Madonna"s daughter, Mercy

I'm not a huge Madonna fan but clips of her tour are coming up om my Google feed. Apparently her three daughters are performing with her. Fair enough, i thought. Then, i couldn't believe my eyes seeing a clip of her TEN year old daughter was voguing on stage in a skintight catsuit and thigh high shiny leather boots with a massive spike heel. This is a child dancing provocatively dressed like a, stripper in front of thousands of people. It's horrible. I know Madonna isn't mother of the year but she really okayed this routine and outfit for her child... Aibu in thinking it's really wrong?

Oh give over - she was just dancing in fancy dress in the clip I saw. She looked like she was having fun!

Fancy dress?! Are we talking about tge same clip? I saw another routine with her wearing a cowboy hat and that was fine. Well, if you'd let your 10 year old gyrate on stage wearing the same boots as JR's wore in Pretty Woman, okay.

Her mum is Madonna. Madonna who goes topless on Instagram live and posts nude photos on social media. I think being on stage in high heeled boots is one of the least shocking things the kid has seen or been exposed to.

Tbh just watched the clip. I think the thigh highs are a bad choice for a 10 year old but I don't see anything wrong with the outfit or the dance. She doesn't look a stripper and it wasn't a provocative dance.

I just read that Mercy is 17. It's Estere in the yellow and black catsuit and black spiked thigh high boots and I'm with you OP, not at all appropriate for a ten year old. She looked more like a 15 or 16 year old. Very sexualised, I found it disturbing.

Mercy was playing the piano and being generally AMAZING. Madonna is clearly an incredibly loving and involved mother. We stayed at a hotel they'd all been to last summer and the staff said she was really good fun and was always just playing and having fun with her kids.

I’m not a pearl clutched by anyone’s standards but I thought it was super inappropriate too when I saw it. She’s a great performer but that’s was most definitely sexualised from the dancing to the outfit. I think I read she’s eleven and I went back to read it twice because I was like really? Eleven?!

plenty of kids are amazing performers - think Matilda’s, billy elliots, etc - they aren’t in knee high boots grinding around. It wouldn’t be allowed actually. Kids can have fun and be professional dancers and performers. They don’t need to be sexy.

in fact while we’re at it - adult (female) performers could try their hand at not being sexy every time they perform. How about just performing. Adele did pretty well off that.

That was no shade to Adele haha. She’s sexy. Just doesn’t feel the need to squeeze in to a corset and shake her butt every time she gets on stage.

The outfit would be inappropriate in a school playground but on stage with Madonna/mum then it's expected. I'm sure her kids have brilliant lives. She's a fantastic dancer.. Thought the same when I saw Beyoncé's daughter on stage, unbelievable talent.

This in a way highlights the complaints of community groups in some places, because their children look a lot older and people don't respond to them as children. Including the MET, were we've had strip searches.
The dancing isn't sexual, it's being sexualised. Those girls don't go anywhere unsupervised. The dangers aren't there. I don't believe that any daughters of Madonna won't be clued up and protected. To them, it's performing and play acting.

Firstly, Mercy is 17. It was Estero, 11, on the stage. I went and watched it on account of this thread.

She was voguing.

And wearing Versace that covered most of her body.

I think you have preconceived notions about Madonna that are prejudicing your perception of Estere.

Beyonce’s daughter Blue is also dancing at her concerts in stage outfits… they are preparing their daughters for the creative careers they aspire to.

Looked like Estere did a great job and had fun! 10 from me.

Actually I think Madonna is a very good mother. From what I understand, least she’s not on line slagging off other women’s parenting skills and not even getting the child’s name right,,

This is pearly clutching and the watcher sexualises. Many of us don’t see it. It’s what you, the watcher sees.
