I've never broken a bone or given birth, but I have had some very painful periods that have made me feel like I'm going to pass out. Also terrible travel sickness / vomiting on a 20 hour trip that left me wishing for death due to how crap I felt.

Induction
Gallstones
Cluster headache
IBS where I can't even catch my breath because of the pain
Migraine
Pulmonary embolism

Out of all those I'd probably say cluster headache or the 1st gallbladder attack. Wow those were something spectacular!

Curtainseeker · 04/10/2023 23:00

Terrible toothache
birth of 1st (back to back/length of time/plunger delivery)
liver biopsy
abcess on body
recovery from c section - wish I’d done a hypno birth

stubbing toes- why does that hurt so much!

Deb52 · 04/10/2023 23:16

Migraine
dental abcess
perforated stomach ulcer
sepsis in my groin
childbirth but what wins hands down was breaking my back and seeing stars unable to move

AliTheMinx · 04/10/2023 23:17

Childbirth
A kidney stone that was stuck
Wisdom teeth pain
Sinusitis

All hideous!

Tinysoxxx · 04/10/2023 23:21

Two weaver fish stings on the same toe. Would have cut my own toe off if I had been given a knife.

Florawest · 04/10/2023 23:25

I second the sciatica oh sweet divine to even think about a movement brought tears to my eyes, had three children, two really big ones.
lower back pain too when couldn’t get off floor. Hoping none them comes back again.

lifeturnsonadime · 04/10/2023 23:28

Gallstones and ankle broken in 4 places were both worse than child birth for me. And I didn't have drugs in childbirth.

tothelefttotheleft · 04/10/2023 23:28

@vipersnest1

Why did they not sedate you for your sigmoidoscopy? How awful.

Imaginemissmarple · 04/10/2023 23:30

Dislocated knee…it’s like a terror takes over and you can hear yourself screaming, I have dislocated my knee a lot!

it’s worse than endometriosis period pain, dentals abscess, stitches post childbirth without anaesthetic…and they were all severe!

Meemee28 · 04/10/2023 23:33

C Section recovery was horrific. The perfect description I heard, likened it to being stabbed with a burning knife.
Though either my miscarriage or when I needed a root canal probably tops it just about.

MarvellousMonsters · 04/10/2023 23:35

Ruptured appendix/peritonitis. Proper sweaty dizzy out of body level of pain. Childbirth was uncomfortable by comparison.

T1Dmama · 04/10/2023 23:38

I wouldn’t describe labour as painful, just really really uncomfortable and hard work…. Being stitched up after forceps though… that hurt!!

I’ve always thought a dislocated shoulder looks like agony on the A&E programs

Luckyducky10 · 04/10/2023 23:42

I second that dry socket!!! Unreal pain I had 2 next to each other!! 😭😭😭 I need another extraction been putting up with toothache for weeks as I’m scared to get that again!

@vipersnest1

Why did they not sedate you for your sigmoidoscopy? How awful.

I did ask, but they said it wasn't routinely offered.
As you said, it was indeed awful (and that word is a complete understatement of what happened and how it made me feel - not that I'm criticising you, of course).
As I said, it was barbaric, and I used that word in my complaint (I've had a lot of interactions with hospitals going back years and have never complained before). My experience and views were completely dismissed, but I do hope that behind the scenes the surgeon was told to be far more careful in future, and - hopefully - to change his technique and the way in which he interacts with patients.

Amybelle88 · 04/10/2023 23:44

Pancreatitis - had a major acute episode after having my second baby. Ended up with pancreatic cancer and still suffer with flare ups of pancreatitis now.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that is comparable to that pain and I've had : abscesses, induction with my first born with no pain relief (at first 😂🤢), pulmonary embolism, whipples operation, c sections, piles in pregnancy (WOW) and trapped wind post c section ( wow again!!!)

Pancreatitis is like someone is kicking fuck out of your organs whilst they've also got lead weights hanging from them.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 04/10/2023 23:51

Pancreatitis
Intussusception

bunsen · 05/10/2023 00:05

A bowel movement after fissurectomy surgery. Literally thought I would die from the pain

crowsfeet57 · 05/10/2023 00:12

Endometriosis gave me horrendous period pain for up to a week every month until I had a hysterectomy. But worse than that was a miscarriage.

tothelefttotheleft · 05/10/2023 00:13

@vipersnest1

Its frightening how treatment varies from person to person. I had one last week and there was no question whether I was going to be sedated or not. I was given 50mcg fentanyl and 2mg of midazolam.

mamaandbabas · 05/10/2023 00:17

Stomach cramps due to food poisoning -Camoplabacter, - worse than labour contractions.

Owl55 · 05/10/2023 00:41

Plantar fasciitis

Kazzy3200 · 05/10/2023 01:00

Gallstones….I called ambulance twice before I had them out

BatShitCrazyGran · 05/10/2023 02:37

I feel your pain.....I have fibro too,as well as sciatica, arthritis, and cluster headaches. Life's shit and then you die eh. We just keep.popping those pills and keep keeping on.

DottyLottieLou · 05/10/2023 02:59

A really bad migraine that threw me out of bed.

Filamumof9 · 05/10/2023 03:22

Childbirth with only contractions in my back would not even come close to the IV drip of antibiotics afterwards. They rushed the drip, every 4 hrs excrutiating pain of feeling the antibiotics burn in my vains to the point I could not even held my head up anymore. Felt like toxics running and burning my blood and vains from the inside.Had to go through that for more than a week and still remember that burning pain.
