Not to feel sorry for David Walliams?

And to think that if he's going to be rude and indecent while wearing a microphone on set that you don't have an expectation of privacy?

And suicidal thoughts, my arse.

He's just sorry he got caught.

Sounds like he's is having a really shit time at the moment. I prefer not celebrate when people are having a shit time, if I can't offer empathy then I scroll on rather than putting out more negativity about them. Perhaps you should do the same.

ScruffMuffin · 18/10/2023 20:32

@Boundoverbyacat wow. I didn't know that, but he's done it to unsuspecting adults a few times as well. I wish I could say that I'm surprised it happened to a child, but I'm not. He is just disgusting. Sleazy, pervy, entitled, sexist, racist... the list goes on. And he sexually assaulted a CHILD. Urgh.

When the RB thing came out, I thought DW would be next. I couldn't point to a specific incident to explain why. There's always just been something very off and a bit sinister about him.

The thing that angers me the most is that these loaded 'celebrities' get away with it for so long, have people to cover for them and can buy people's silence. Some of them literally think they're above the law. I hope his face never sullies a TV screen again. And as for his books... well!!!

I'm pretty sure he has pulled other guys' trousers and pants down on stage, against their wishes. Vile man

he pulled a 16yr old child’s trousers and pants down and kissed his bottom on stage. He’s a sick fuck.

Hells bells! 😮

That's horrible - that poor boy!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 18/10/2023 20:34

'Suicidal thoughts' seems to be the go to for men getting caught doesn't it? It's a 'back off, or else' threat. They can fuck off with that.

bemorelemmy · 18/10/2023 20:30

I get it, I'm in a minority of one!
as I say, it's just something unsavoury about leaking it all
by all means escalate to managers - I don't dispute the power imbalance- but if we publicised the ramblings of everyone we consider vile, thereby ruining their lives, there'd be no-one left.
I'll say again- he has a child- they'll google this and see a tonne of pure conjecture amid the genuine (albeit leaked) quotes "something off about him"- intimations of sexual assault.
@BiscuitsandPuffin you don't say anything out loud that could be used against you- ever?- not to good friends in the pub, not to a close colleague at work? wow!

"Escalate to managers"? Seriously? You only need to look at like, literally every dodgy bloke in TV to see the managers don't care at best, and actively collude in abuse at worst.

It's same as every MRA saying to report rapes to police. Good fucking luck with that.

The typical routes of authority to get misogynistic abuse stopped are a morass of misogyny themselves. Women are going to have to do different things. Sue, not report to police. Surveil and leak, don't report to managers. Resist arrest FFS. What's that saying about it not being a small bit, it's built in.

Perhaps if you don't like to see people giving their opinions you should just scroll past and not police other people's posts.

Queucumber · 18/10/2023 20:35

His humour has always been the cruel, at the expense of others type from Little Britain through to the children’s books he sells. It’s exactly the kind of thing I’d expect him to be saying. He’s like Kenneth Williams without the talent.

Yep!

A play for sympathy.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 18/10/2023 20:36

If he's fallen on hard times he can move in with Laurence Fox and split the bills.

WastingTimeOnTheInternet · 18/10/2023 20:37

I’m glad he says he has lost his ability to be ‘funny’ - because his humour was cringy, creepy and vile. A massive attention seeker who needed to be taken down a peg or 2. I don’t normally celebrate the demise of a celebrity, but I definitely make an exception for that skin crawler. He brought it on himself saying such vile things about people, I don’t feel even slightly sorry for him.

bombastix · 18/10/2023 20:39

Absolutely unsorry. Manners cost nothing. Being vile about the general public when you rely on them for a job is arrogant and stupid.

ScruffMuffin · 18/10/2023 20:41

Without wishing to derail the thread...
His books smack of him trying to be a modern-day Roald Dahl, without the talent. Dahl was another deeply unpleasant individual. HOWEVER, in his stories the underdog, the small, the weak, the overweight (e.g. Bruce Bogtrotter from Matilda) and the poor (Charlie) usually triumph. DW loves to insult those kinds of characters.

milkydress · 18/10/2023 20:42

Hope he stops writing that nonsense for children too. Awful books

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/10/2023 20:11

"Cunt. She thinks you'd want to fuck her but you don't."

Vile, misogynist shit. And in classic fashion, is sad because he got caught, not because he said it.

Gross. He deserves what happened.

I take it he’s about to try and sue. Wonder what outcome will be

His writing is awful and plagiaristic too

All round too creepy

JemimaTiggywinkles · 18/10/2023 20:42

Most people don’t say things as bad as Walliams has. I’ve never referred to anyone I’ve met at work as a cunt, for example. Nor discussed whether people I met at work want to fuck me. I don’t think I’m unusual.

Emotionalsupportviper · 18/10/2023 20:35

Yep!

A play for sympathy.

Even more sinister it’s a classic move in the abusive male handbook- a threat to kill themselves when they don’t get their way or when a mere woman tries to assert her boundaries.

He can fuck right off. Prick. As if any woman would think she’d want to fuck that complete pillock.

C8H10N4O2 · 18/10/2023 20:43

If he ever had the ability to be funny he lost it long before his first appearances on television.

He is supposed to be a professional in media - you assume the mikes are on at all times. He's a bigot and unprofessional who is whining because he let his own mask fall.

HamBone · 18/10/2023 20:44

I don’t like him at all and I think it’s time that his unpleasant behavior stopped-he’s NOT funny.

But, unlike some posters, I do actually believe that he’s struggling with his MH. I remember reading ages ago that he attempted suicide at least twice when young ( just Googled and it was confirmed) so I can believe that he’s struggling now.

LlynTegid · 18/10/2023 20:45

The basis that was is said in the workplace even if during a break can be considered grounds for dismissal or other disciplinary action is something I recall being established at least ten years ago.

Hope his claim is unsuccessful.

Emotionalsupportviper · 18/10/2023 20:45

Plus Dahl was original and inventive. @ScruffMuffin and a pleasure to read.

He was also one of the few authors who bothered to reply to my neighbour's son (who was then about 10, I think) when he was doing a school project and contacted some children's authors to ask what their childhood hobbies were for his project.

It was a very brief response (I think collecting birds eggs, or maybe bird-watching was one of his hobbies IIRC), but he replied. Most didn't, despite there being a SAE included with the request.

Escapetofrance · 18/10/2023 20:46

I imagine he may well feel suicidal after what has happened. He shouldn’t have said what he did and I’m not sure if he has apologised for it. I don’t think suing is the answer for him, but perhaps look at other careers?

I agree, @Escapetofrance . He’s behaved appallingly and he needs to do something else with his life-he’s got more than enough money to make a fresh start.

ScruffMuffin · 18/10/2023 20:51

I agree, @Emotionalsupportviper. I love Dahl's books, even though we know there are issues surrounding some of the language he used/ political incorrectness nowadays. He was also a complicated and difficult man. But his stories are whimsical, funny and engaging. Nothing like the shite DW turns out. I've flicked through a few of them because my kids used to read them, but they lost interest pretty quickly.
