Hi I had some routine blood tests done at my GP this morning I was told to expect results on Friday (it's Tuesday). At 5pm I had a call from an unknown number. my GP said my results were abnormal and would refer me to a Haematologist. The Haematologist called me about the results and told me to come in ASAP.

They think I have blood cancer and have started me off on Hydrocycarbamide and antibiotics.

This is a real shock I thought I might have anaemia as I have been really fatigued for the past month with no strength in my arms or legs.

Could really use a handhold tobet me thorough the night. Hopefully a diagnosis tomorrow but specialist looked really concerned...

I am sorry that you have a difficult wait ahead of you! No advice, but wishing you all the best!

Ratfinkstinkypink · 10/10/2023 23:59

I am so sorry, I hope the news tomorrow is not as bad as you fear.

Mmhmmn · 11/10/2023 00:00

What a shock, OP. Understand you’re really scared but you’re in the system now and in the hands of the specialists who WILL look after you. Here’s a hand-hold x

I cannot even begin to imagine what you are feeling. Are you in hospital tonight?

Tweddle · 11/10/2023 00:02

So you went for bloods this morning and by teatime you’re on cancer treatment?
That’s a lot to process

EvilElsa · 11/10/2023 00:03

🫶🤝 hand hold from me OP and lots of well wishes and luck.

Rosesandstars · 11/10/2023 00:03

Sending a big virtual hug! I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Thisweeksname · 11/10/2023 00:03

Handholding ❤take a deep breath, tonight try to switch off, don’t google and try not to let your thoughts run. The doctors have been quick to identify the problem and they will put together a plan for treatment. Sending you good thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery. When you feel most anxious, right down the thoughts then try to focus on a distraction like tv or a book.

hellohelp · 11/10/2023 00:06

Aw I'm so sorry what a shock that must have been
It is great they are moving so quickly to find out but I understand it is an enormous shock and scary thing to be worried about
Handhold xx I am actually going through something similar with my mum at the moment so can understand the surprise when it feels like everything is happening so fast you don't have time to process what's happening
Xx

How are you doing OP? Thinking of you.

Chestnutz · 11/10/2023 21:09

Big handhold here. I hope you got some answers today. I’m amazed at the rapid response - your bloods must be significantly off. Did you manage to get a diagnosis today or will this be after a bone marrow biopsy? I was diagnosed with a blood cancer earlier this year so understand the turmoil that you’re going through. Take everything day by day xx
