For me its after every wear (apart from jeans and joggers which is around 2-3 wears)

However this means i have a never ending flow of laundry

How many wears from freshly laundered would you go.

Socks, undies, vest/t-shirt = washed after every wear.

Everything else = washed when needed (depending on spillages / smells / going out of shape etc). Usually 2-3 wears.

JayJayj · 12/10/2023 10:26

Every wear for me at the moment. But my hormones are all over still from giving birth and breast feeding so I sweat more than I used to. But even before, if it was my clothes I wore for work, they would be everyday as it’s very manual. But home clothes would have been worn 2 or 3 times unless dirty.

Fightyouforthatpie · 12/10/2023 10:27

<Mumsnet> I wash everything every 10 seconds, doesn't everyone? </Mumsnet>

BarmyBarnacles · 12/10/2023 10:27

Till I had kids it used to be after every wear. Now the kids' clothes take priority and it's getting really difficult to fit in mine or dh's laundry. I wear underwear only once before washing but other clothes I'll try to wear twice unless they are dirty or smelly. My pyjamas I'll probably wear for 3-4 days because I don't have many that are comfortable.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/10/2023 10:27

Knickers after 1 wear, everything else, when it doesn’t smell clean or has a stain.

PinkRoses1245 · 12/10/2023 10:31

Socks and knicks, one wear. And everything else, when it smells or visibly dirty. I am working from home today and yesterday, and wearing exactly the same tshirt, leggings and fleece as yesterday. it ruins your clothes faster to wash them more, plus electricity and water cost!

Coffeerum · 12/10/2023 10:32

No I don't wash things after every where, the only things that go in the wash automatically are socks and pants. Everything else just goes in as needed, usually after several wears at least.

gotomomo · 12/10/2023 10:39

Pants after every wear. Everything else I judge based on need

spinspinsugars · 12/10/2023 10:42

Every wear, every day for all 4 of Us at home! But I have real OCD tendencies around clothing and cleanliness, matching colours etc..Confused

Angryappendix · 12/10/2023 10:44

Your clothes must get ruined really quickly.

Knickers/ socks - every wear
All other clothing - when it’s dirty or smells

RaininSummer · 12/10/2023 10:45

Undies daily change, dresses, trousers and tops I get two work days from unless a heatwave, jeans until they walk to the basket on their own.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 12/10/2023 10:47

Everything except trousers, every wear.

muddyford · 12/10/2023 10:47

Every wear for knickers, socks and T-shirts. Every three or four for bras and trousers, every week for sweatshirts. Bed linen weekly, ditto bath towels etc. Tea towels, dish cloths and hand towels twice a week.

endofthelinefinally · 12/10/2023 10:49

It depends where I have been. If I haven't been on bus or tube I just wash underwear and socks, I wear the other clothes several days, but if the clothes might actually be "dirty", I would wash them sooner.

TheLongGloriesOfTheWinterMoon · 12/10/2023 10:51

After every wear for tops.

And I've just come from the supermarket and can tell you categorically I'm in a minority. Which reflects the voting on here. The MN competitive minging is alive and well on the streets of the unwashed. Sheesh.

TheLongGloriesOfTheWinterMoon · 12/10/2023 10:52

I genuinely think people can't smell BO on themselves. The couple of times it's happened to me I haven't realised until late in the day.
People, the smell travels outwards to the general public more than upwards to your own nose.

Vistada · 12/10/2023 10:53

Just to be clear I'm not asking this to judge! I'm genuinely curious if I'm overdoing it because tbqh im fucking sick of the amount of laundry

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 12/10/2023 10:55

Work trousers and jacket I have two of each to cover 5 days.

Tshirts/tops, gym gear and knickers, every wear. Can often get a second wear out of a jumper. Jeans/bottoms 2 or three wears. Hoodies/sweatshirts, as needed - I rarely wear them for a full day. Bras every couple of wears unless I've been sweating profusely.

Some people genuinely don't need to. DP's tops need doing after every wear as he naturally smells stronger than me. Mine don't unless I've been really active or its been boiling. Underwear, socks and man shirts gey done after every wear and everything else as needed.

We only need to do 1/2 loads of laundry a week. One clothes and one bedding/towels. No children though - just two adults.

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 12/10/2023 10:56

For me alone I probably do two loads of laundry a week? How much are you doing?

beguilingeyes · 12/10/2023 10:56

I think the cost of Living is probably impacting on this. Everyone is trying to cut down on their electricity bills etc.

bonbon2023 · 12/10/2023 10:58

After every wear. Jeans maybe two wears.

Gingeri · 12/10/2023 11:06

I do the same as you op

MMAMPWGHAP · 12/10/2023 11:09

As little as possible.

Was taught years ago to air clothes. But my revolution this year has been Pitrok deodorant. Game changer. Lot of the smell on tops is the smelly deodorant. Don’t get that with Pitrok.

Eileen101 · 12/10/2023 11:09

Socks, pants, t shirt every wear. Bra every few days, jeans/hoodie every 3/4 days unless noticeably dirty from toddler hands.
But I do work from home. If I'm out and about my work dress and cardigan get washed every wear.
I also still end up with loads of washing from two kids, even with "if your school trousers and jumper haven't got dinner or mud on, fold them up for tomorrow!"
