I've been writing a Harry Potter fan fiction series for at least the last decade. Currently on my characters' fifth year.

About 15 years ago I used to write it. I wrote a lot about a specific pair of fictional characters in a specific fandom. I gave it up though, because after a year or so I just started to find the whole ‘community’ of fans was a bit depressing and I was increasingly encountering people online who I would cross the street to avoid in real life. Some of them were really intense and obsessive over their favourite fics and fic writers.

I read and write in a few fandoms. It's good fun.

I ‘came out’ in RL as a fan fiction writer and reader a few years ago.

I’m working on my own stuff now but still in touch with a few people in the community and read their stories when they post them on AO3.

I think it’s a shame that fan fic falls into the ‘dirty little secret’ category for the majority…there are some really talented, hard working writers out there.

NorthernSparrow is an amazing writer, her fic Winter's Tale will rip your heart out, especially if you're a Cas girl
CasLostWings has some good AU stuff, as does FollowYourEnergy
There's just so much SPN stuff on AO3, I think there's in excess of 100k stories now, Destiel alone

I’m deep in a Roy x Jamie from Ted Lasso hole at the moment. And I’m always all about the ice hockey RPF - so much quality in that fandom.

I used to be a fairly prolific writer in an embarrassing, niche fandom linked to my username. Not written for a couple of years though. I really need to find my mojo again.

I used to read a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction. Not the smutty stuff although if it was in it I wouldn't mind. Lots of it was really well written and filled in the gaps between the end of deathly hallows and 19yrs later very well.

I've just worked out that I've been reading fanfiction for 20 years. It started out swapping stories we'd written with a school friend. Then we discovered a whole world online. I just didn't stop.
Rather embarrassingly I've turned into the clichéd lesbian reading slash fiction.

I've spent decades fuming that Janeway and Chakotay never got together.

I've had a fanfic idea swirling around in my brain for years, just to make up for the fact they never got together, I just never wrote it.

I am a secret Cardassian lover too.

Side note: I've been writing some Lucius Malfoy smut and I just cant finish it.

I used to write a lot, mostly Supernatural but also The Musketeers (BBC) and The A-Team. It's all on FanFiction.net and most on AO3. I haven't written anything for a long time but have been revisiting what I've written recently and thinking of starting again. I read it still, but no romance of any description and no smut either.
