I understand why they are so set on destroying Hamas

Having seen the stories of the women and girls raped at the festival (reportedly over their dead friends bodies) and the people taken off as hostage; I understand why Israel want to destroy Hamas. They have said that Hamas militants are dead men. They have said that they will go after them. The worst killing of Jewish people since the Holocaust and their 9/11 with death toll of over 1300 people.

The story of the women at the Music and Peace festival is here -

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12623023/Israeli-girls-raped-friends-bodies-Hamas-terrorists-carried-second-Holocaust-British-relatives-reveal-condemn-celebrated-atrocities-Gaza-Iran-London.html

Yet some people celebrated when the killings of Jewish people (they were from many different countries) at the festival was announced.

I feel sadness for everything going on in the middle east and for all the people who are innocent are are dying. Terrorists need to be stopped.

Hamas 'carried out a second Holocaust' in Israel British relatives say

Two British nationals, Noam Sagi and Sharon Lifschitz (pictured), spoke of how their elderly parents were torn from their beds and forcibly deported to Gaza by Hamas along with children

The climate of Israel.
The Negev desert and semi-desert at the bottom of Israel belongs to Israel because they wanted it and settled it, or rather the Jewish Agency did. The Morrison-Grady plan would have given it to Palestine, luckily only Morrison and Grady approved of their plan. Israel has access to the Gulf of Arabia via Eilat, which is in the pointy bit at the bottom. They are protected from ships running aground in the Suez.

The climate of Palestine
Gaza is rather small and the West Bank is quite hilly.

Just read Hamas has said they’ll release the international hostages once the conditions for the release are good

What on earth does once the conditions for release are good mean?

Guardian reporting: Hamas demanded the release of “6,000 male and female prisoners in Israeli prisons” in exchange for hostages it took during its attacks on 7 October. The group’s captives include “high-ranking officers” of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Khaled Meshaal, head of Hamas’s diaspora office, said. A Hamas spokesperson said there were “about 200-250” Israeli captives in Gaza, contradicting an earlier statement from the Israeli military that said it had confirmed 199 hostages.

I'm sure this sort of barter does not normally work.

Not that. Mainly that there is no risk to their life once released

Hamas says it is preparing to release non-Israeli hostages

A spokesman for Hamas says the group is prepared to release non-Israeli hostages once conditions allow movement in Gaza.

@Lastchancechica you said not sure whether was this thread or another one that the guardian was quite antisemitism

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-67122609.amp

The fact he has been working there in plain sight for multiple years hiding behind humour isn’t ideal. I am glad the guardian are addressing the issue now. There are many more that need to go.

Whilst i back Israel, i now think enough is enough, the bombing has to stop and Israel re instate power water etc.
The are expecting Hospitals to relocate and the main hospital has partially shut due to lack of power.

If they don't then the conclusion has to be they want the Palestinians removed, whatever the cost.

The documentary The Holyland And Us spoke a bit about what Israel was able to do with the less than favourable land to grow food on.

Very interesting!

Israel has been forward thinking not just in terms of military defence, but also agricultural land use.

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 17/10/2023 13:52

This picture is from Egypt, it is a good illustration of how with irrigation you can grow in a desert.

Finding desert farms on Google earth is good fun.

Growing food in Gaza has many issues, most of them outside of the Palestinians control.

I understand why they are so set on destroying Hamas

Those saying that arrests made on people in Gaza are because they’re from Hamas …

are these kids really Hamas ?

Have you actually watched your own clip? The kids were clearly in a dangerous place (probably set up exactly for this video!) The Israeli soldiers were very gentle with the children and one of them called the kids sweetie. The soldiers were clearly moving the children to safety.

Is this really the best you can do? What I see on here is concern and gentleness.

DavidSnow007 · 17/10/2023 16:19

Are people actually trawling through Youtube looking for anti-Israeli items post? Because if they, I'm going to bat for Israel and show you some videos about the other side that would blow your mind.

That's what some people are doing, so you may as well post some material showing the other perspective. 👍

If they’re in Palestina then the Israel forces shouldn’t be telling a child where they should be.

also if they’re moving them to safety there is a militar at some point saying arrest them ?

DavidSnow007 · 17/10/2023 16:41

I can't post the actual YT video as it shows many instances of Palestinians stabbing random Israelis in the streets, supermarkets, etc, etc

Logically it makes no sense for Israeli forces to deliberately target schools or hospitals as it does nothing to degrade Hamas military capability or to reach the stated goal of removing Hamas from power.

I know logically … however, we’ve seen hospitals / un buildings / schools being bombed. If all this is a mistake from their army then maybe they should look into who they’ve got as they’re not doing their job well and they’re killing innocents

SurprisedWithAHorse · 17/10/2023 19:48

And now you know why Hamas lodges itself among civilians. We know it wants to kill all Jews, but so many people don't seem to realise it couldn't give a shit about Palestinian lives either.

They will remember this:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-36174047

It's possible for fighter pilots to make mistakes for various reasons, even in hi-tech jets!

They're not infallible and neither are their systems, information, etc.

At present, what happened to the hospital is unverified. That's why BBC uses the term "alleged".

Gaza Health Ministry = Hamas.
