Bit of light hearted fun.....

Who indulges in fan fiction......I'm guilty and in particular the naughty sexy stuff

Hands up 🤣👋

I have read virtually nothing but Our Flag Means Death fanfiction on A03 since Feb. It's been like an obsession. I regret nothing 😀

Smartiepants79 · 16/10/2023 21:44

I love fan fiction! Read across many different fandoms depending on my mood.
some truly wonderful writers on there.

GwenogJones · 16/10/2023 21:51

I read a bit but I'm not a huge fan of it as a reader. I do write a lot of it though (over 2 million words published on A03). currently I write for HP - my WIPs are a marauders era fic and a retelling of Pride and Prejudice with Remus as Lizzie and Sirius as Darcy!

peachgreen · 16/10/2023 21:55

I was a fairly well-known Merlin writer many moons ago. Met some wonderful
friends through it too, one of whom is now a very successful, award-winning published author! (Her fic was INCREDIBLE but sadly all deleted now!)

FlowerPower12345 · 16/10/2023 22:00

I have been reading and writing Labyrinth fanfiction since I was a young teen, I'm now 35 🙂

GrandTheftWalrus · 16/10/2023 19:45

Ooh could you send a link?

I used to read a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction. Not the smutty stuff although if it was in it I wouldn't mind. Lots of it was really well written and filled in the gaps between the end of deathly hallows and 19yrs later very well.

@GrandTheftWalrus I've PMd you.

BigDahliaFan · 17/10/2023 07:30

I was thinking of starting a similar thread of how in my mid 50s I’ve suddenly fallen into a Good Omens fan zone….it’s embarrassing. Can’t do smut on that one though or even fan fiction, not read anything that didn’t make me roll eyes by page 2 so it’s reading obsessive fan theories on tumbler. A lot of it is very witty. It’s easy escapist stuff.

when the Sherlock bbc was on I absolutely loved the fan fic for that, all of it, some of it was really well written.

CornedBeef451 · 17/10/2023 11:43

@GregoryFluff thanks for the recommendations. I don't think I know Sobsicles but Northern Sparrow is my favourite writer, I read Flight annually when I need to feel things.

I've also interacted with her on Twitter, I felt like a fangirl, she's very cool.

fanfictionlover · 17/10/2023 17:37

Loving all your answers there are some super talented writers out there

Cosyclothes · 22/11/2023 20:10

I absolutely love Dramione fan fiction! My favourites are Silencio, Isolation and Manacled ❤️

Bloatstoat · 22/11/2023 20:20

I am a big fan of Chalet School fan fiction Blush I can admit that as I know I'm not the only mumsnetter who reads it as it was posts on here that introduced me to it. As others have said there are some v talented writers, I'm so grateful to the people who take tge time to write it, I'm massively uncreative but I love to read.

shivawn · 22/11/2023 20:21

Never read fanfiction as an adult but I used to read piles and piles of Buffy fanfic as a teenager.

Namechange1345677 · 22/11/2023 20:43

Currently going through a Hannigram stage on AO3!

Firefly2009 · 22/11/2023 20:48

Do you make any money from writing it?

RoseMartha · 22/11/2023 20:56

I have written some. Not recently as time has been an issue and i would also like move onto writing original fiction.

Pastlast · 22/11/2023 21:10

I went through a big buffy ff phase as a teenager and then life happened. I’ve recently come back to it and have become embarrassingly obsessed with Loki (marvel version) and stories which give him a redemption arch or opportunity to reunite with his family. I’ve even started to write some and working up the courage to post.

I’ve got no idea why I’m devoting hours I should be sleeping reading this stuff and I’d cringe if anyone knew about it IRL.

Catinabeanbag · 22/11/2023 21:13

I've been reading fan fiction for about 15 years and writing for about six or seven. Published on a couple of sites (one no longer active). I've read a lot on AO3 but never published on there.
Wasn't aware of fan fiction.net, so there's a whole new load of stories to read!!

SherbetDips · 22/11/2023 21:14

Me there are some really talented writers out there. The show I read it for or specifically the ship is fantasy as well so lots of scope for imagination.

TheFireflies · 22/11/2023 21:15

Yes, I read and write. Bit of Star Wars but mostly video games. Mass Effect, Dragon Age mainly. I’m quite open about it.

tillytoodles1 · 22/11/2023 21:18

I used to love Twilight fanfiction, especially the AU where there were human.

StoorieHoose · 22/11/2023 21:25

tillytoodles1 · 22/11/2023 21:18

Me too! I'm ashamed to admit that I've recently fell back into it and revisited some classics and found some new ones. I remember the twisluts threads on here many moons ago

reluctantbrit · 22/11/2023 21:33

I read lots of fanfiction, often also MM couples even if the series/book showed them with a female counterpart.

It dwindled down when I watched less and less TV but once in a while I go back to my favourite pages and look things up.

Beezknees · 22/11/2023 21:36

Firefly2009 · 22/11/2023 20:48

You're not allowed to make money from fanfiction.

Figment1982 · 22/11/2023 21:40

I’m currently reading far too much Cormoran Strike fan fiction 😳

secretfanficwriter · 22/11/2023 21:50

Just name changed for this as my ao3 username is the same as my posting name on here 😆
Yes, I do, both read and write, for a 90s teen show that has been finished for many years. Still a surprisingly large following 😊
