if he's going to be rude and indecent while wearing a microphone on set that you don't have an expectation of privacy?

And suicidal thoughts, my arse.

He's just sorry he got caught.

I have, too - but if I was caught out I'd own it!

And I've never publicly and deliberately humiliated anyone.

I feel like he’s on the cusp of a Russell Brand-type reckoning soon.. I hope you are right, @Sparklesocks

Jack Monroe is a lying scammer. @slore

Yes - and she is vindictive in the extreme, too - she has set her "flying monkeys' on many people who disagreed with her (once on a disabled man whose post she misinterpreted - she nearly broke him IIRC). I would love to see her get her comeuppance.

She is another one who pulls the mental (and physical) health card if she's ever called to account. A thoroughly unpleasant individual and proven liar

Jack Monroe is genuinely an appalling person. I've been hoping for her thoroughly deserved cancellation and criminal charges for years, but sadly she's officially "one of the good ones" (woke lefty) so it will never happen. Also I doubt the media would want to admit they published her fairytales for 11 years without fact-checking a single thing.

No one is asking for books to be banned, the poster merely pointed out that DW's books would never have been accepted for publication if he wasn't a celeb.

I was reading an article about the publishing world the other day and only about 3% of books that are published actually find a publisher willing to take them, the rest are self-published. There are surely millions of books out there that are never published at all. Point is there are a LOT of people writing books. Only a tiny, tiny percentage are good enough to attract the attention of a publisher. This is not "censorship" or "book banning", it's the commercial realities of an industry that is extremely competitive and oversubscribed.

It isn't "woke tantrumming" to suggest that publishers should look for writing quality over celebrity names. I am a novelist myself and a lot of publishers won't look at you if you don't have a high social media following. Remember, JK Rowling was a complete unknown and suffered many rejections. If JK Rowling was trying to get her first book published today, it's very possible Harry Potter would have never been published because she wasn't famous enough.

And factually the vast, vast majority of books that are banned, and banned by Right Wing/Conservative organisations or politicians (or after campaigns from far right/"Family Values" organisations).

It's laughably hypocritical to say that book banning is woke tantrumming. It's not "wokesters" banning books, it's right wingers who want any book that mentions that gay people exist, or that racism exists, to not exist.

It's really very ironic that you accuse someone of playing the race card while also claiming that DW is a victim of anti-white racism, considering one of the main reasons books are banned is because they discuss racism, and right wingers are apparently triggered by that.

IMarchToADifferentDrummer · 20/10/2023 02:52

While we're on this, and yes, do get rid of him, could someone remind the women on BGT etc that they're on TV, which children watch and not on a beach somewhere, so put some bloody clothes on!!!

Standard right wing slur tactic - accuse the other side of doing what you're actually doing. Sad thing is, people are stupid enough to fall for it.

going against the grain but there's something truly sinister about sound engineers (or whoever it was) leaking private conversations. Of course you're going to say off the cuff things during an entire day- you're not going to be fully on your guard- and you shouldn't have to be.
What he said about the female contestant was horrible but I'd argue that we all say nasty things- it's human nature to gossip and sometimes rather brutally if to friends.
Imagine someone told you they'd recorded everything you'd said today and intended to publicise it? I know I wouldn't be feeling very relaxed!

I came on to say exactly this ^^

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!! all these people commenting… what non of you have ever said anything that someone would be offended by?! … of course you have!

FredFrenackerpan · 20/10/2023 09:45

I'm soft as anything and normally do feel sorry for people if they're having a hard time or whatever, no matter who they are.

But not this creepy fucker. Shit books, shit person.

So he can’t criticise the contestants but you can.. lol

"worries that other private and personal matters my be leaked"

Yeah, I bet he is.

Also, "fears that what he says and does may be recorded and leaked without his consent".

Whilst I agree that private information shouldn't be leaked without consent, if he didn't say such vile things, then there wouldn't be any impetus to leak anything.

"worries that other private and personal matters my be leaked"

Hahahaha.

The sooner they're leaked and he is exposed as a predator the better!

RubyRubyRubyRubay · 20/10/2023 09:58

I have never called a client or colleague a cunt or laugh about them wanting to fuck me. No. It is not acceptable for anyone to do this in any line of work.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 20/10/2023 10:02

Not sure if this comment is on here but SIL’s cousin who’s 33 and is an actress now, met Walliams when she was either waitressing or eating at The Ivy (main one near Leicester Square) and he asked her out and they started dating. He invited her over to his LA home and she found evidence there that he was seeing other women and she flew straight home. This was before he got married and had his DC.

