I am a fanfiction writer for a very small vaguely embarrassing community. Every few years, someone posts a new story. I get so excited, even if the quality of writing is absolutely shite.

Yes. I read and write it. Quite a niche genre though (not Harry Potter despite the name!)

Me! I've stopped recently and moved onto original amature writing and trying to write my own stuff but fanfiction does pop up there too. Pokemon, hp and naruto seem to be the most common ones.

I also enjoy the 'mature' content especially shows where the live interests never got together in the original (or we didn't see much grrr)

Have written and still read a bit, nothing M rated but discovered it years ago when a TV series I loved ended and I didn't want to let go! If you whittle through the bad there are some good stories. I still get very excited if someone favorites one of my stories!

I loved it as a young teen, when I had time to search for good ones. Now it just seems impossible to find any and I get tired of trawling. Maybe I'm having bad luck with M content but they always seem incredibly vanilla or very "forget the lube, let's stick random things up there"

I read it and write it. I love writing the smutty stuff.

I think people would be super shocked. I’m a (objectively) a middle class mother of two under 5’s and very ‘vanilla’ in real life 😂

Google Archive of Our Own, most of it's there nowadays and searchable by fandom.
I wrote Sherlock Holmes slash and gen (the original books, not the ghastly BBC or Downey film versions) back in the day.

I fully recommend Archive of our own.

There is a whole plethora of excellent fanfiction for pretty much everything. Some of the best stuff I've read have been found on there.

Yea lol I read the stuff on fanfiction.net but don't dare tell anyone. It's like my secret buzz; I hide the screen any time anyone comes near me if I'm reading it, as though I'm having an affair!

Although I think of stories in my mind, I don't write them.

I love it. Some of it is better than the original.

As a Trek fan myself, I'm curious over the characters.

I love fan fiction Im not into the rude stuff though and sometimes I get an aversion to something if it's too far from the original characterisation I do love people killing the horrible characters off though of giving them really ghastly storylines

Is Larry Stylinson stuff fanfiction? I found that very disturbing having been signposted to it on a thread about One Direction on here years ago, with fans writing and creating pornographic photoshops and even sending it to the men's families.

Fictional characters though, I can understand the fun in creating alternative scenarios.

I was a Big Name Fan writer back in the early 2000s, in a now-defunct fandom.
