What's happening in your life?
What's your most pressing worry at the moment and how do you distract yourself from thinking about it, if you can that is?

I worry all the time about DS1 (26). He was diagnosed 15 months ago with a grade 4 glioblastoma. Whilst he is fit and well atm it is like a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

My granddaughter 11 months old (DS2 and partner) keeps me going. She is like a bright shiny star and the light of our lives.

Capz · 13/10/2023 18:37

A very close relative who is on bail and will be jailed for offences that I can't forgive and whether there will ever be a time I will speak to them again, and all of the impact this situation is having on everyone else in the family

I'm trying to focus on my kids tbh who don't know about this yet but will have to in the future

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/10/2023 18:42

My elderly mum and that I'll never be able to get on the property ladder now I'm 42

TweedTart · 13/10/2023 18:43

I’m grieving. I lost someone close 2 years ago and it’s still on my mind all the time. Work is my distraction. Weekends are harder.

catlovingdoctor · 13/10/2023 18:44

The awful suffering in Gaza- just horrendous

Tonty · 13/10/2023 18:45

My health and the fact I can't go back to the career i used to do anymore.

Lilibert456 · 13/10/2023 18:48

How much longer can my son keep living with his batshit wife who causes him so much stress and anxiety.

Gowlett · 13/10/2023 18:49

What the make my toddler for dinner tonight.

MaMisled · 13/10/2023 18:52

Reassuring my lovely DH that I love him dearly and I'm not going anywhere. I had a Bipolar related breakdown over the summer and caused him a world of hurt, convinced I wanted to start a new life. I don't, we're generally sooo happy together. I couldn't love him any more than I do and want him to believe that.

That I need to go to the doctors to find out why it causes me such pain to go to the bathroom. Usually it's just when I'm on my period but it's getting to be all the time. Annoying.

bluevelvetbox · 13/10/2023 19:36

My noisy upstairs neighbours. Small in comparison to a lot of posters on here though.

C6H12O6 · 13/10/2023 19:55

My worries are nothing compared to what is going on in the real world but (and I’ve told no one) … I’m in love with my best friend and have been for the last 2 years.

We are both married, nothing at all untoward has happened, nor will it. But I love him and it kills be every single day.

Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 13/10/2023 20:02

Worn down by constant harassment by neighbour. We have sent the police all cctv footage so just waiting for an outcome now.

GFgd · 14/10/2023 01:19

@Moveoverdarlin they would want you 😊 don’t ask yourself if they’ll like you, ask if you’ll like them!

Malbecmoron · 14/10/2023 01:24

@Ovoconfused thank you. That made me cry, means a lot. It truly is the worst of times.

junbean · 14/10/2023 01:39

Money. I distract myself by going on MN and reading about other people's problems 😅

The faces of the familes that have been evacuated to our small village from the troubled areas..
so much more to write but you get thet the picture..we are heartbroken, our souls are broken ...

Sending you love and strength

MrsChuckBass · 16/10/2023 05:42

-DSS mental health is in tatters right now and we can't let him out of our sight
-DP has had some worrying test results so we are back at the GP this week
-I need to get a house deposit together to give us all more stability and security

To cope I lie awake at night mumsnetting while the house is silent, cuddle the little DDs who have no concept of what's going on with DSS

FelicityFlops · 16/10/2023 06:25

Worrying about whether I will get a new contract role this year.
Worrying about whether I can find someone to service my entire heating system, not just the boiler.
Worrying about my teeth and gums as have just had extensive treatment, but am not really feeling any benefits.

ALargeChardonnayPlease · 16/10/2023 11:28

I worry about

My husband's mental health
My mother's mental health, close to retirement with no pension, lives alone..
My daughter's mental health, 2nd year at uni but I'm always worrying about her
The state of this country
The neverending cycle of global violence
Climate change
My own mental health

I distract myself by drinking wine, doing yoga, scrolling a lot of mumsnet, I used to read constantly but now I struggle...

Cecilisacaterpillar · 16/10/2023 11:56

Trying to come to terms with my fucked up family and how my DM turned a blind eye to my SF's highly inappropriate behaviour towards me as a child/teenager. I'm LC with DM and NC with SF for now but trying to figure out if/how that's going to look going forward and whether or not I'm going to blow my family up by telling them why. Feel like I'm hiding right now and it's getting more difficult to fend off DM's questions and attempts to see me, am having counselling but it's slow progress and feel like I'm running out of time.

Hbh17 · 16/10/2023 12:16

I find it interesting that people worry about things outside of their control.
Of course, the situation in Israel/Gaza is serious, but if I worry about it I won't change anything - worrying about it is pointless, so I just don't.
I can understand worrying about an exam or job interview, because I would be able to influence them, but then my stress would motivate me to perform or work hard, so it's not necessarily a bad thing - we do need adrenaline.
I suspect that as we get older, we realise that worrying is not worth the effort in most instances, so we do it less. Also, as we get older we realise that nothing is new in life, so we can be more sanguine (e.g. there has been war in the Middle East for thousands of years).

NunsKnickers · 16/10/2023 12:18

My Open University module. I love it but there's a lot to get through and some of it is really difficult!

CoalCraft · 16/10/2023 12:19

My cat's poorly feet :( She has pododermatitis, and tests suggest it's the start of an autoimmune disease :(
