I understand why they are so set on destroying Hamas

Having seen the stories of the women and girls raped at the festival (reportedly over their dead friends bodies) and the people taken off as hostage; I understand why Israel want to destroy Hamas. They have said that Hamas militants are dead men. They have said that they will go after them. The worst killing of Jewish people since the Holocaust and their 9/11 with death toll of over 1300 people.

The story of the women at the Music and Peace festival is here -

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12623023/Israeli-girls-raped-friends-bodies-Hamas-terrorists-carried-second-Holocaust-British-relatives-reveal-condemn-celebrated-atrocities-Gaza-Iran-London.html

Yet some people celebrated when the killings of Jewish people (they were from many different countries) at the festival was announced.

I feel sadness for everything going on in the middle east and for all the people who are innocent are are dying. Terrorists need to be stopped.

Hamas 'carried out a second Holocaust' in Israel British relatives say

Two British nationals, Noam Sagi and Sharon Lifschitz (pictured), spoke of how their elderly parents were torn from their beds and forcibly deported to Gaza by Hamas along with children

Wow, these comments making so little of the cruelty and savagery of Hamas actions.

My god I cannot imagine how terrified UK Jews must feel now, reading those comments. Seeing the amount of excuses, even support for Hamas. Seeingg how many people don't even support their right to defend themsleves. Sickening.

One of the things I don't understand is how Hamas are even getting the weapons into Gaza. They are blockaded on all sides, including the sea, so where the heck are they getting rocket launchers and rockets from?

Weapons supplied by Iran, and they have a pretty sophisticated network of tunnels.

How laughable that you think that statement does anything but show exactly what type of person you are.

They created smuggling tunnels apparently

I can't even begin to fathom the logistics of this - those tunnels must be insanely long.

itto · 12/10/2023 18:15

Honestly people at this point are justifying genocide. 2 million people parked in a tiny refugee camp, with no access to clean water nor electricity, internet cut so they can’t document what is happening to them, and over 6000 bombs randomly dropped on their heads. And banned white phosphorus added in for good measure. How long before there is nobody left? Couple of days? But that’s all ok because they receive warnings?? On what phones? There is NOTHING that justifies this. The pictures I have seen out of Gaza the last few days will stay with me forever.

Don’t think people are going against Jews but against Israel government? Or does any action that the British government do around the world fully represent the British citizens

I support Israel. I support my Jewish loved ones who live there and are joining the army.

I don't know why jews are always held to a high standard. Like they should just kindly accept terrorism.

I don't think it's holding Jews to a higher standard. It's expecting the leaders of a developed, democratic country to behave better than a terrorist group. Terrorist groups by their very nature commit murder and other atrocities but I expect developed countries to follow international law and not commit war crimes. Do I understand Israel's desire to bomb the hell out of Gaza, absolutely but we are heading for an unimaginable humanitarian crisis and I don't think the world should sit back and accept it.

And yet the photos of raped women, toddlers beaten to death and babies burnt alive didn’t?

Funny how those espousing we all see ‘both sides’ never seem to actually care about dead Jews.

Funny that.

Smuggling tunnels. And they don't use them for food or medicine. No matter what blockades Israel uses, no matter how Palestinians starve and suffer, weapons and ammo are the only things that always find a way through.

I think that something else people don't understand about Hamas is that they not only don't care about their own people, they want them to be killed if they think it helps bring about Israel's total annihilation. They deliberately station themselves in civilian areas and hospitals. They always have.

They don't care about the Palestinians. They care about killing Jews and destroying Israel.

ToughToffee · 12/10/2023 18:17

@KimberleyClark Yes, good point, he was regarded as one by the UK government way back then.

NotTerfNorCis · 12/10/2023 18:18

Well thankfully, some of us have a whole brain, and understand that Israel has no choice- destroy (Hamas) or be obliterated.

Hamas is a movement and an idea - that idea is Palestinian liberation. Israel could kill all the present members of Hamas but the idea won't go away.

Yes. After all they have deliberately escalated this. Their end game is presumably to either bring about war, or force Israel to retaliate in the hope of achieving the former.

They want the Palestinians to suffer, for their optics of framing Israel/Jewish people as the bad guys.

Nanamuffin · 12/10/2023 18:19

Why should the Palestinian people move out? It’s their land.
their land that was taken over and forcibly occupied. The retaliation is because of the occupation. People really need to read up on the history.

A news-short on YouTube showed a father crying with relief because his daughter was dead.

The thought of her being alive and suffering was too dreadful. I wept with him.

Hamas are filth - absolute filth! They have murdered and tortured Israelis, and condemned innocent Palestinian civilians, old and young, to a hideous and protracted death. There is nothing that justifies this.

Why do you keep talking about "the Jews"? Who are you referring to? Your last comment has been deleted for similar rhetoric, maybe think about what you are saying.

If that was Hamas' main objective, they'd have been negotiating for that two-state solution a long time ago.

But Hamas don't want that. They don't want peace for Palestinians, in fact, innocent Palestinian deaths help to enforce hatred against Israel. They want to kill all Jews. That is their mission.

Malvasylvestris · 12/10/2023 18:26

If you fully support Israel and fly their flag etc then that means you fully support the ethnic cleansing they are carrying out in Gaza.

So by your logic it is ok for the Israeli government to kill innocent civilians for their cause but not for Hamas to kill innocent civilians for theirs. Because Israel's 'right to defend herself' trumps all else.

It's not a case of the good guys against the bad guys, more Iike the bad guys against the bad guys.

I'm sick of people equating Hamas with Palestine, they are not the same thing. My government may be democratically elected but it certainly does not represent me.

Daebak · 12/10/2023 18:26

people will start to distance themselves from the Jews

I’m not seeing this actually.

Most people I know who were on the fence are now firmly on the side of Israel. It’s very visible with younger people and on social media, where Hamas were stupid enough to livestream their sickening acts of terror.

This. Attempts to destroy Hamas will only cause new Hamas members to spring up in their place. In the long term the only way to get rid of terrorists is to marginalise them, make them in unnecessary in the country they are operating in because the people don’t need them to live peaceful and prosperous lives. Even if that means they eventually become politicians. See Mandela, McGuinness, Begin.

Those people who came out demonstrating in support of Hamas should have been dispersed and their leader arrested. Police should have come down hard - riot police if necessary.

This is open racism. It is a hate demonstration. It shouldn't be happening in the UK.

itto · 12/10/2023 18:28

Your comments are particularly disgraceful because I happen to be born from the womb of a very Zionist Jewish mother, and I tell my family exactly the same thing as I write here. Being a human being who values life equally on both side, whatever their skin colour or religion, I can cry for all victims. But nothing justifies the massacre that is happening in Gaza. People are dying with no hospital to take them in, no water to clean their wounds. People are digging their children’s bodies out of rumble with their bare hands. How many Palestinian lives (not Hamas supporters, Palestinian civilians) do you feel need to be taken to avenge for Israeli deaths? What is the acceptable ratio? At which point will you feel enough innocent blood has been shed? Your comments make it very clear that 1. You have no regards whatsoever for Palestinian suffering and deathand 2.No regards for international law. If you think this is a positive development for Israelis and for Jews everywhere, you are very misguided.

Wetblanket78 · 12/10/2023 18:28

Just seen a clip of a dad saying he's just found out his 8 year old daughter is dead and is relieved. He said it was better than her being taken hostage and tortured by Hama's.😭😭😭

Agree with this. Public opinion among young people on TikTok (according to my kids) has swung clearly to Israel now.
