Why do M&S do this?!

AsACloud · 14/10/2023 16:44

Granted other stores probably do same but this is about M&S as that’s where I bought the jumper from.
I took the size sticker off the jumper and it’s left an imprint. Left the jumper for a while thinking it might ‘bounce back’ and it didn’t so I washed it, thinking the fibres might fluff out and still no luck. So there’s still a mark and an imprint…right at the front, under the neck too so in a really obvious place.
Any bright ideas to fix? Can’t return the jumper.

You can return the jumper, for being faulty, unless it’s inconvenient for you.

dementedpixie · 14/10/2023 16:45

Why can't you return it?
It looks like a fault to me

Tempnamechng · 14/10/2023 16:46

Take it back.

Trampley · 14/10/2023 16:47

Of course you can return it.

Blueberrycreampie · 14/10/2023 16:48

Return it!

AsACloud · 14/10/2023 16:48

Sorry, I should have been clear. I bought it in the spring and then didn’t use it as weather warmer so kept it for the winter. I cut the tags off and took the sticker off at the time and didn’t notice the imprint until I went to wear it this week.

Did you buy online as there will
be a record of purchase there? You can still return with proof of purchase if faulty.

I work for M&S and I’m actually responsible for those stickers . Basically, we have to use one adhesive which needs to stick to all types of fibres. Unfortunately, it adheres to some types of fabric more than others. Take it back to M&S and get a replacement or a refund.

octodrive · 14/10/2023 16:48

Return it.

They should give you a credit note if they have no stock to replace it.

AsACloud · 14/10/2023 16:52

No, I bought it in store and not even in the country where I live so couldn’t return it where I live (£ v €)

Ah I see, well thanks for explanation. However I bought it in the UK and live in Ireland so don’t have receipt or anything as binned it when I packed it to come home. Thank you though.

I’d be looking at ways to remove adhesive to see if that helped, I’ve used sticky stuff remover on walls, which might destroy the fabric, but could be worth a try if you can’t wear it or return it?

Treesinmygarden · 14/10/2023 17:19

Did you pay for it by card? You should have a record of the transaction as proof of purchase.

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 14/10/2023 17:19

Try putting the mark between 2 bits of baking paper then ironing.

MyCircumference · 14/10/2023 17:23

soak it
or leave an
ice cube on it

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 14/10/2023 17:25

May be worth an email explaining it to customer services, they might have a suggestion or even a credit note for the value that you could use online?

tellittothemoon · 14/10/2023 17:27

I was in M&S once and the old guy in front of me was returning a shirt he had bought SEVENTEEN years ago (I know because assistant looked up code). They accepted the return and gave him his money back (about a fiver, I think!). So - def return it.

VisionsOfSplendour · 14/10/2023 17:32

You seem to be looking for reasons not to try and return it. Unless you have to travel for miles is t it worth at least asking?

EwwSprouts · 14/10/2023 17:33

Agree ice cube, like you would on a carpet.

Bingo! Worked perfectly. Thanks so much. I knew one of you clever lot would suggest a crafty solution 😁
its not a different jumper by the way…it’s just getting dark so looks a different colour in the light!
