To hate London

I've lived in London my whole life, right now I'm living very central. My current partner (not the father of my dc) loves London. I feel like I'm drowning in the sound of traffic, don't want to leave my windows open as I'm worried about how the pollution will effect my DC, hate the school run for the same reasons. I'm so so desperate to leave the city, I crave the sound of nature and the fresh air but he just doesn't want to leave. We don't live together right now. AIBU to think it's never going to work with us as I can't see myself ever being happy here and he doesn't want to leave. All I can think about is what harm it's doing to my DC and it's sending my anxiety through the roof.

I wasn't asking you to justify your car use.

Could you move to a greener part of London? I adore London but if I went back there's only a handful of affordable areas I'd consider looking at, which are the ones surrounded by parks, wetlands, etc. The most central, affordable one of these is Bow.

@Ginmonkeyagain I haven't justified my car use? I was simply replying to the point you made Also living London means I don't have to run a car and become part of the problem & explaining that for some it's a necessity.

Until a family member had a devastating stroke with lots of hospital stays, rehab, follow up home care I was personally quite naive to how many HCPs rely on cars in London.

Ginmonkeyagain · 07/10/2023 12:27

I PERSONALLY do not need to run a car where I live. Others may have a different experience.

Jeez, sensitive much?

panelbottle · 07/10/2023 13:09

Are you ok? 😆 You accused me of justifying my car use when I said nothing about my personal use?

Do you normally get so triggered by people responding to your responses?!

panelbottle · 07/10/2023 13:09

If you do then just don't respond...

I was born and bred in London. Grew up around Victoria/Westminster. Moved to SE London when I met my DH. We moved out of London when our DC's were born. Kent countryside. Good train links for work (London). Good schools. We were renting but managed to buy a small property which we extended. Good luck OP. I hope you managed to move somewhere you will love and settle with you dc.
