I've never broken a bone or given birth, but I have had some very painful periods that have made me feel like I'm going to pass out. Also terrible travel sickness / vomiting on a 20 hour trip that left me wishing for death due to how crap I felt.

I suffer from "migraines" (awaiting a neurology appointment to find out exactly what type of headache condition it is!) That feel like corkscrews are being drilled into the back of my eyeballs, while they are also being squeezed in vices, with Freddie Kruger trying to stabs them out with his claws and little people trying to dig their way out with chisels.

They have been so bad that I've collapsed on the floor with them, am unable to look after my children, I've been to hospital where I've been given 2 lots of cocodomal, tramadol and oramorph and it hasn't touched the pain. Not that I meant it in an I'm going to kill myself way but I've often been left thinking I don't want to keep living this way.

I get headaches EVERY DAY. Have done for the last 25 years. Most days they are just a dull ache that I can ignore and work through but on the worst days they are like the above.

Hands down the worst pain I've ever experienced and I've given birth naturally 4 times, had fillings done without anesthetic and tattoos on my feet.

Sillyname63 · 04/10/2023 21:43

Gallstone pain and even after that was removed I had a blocked bile duct, which was equally as bad, a cross between a heart attack and intense labour pain +++

TmFid · 04/10/2023 21:43

I suffer from small fibre neuropathy. Described by one consultant neurologist as capable of driving a person to suicide. Separately, had a drysocket following a botched wisdom tooth extraction just days after a c section. Weeks and weeks of agony.

GucciM · 04/10/2023 21:43

Dislocated kneecap and it was out for an hour... 100% worse than childbirth and I've done that twice without pain relief

Snowinjulyy · 04/10/2023 21:44

Being physically examined by a doctor after I had just given birth and torn. Hurt more than the birth.

Moonlightdust · 04/10/2023 21:44

Pushing a back-to-back baby out for 6 hours (yes 6 whole hours!) on just gas & air and pethidine. The back pain was excruciating 😣

Also a severe ear infection resulting in a burst eardrum. Oooh the pain (and relief when my ear perforated!)

Ilikeviognier · 04/10/2023 21:45

I’m just recovering from a tonsillectomy which I have to say has been up there in terms of pain.

Haribosweets · 04/10/2023 21:45

IBS / stomach spasms. 100 times worse than childbirth

Londongirl78 · 04/10/2023 21:46

Apart from childbirth, it was a dental abscess, made me want to rip my face off! Pain was awful

Eyesopenwideawake · 04/10/2023 21:47

Gravel in my kidneys when I was about 20. Felt like I was trying to pee through the tiniest needle - absolutely excruciating.

Also the immediate post op period after a bunionectomy. Begged (screamed!) for painkillers which thankfully knocked me out for another few hours.

MrsLighthouse · 04/10/2023 21:47

Childbirth, pancreatitis, spasm in back. All excruciating …and all went on for a looonngg time 😬

GettingStuffed · 04/10/2023 21:49

Tearing my rotator cuff, and in a different way tendonitis of the wrist, I couldn't move my arm without intense pain and needed 6 months off work to recover.

MotherOfUnicorns4 · 04/10/2023 21:50

i have a few chronic pain disorders, but the worst pain for me is my feet. I have hyper mobile feet and when the weather is cold or damp the pain is excruciating. It’s like the worst toothache ever in my bones and no pain killer touches it. Dreading winter as they’re already starting to niggle :(.

Roughasabadgersbum · 04/10/2023 21:51

I have had two babies one without pain relief, but dislocation of both knees was the most awful pain ever in my whole world..ever...ever ...ever

Seasidemumma77 · 04/10/2023 21:53

Ruptured calf muscle

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 04/10/2023 21:56

3 broken metatarsals and I've had 3 kids. The metatarsals were worse. I puked.

fetchacloth · 04/10/2023 21:57

Vaginal abscess resulting in sepsis.
Close second was a dental abscess under an impacted wisdom tooth 😬

VintageBlossomHill · 04/10/2023 22:00

Severe ear infection. Pregnancy C sections and recovery didn’t touch it neither did painkillers and antibiotics. I ugly sobbed in my 2nd appointment to the doctors when he told me to come back in 10 days if I wasn’t better. I would have been happy to have been put down.

OtterlyFabulous · 04/10/2023 22:01

I once got up during the night and stepped on a Peppa Pig toy car I had forgot to put away and subsequently broke my little toe! The pain was absolutely unbearable, it made my dislike of that pig greater!

Recently it was the pain from retained clotted tissue following a c-section. My labour wasn't even that painful. I had to brace myself everytime I had to walk and go to the toilet. Thankfully it cleared up on it's own after my body contracting to remove it!

KittyMcV · 04/10/2023 22:01
  1. Gallstones until open surgery
  2. Salivary gland and duct infection
  3. Induced labour (child 1)
  4. Headaches during flu in my teens
  5. Normal labour and delivery (child 2) - no pain relief other than Tens
6) Lower back pain.

Plantar fascitis

Thought I was going to die when it first happened, I call it fascist foot.

Ouch, yes I have that at the moment.
I'm in my 4th week with it and it's beginning to ease. Before this week it was like walking on a broken house brick 😫

ellie09 · 04/10/2023 22:02

My glass shower door came loose and fell directly on to the top of my foot.

The pain was so bad, I couldn't scream, cry, talk or even move for around 30 minutes. I just about was able to pull the door off my foot.

I was home alone with 3 yo at the time who freaked as well. I eventually hopped my way to the bedroom crying and rang anyone I could think of. No one helped. So I tried to get some sleep, went to work the next day barely able to walk.

That night I finally made it to A&E but after a 9 hour wait and still not seen, I went home as was nervous I still needed to work next day.

I hobbled and limped for at least 4 weeks and I still suffer numbness in my foot. It was very obvious that I had broken it as my entire foot was black and blue.

If I could turn back time I'd have stayed at the A&E and not give a toss about work the next morning.

PeachBlossom1234 · 04/10/2023 22:05

Bowel blockage during chemo. I’ve never been lower either, the pain and the humiliation were the utter worst. Thankfully it was my last chemo because I know I wouldn’t have had any more

mumtoboys12 · 04/10/2023 22:06

Tonsils out. When I was 18. I preferred childbirth and ripping my private parts!!!!

HarrietPoole · 04/10/2023 22:10

Cracked rib. Hideous.
