To worry this war might lead to WW3.

I feel so sorry for everyone involved in this war in the Middle East. So many people think it can't affect us but it could so easily escalate with Russia and the US getting involved. I'm quite scared tbh. Anyone else?

I’ve been thinking about this too op. It is worrying.

Reallybadidea · 12/10/2023 13:42

Can we not just be horrified for all the civilians involved instead of making it about us?

sprigatito · 12/10/2023 13:43

Israel has just bombed the two major airports in Syria because the Iranian foreign minister was about to land in Syria. Erdogan has called Israel a "terrorist organisation" and the strafing of Gaza a "massacre". Hamas has offices in Istanbul and Erdogan has half of Daesh serving in his army. I'm very worried indeed.

I think Russia has its hands full elsewhere to be honest.

I think Russia likes the distraction from its own actions. And they're not unfriendly with Iran 🤷🏻‍♀️.

DyslexicPoster · 12/10/2023 13:43

No. I'm.not going to worry about WW3. We has this at the start of Ukraine war. But it's not WW3 yet. I'm sure at some point in the near future their will be a war yo shift power away from the west. But I can't stop it so why fret over it?

It's not either or. You can do both.

are you on something?

So sensible he pulled out of Afghanistan leaving all the weapons behind. Guess where those went.

I suppose he’s unlikely to be awake for long enough to make a decision so there’s that.

While I don't particularly rate Biden, he was not responsible for the pull out of Afghanistan. That was one of the last things Trump ordered and arranged before he left office. It would have been almost impossible to backtrack in that.

vodkaredbullgirl · 12/10/2023 13:46

We had this with Ukraine, people worrying about WW3, has it happened NO.

GettingStuffed · 12/10/2023 13:00

I'm glad we have Biden in the White House as I believe he's sensible and won't get America dragged into it.

Really ? He is already supporting one side with arm and funds.

Martin83 · 12/10/2023 13:48

I think the ground operation in Gaza might trigger Hezbollah in the north. This will bring US into the conflict.
Meanwhile China will look at this and think: American fleet in the Middle East, the military complex is flat out helping Ukraine, we might not have a second chance.
This will be a global conflict with West on one side and China, Iran, Russia on the other.

Quite, I mean, they have done embarrassingly badly on their "easy" war. What their population would think about them getting involved in this one in any significant way doesn't bear thinking about.

And as per the Ukraine situation, there's precious little one can usefully worry about. So don't. Saves a lot of time and adrenaline.

Seriously? You’re glad Biden is in the White House? A man who forgets which war he is talking about in an interview, or (again when being interviewed) for no apparent reason just gets up, shakes hands with interviewer and walks out. He may once have been sensible, but his mental health may now be compromised, so very much not an ideal US president.

I can’t make up my mind if you are being sarcastic or thick

Surreyclaire · 12/10/2023 13:52

Not at all scared
hamas attacks Israel who respond
apart from Iran even the other mid eastern nations don’t want to be involved

coxesorangepippin · 12/10/2023 13:53

Well it's not good, that's for sure.

Surreyclaire · 12/10/2023 13:53

and why worry you can’t change anything

Worrying about it also affecting us does not mean we cannot also be horrified about what is currently happening to others,

These threads just make people more anxious.

They can also help to ease anxiety.

"Si vis pacem, para bellum".
If you want peace, prepare for war.

For far too long this concept has been forgotten!

Honestly op just don't watch the news. I stopped long ago and have no clue about this sort of thing or anything else. I am in a blissful bubble of happiness.

BeyondMyWits · 12/10/2023 13:59

I'd be more worried that unrest in the Middle East will, as always, mean increasing oil prices with Winter on the way.

War affects us all in one way or another. Doesn't have to be a "world war".

It has money and is in BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa) which is the greater concern when you look at their tech infrastructure (China) and nuclear capabilities (India)

If I had bought any arms from Russia I would be opening up the packing cases and checking the quality/quantity of everything I had bought.

I would also be checking with my bank the reliability of any promisary notes I had accepted.

Palmasailor · 12/10/2023 14:02

Yeah that was it, and Trump told him to dump all the weapons there as well in full working order and he went along with it all like a good boy following instructions.

LegendsBeyond · 12/10/2023 14:03

It’s very likely in my view. Hamas has misguided support throughout the Muslim world. The ramifications could be awful.

Most intelligent people want to be up to date with world events & politics though. You can’t just pretend it isn’t happening.
