If you’re mid 40’s

What do you look like? What is your life like? If you’re 40’s

I’m 45, long dark hair, pretty basic style, jeans, converse, denim shorts (am I too old for this?)
Recent signs of ageing, laughter lines and puffy under eyes (hate this!) forehead still quite unlined, it’s my eyes mainly. No Botox yet.
6 or so strands of grey hair that pop up, I cover that with one of those L’Oréal wand
things.
Couple of stone overweight, this and my eyes are my main ageing issues.
I work part time, have a young daughter, see friends for play dates and the occasional drink/dinner out.
Exercise is walking my dog and sea swimming, I need to do more.
Only got more seriously into skin care a few years ago, which I know is terrible. Cleanse & Vitamin C in the morning, cleanse, collagen oil, wrinkle filler, eye cream and Tretinoin at night.
Barely drink these days, smoked socially years ago, still getting periods but only every couple of months, so I’m guessing I’m peri. Not massively happy in marriage, but adore my dc, friends and have a nice job/lifestyle

Curious to know about others of a similar age?

I'm 42 married 9 years with 2 primary aged kids who are a joy. Marriage is very good after a long toxic relationship and toxic family growing up i feel i only found myself in my late 30s i'm happier than i've ever been.
I'm fairly slim as i walk everywbere and try to fit in gym or running at lunchtime. I work FT in the civil service.
My skincare regime is mostly what my sister tells me to do and my dark is certainly dyed.
The one good thing about back to the office is getting properly dressed and making an effort with my appearance.

43, divorced. Fat, long dyed hair with a partial shave/undercut. Im a goth so wearing mostly whatever the hell i like and not caring an inch if anyone thinks i'm too old for it/its inappropriate.

Genuinely do not care.. life is too short for boring clothes or conforming to social norms/fashion.. I'm having a lot more fun with clothes and life than i ever did in my 20s, and despite the odd grey hair when my dye grows out, most people think i'm still about 30ish and accuse me of lying when i tell them i'm 43, lol.

CBA with all that skincare stuff, i wash my face and use facial wipes, i dont wear make up often other than a bit of moisturising primer and some powder and if i can be bothered, eye liner and mascara.

Peri, but on the pill as i'm sleeping with a 28yo who thinks i'm gorgeous and makes me happy, so no periods. i have 2 teenagers, i'm a carer for one of them.

My health is shite as i have a degenerative condition and i'll likely be using a wheelchair to get out and about in the next 2-3 years as walking hurts me quite a bit now.

I have amazing friends, a lovely social life, a hot younger guy.. yes i'd love to be healthier, thinner and have more money and a better car, but honestly.. i'm just enjoying life so i can slide into my grave thinking 'what a ride'

Do people disapprove? Absofuckinglutely. Do i care? Not one bit.

I'm too old and disabled to wear the added weight of other peoples disapproval, if they don't like me, that is a them problem.

I don't disapprove. I think you sound awesome.

Wow, really surprised at how many people are mentioning botox! I assumed it was only something a tiny minority of women bothered with but now wondering if all my friends and colleagues have had it without me realising.

In my experience yes they are!

Late 40s. Mostly brown hair at the moment but my roots confirm that I would be totally grey if I grew it out. Regular periods but with all the peri symptoms and can’t have hrt. Can’t wait until it all buggers off. Skin isn’t too bad. I don’t drink or smoke and hate sitting in the sun so no added damage from that. General health is pretty bad. I need a wheelchair to do any great distances and various bits of me don’t work very well. I would describe my style as alternative scruffbag.

Job is soul destroying and we haven’t got a pot to pee in, but we’ve got a (HA) roof over our heads, food in the cupboards and DH is brilliant at saving and budgeting so we can usually treat ourselves if we’ve got a bit of notice. And my job lets us do that, so that’s what I concentrate on.

Very happily married, I can’t imagine life without him. No DC of our own but we do a lot of care for a couple of young children so it feels like we get the best of both worlds. Fantastic friends (I’ve been incredibly lucky here). The family we see regularly are really supportive and I have a good relationship with my mum, who I care for.

All in all, I’m happy. If I could win enough on the lottery so we didn’t have to work and could have a little garden, life would be pretty perfect.

43, weight creeping on but too tired to work at it lol! Just started noticing skin, don’t mind wrinkles and laughter lines but I just keep noticing how short my eyelashes are and am aware of the eyelid thing. I’d like a better wardrobe but with 4 kids it won’t happen-also size wise-14 a bit too big, 12 tiny on me! Would love to look more my age and less of a teen dressed badly but eg cream coloured anything wouldn’t do, I’d be dirty in a second! Have long brown hair that used to be amazing but Covid made tons fall out so it looks ratty! All in all happy though!