The age gap is sleazy to me but his behaviour is yuck generally. No sympathy for him at all.

Sparklesocks · 18/10/2023 21:57

You reap what you sow.

I feel like he’s on the cusp of a Russell Brand-type reckoning soon.

I really really hope so. The man's been sitting in plain sight long enough.

cardibach · 20/10/2023 10:14

LeonBlack · 18/10/2023 21:54

I have definitely said things about other people that I wouldn’t want recorded and shared. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t.

Have you done it at work when you know you are being recorded though?

AtlasPine · 20/10/2023 10:16

In most professions you would be sacked not necessarily for saying bad stuff about clients but if that stuff was leaked and published.

Its the risk in any context of bad mouthing someone you depend on for a business.

And if your bad mouthing on top of being nasty is sexist or anything else-ist - well your exposure and subsequent discipline in the workplace is the risk you take.

Grimchmas · 20/10/2023 10:17

Munsnetters have been predicting his fall for years.

He made those comments during work hours, on a work premises, and while mic'd up.

Hiding in plain sight.

Disturbia81 · 20/10/2023 10:18

Ugh. Gaslighter. Takes no responsibility for what he's said. Awful way to talk about people and there is no need. Imagine Peter Kay doing that? No because there is no need.

Disturbia81 · 20/10/2023 10:20

JemimaTiggywinkles · 18/10/2023 20:42

you don't say anything out loud that could be used against you- ever?- not to good friends in the pub, not to a close colleague at work? wow!

Most people don’t say things as bad as Walliams has. I’ve never referred to anyone I’ve met at work as a cunt, for example. Nor discussed whether people I met at work want to fuck me. I don’t think I’m unusual.

Exactly. Weird that some think this is normal convo, says a lot about them.

DeeplyMovingExperience · 20/10/2023 10:22

He is a skin-crawling creep. And I've met him.

Another example of the Savile-style-hiding-in-plain-sight celebrity situation.

Movinghouseatlast · 20/10/2023 11:16

Disturbia81 · 20/10/2023 10:20

Exactly. Weird that some think this is normal convo, says a lot about them.

Absolutely. And if they decide this is appropriate in the workplace they may get more than they bargained for.

You simply can't say stuff like this at work. I work in employment law and vould give many examples of people who've lost their jobs whilst protesting that it was just a joke/ a private conversation/ letting off steam under pressure.

AInightingale · 20/10/2023 11:52

Hate the way some people talk in the workplace. The worst offender I ever met was female. Think she believed being a woman made it somehow more acceptable. She used to sit at her desk and relay conversations she'd had with male colleagues about who they'd 'fuck' among us. I really think a factor in the desire to wfh is not having to endure really unpleasant, asinine colleagues and listening to the relentless drivel and casual character assassination of others that gets dismissed as 'workplace chat'.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 20/10/2023 12:21

I've been thinking about this, and I'm pretty confident the worst thing I have ever said about someone at work is 'She's one of those irritating people who smiles all the time.' And the worst thing I've said outside work about people who I work with is that they're incompetent.

I stand by both.

Turfwars · 20/10/2023 14:14

There's loads of jobs where you're being recorded. I managed to do 8 hours a day being recorded in a call center on every interaction even when the customer was on hold. It was made clear to me from the start that calls were monitored and recorded and to ensure that if they ever had to hand over a recording to a caller that it would be unedited.

I managed to comply for several years and so did all of my colleagues. You saved your bitching for the smoke break or lunch room.

But I'd say he's been doing it for years. There's a reason it's come out now and just like Russel Brand, he was protected until he outlived his usefulness.

ClaraBourne · 20/10/2023 14:22

Maybe he can write a shitty kids book about it and still earn some money.

Pinkfluff76 · 20/10/2023 14:45

Totally agree!!! Spot on!

Pinkfluff76 · 20/10/2023 14:46

I’ve never liked him and I think his books are rubbish, rude and wanky and my kids definitely don’t read them. He wouldn’t have been published unless he was famous already.

Bertiesmum3 · 20/10/2023 14:50

Who is he??
