I've never broken a bone or given birth, but I have had some very painful periods that have made me feel like I'm going to pass out. Also terrible travel sickness / vomiting on a 20 hour trip that left me wishing for death due to how crap I felt.

Cluster headaches! Nicknamed suicide head aches for a reason. Had two c-sections etc and nothing touches that pain!

Only4nomore · 04/10/2023 21:20

A massive splinter under my thumb nail! Honestly worse than labour! Apparently used as torture in some countries!!

sqirrelfriends · 04/10/2023 21:22

An ear infection that the GP refused to give me anything for, I was literally sobbing I was in so much pain. Both eardrums burst and the pain massively subsided.

Do they give you anesthetic? 😭

They did, but were in such a panic to get the baby out quickly that they used the forceps before the anaesthetic kicked in. The whole thing was a nightmare. When I saw my community midwife afterwards she said 'goodness, you had a bad time'!!! Needless to say my daughter is an only child!!!!!

ImpeckableChicken · 04/10/2023 21:23

Gallstones.

Londontown12 · 04/10/2023 21:23

Dental after operculectomy on my wisdom tooth !

LaDamaDeElche · 04/10/2023 21:23

ACL injury. A horrific time of my life. Was a partial tear, so wasn’t diagnosed until I paid for my own MRI after being on a waiting list for three months. Closely followed by a frozen shoulder. That was also pretty horrific and a very long and painful recovery time.

sqirrelfriends · 04/10/2023 21:24

Oh and one particular migraine was bloody awful, it felt like I was being stabbed in the brain.

LaDamaDeElche · 04/10/2023 21:25

Sitting down for about a month after how they cut me after a ventouse delivery wasn’t much fun either.

Hawdyerwheesht · 04/10/2023 21:25

Grumbling appendix, acute appendicitis and then gas bubbles post recovery from laporascopic appendectomy. Useless fucking organ.

Overthinkingperhaps · 04/10/2023 21:26

I've had two long labours (one induction) and two c-sections
The labours and recovery were very painful.

However, the worst pain I've ever felt was an abscess under a cracked wisdom tooth.
It was during the first lockdown.
That level of pain honestly had me thinking some very dark thoughts. It was relentless and excruciating.
I had that for 2 weeks. Was eventually taken out at an emergency dentist hub which was also painful and traumatic as they were unable to use a drill. It all felt very medieval.

Overthinkingperhaps · 04/10/2023 21:26

Oh and I've had a fissure.
That wasn't the best time of my life either.

Melissa90 · 04/10/2023 21:28

Gallstones 100% worst pain i have experienced. Thought i was dying the first attack i had

Heyyaaal · 04/10/2023 21:31

Perforated gastric ulcer, happened when I was 19 and was absolutely excruciating.

I’ve had 2 labours with no pain relief and the ulcer was just as bad!

glittereyelash · 04/10/2023 21:32

Cluster migraine that lasted a month absolute torture 😫

mbosnz · 04/10/2023 21:32

When I ruptured my liver.

Pumpkinspice12 · 04/10/2023 21:33

Labour! It was so intense as had back to back that it kept taking me breath away and I was struggling to breath at points of contractions

BatShitCrazyGran · 04/10/2023 21:34

Cluster headaches(there's a reason they are called the suicide disease) and ectopic pregnancy.

Heb1996 · 04/10/2023 21:36

@canwetalkaboutcake when I was induced with my first baby. It felt like a bomb had gone off and the massive contractions were continuous with no respite at all. I could hardly get my breath. It was horrible and I really don’t know how I survived.

Eggsandavocado · 04/10/2023 21:40

Eye ulcer, definitely trumped the pain of giving birth

Wonderwhyibother · 04/10/2023 21:40

Some accidents:

Rtc when I was young resulting in badly (mangled) broken leg that I was minutes from losing.

Falling off my horse landing hand first smashing my wrist to smithereens and displacing all the bones in my hand, subsequently made worse by the car journey to hospital hitting every bump and pot hole on the countryside roads.

3rd place goes to falling off yet another horse and landing on my hip with an absolute thump. Couldn't walk for a week and have a permanent reminder of a dent just above my butt cheek.

Non accident pain goes to my arthritis and fibro flares. As I've got older they've got more painful and last longer. I just can't do anything other than try to hold back tears/throwing up/trying not to pass out when they happen. I can't sit, stand, lie down, climb the stairs, sleep without every movement sending shock waves through my body. Just debilitating, wouldn't wish arthritis or fibro on anyone.

noosmummy12 · 04/10/2023 21:40

I’ve had 3 births (one induced with syntocin, forceps and placental abruption, one emcs and one planned cs) and my ectopic pregnancy was by far the worst pain. I’ve broken bones, has dental abscess, and the pain when it ruptured was the most excruciating thing I’ve ever felt, and I used to have period pain which would make me faint

Mememe9898 · 04/10/2023 21:40

Giving birth 😵‍💫 as well as having a slipped disc in my back that meant I couldn’t move.
i didn’t use any pain killers when in labour with my two boys and when I pushed both out I can only describe the pain like I was being ripped in two. It was excruciating and I couldn’t stop shaking after giving birth due to being in so much pain 🥴

GiveMeAMin · 04/10/2023 21:41

I was told a story of a farmer who had an anal abscess due to the constant motion of the tractor - they called it hairy arse syndrome.
It was so bad that he passed out with the pain and the family had to throw him in the back of the pick up and take him to hospital to get it lanced

ProfSleepzz · 04/10/2023 21:43

Also colonoscopy. I gave birth to twins but the colonoscopy was worse. Shorter lived but far more intense and invasive.
